Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel

Santa Monica, Los Angeles

The hotel

Meet your LA home-from-home on the beach. Just a few short paces from Santa Monica Beach, and a sunny five-minute stroll from the world-famous Santa Monica Pier, this upscale address makes the very most of its awesome, face-tilted-to-the-sun location by creating as many links between the indoors and outdoors as possible. Rooms and suites are airy, spacious and have a simple elegance that evokes the beach with sandy tones and splashes of blue. Where possible, guests have ocean views and some even have private terraces or fire pits. The heated pool is deeply inviting and its deck commands sweeping ocean views, too. Every evening, meanwhile, the cosy Fireside Lounge takes the baton from the setting sun and casts its golden light on guests as they sip signature cocktails and sample mouthwatering tapas.

Worst night sleep ever. I specifically asked for a quiet room bc we were only there for one night and had a 6 hour drive the next day. Woken up at 8 am with our walls shaking from the loudest construction noise outside our window and drilling next door. Didn’t stop until we checked out: front desk did credit $100 but on top of that the in room dining was terrible food and there is no hotel store so I had to go next door to the Marriott to get contact lens solution and waters. We should’ve stayed at the Marriott! Looked way nicer too:( lesson learned. Read less

This is a nice hotel but I am very disappointed with how the "Red, White and Beach" vacation package was managed by the local management/staff. The package included several "perks" including waived resort fees, included parking, and a $100/night resort credit to be used towards purchases while on site. It also was supposed to include simple treats like a s'mores kit and castle building kits for the kids. Like I said, the resort, was nice and clean, the food was good and the hotel and parking staff were professional and courteous. However, when it came time to check out, the hotel could not produce a listing of my on-site purchases, and the parking fees and daily resort fees were initially included on my bill. I had to remind them of the package perks, to have the parking and resort fees removed. Also, since they could not produce a line item listing of my purchases, they claimed I had a credit. I knew that could not be right, but the initiated a credit of ~$126. I checked my credit card statement later that day and it showed a pending credit. However, the next day, the pending credit was gone and an additional charge of $487 was added. While I did not have specific accounting of what I charged to the room, I was confident I did not charge that much, which meant I was not receiving the $100/night resort credit. I called and spent well over 1 hour on the phone with the front staff and the billing department, and I am still not confident I am getting the appropriate credit back to be card. I was told that it would take up to 10 business days to see any credits back to my card. If I do not see sufficient credits, I will be forced to dispute the charge with may credit card company. Also, although a minor issue, we also never received the sand castle kit for the kids, after asking multiple times. We were final told they were out of stock and they apologized. After spending nearly $3400 on a 4 night stay, I thought this would have been a much better experience. If you are going to offer a holiday promotional package, have the management system in place to provide what was promised. Read less

I expected more for the price. The staff was good but the hotel has its problems. Bathroom door wouldn’t close properly, partially eaten cheese left from previous guests, worst room in the building, and ice machines didn’t work. Crazy bad!
