Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel

Santa Monica, Los Angeles

The hotel

Meet your LA home-from-home on the beach. Just a few short paces from Santa Monica Beach, and a sunny five-minute stroll from the world-famous Santa Monica Pier, this upscale address makes the very most of its awesome, face-tilted-to-the-sun location by creating as many links between the indoors and outdoors as possible. Rooms and suites are airy, spacious and have a simple elegance that evokes the beach with sandy tones and splashes of blue. Where possible, guests have ocean views and some even have private terraces or fire pits. The heated pool is deeply inviting and its deck commands sweeping ocean views, too. Every evening, meanwhile, the cosy Fireside Lounge takes the baton from the setting sun and casts its golden light on guests as they sip signature cocktails and sample mouthwatering tapas.

Perfect spot!!! Only gripe is food choice and the berries had mold on them. OJ should be much better in CA. Tasted like Minute Maid. Should offer a bagel/salmon at breakfast. Also need some pizza/wings/ unhealthy apps as an option.

I reserved the most-expensive room for a two-night stay. The hotel did not honor the reservation, substituting a lesser room and blaming Expedia for the "confusion". Nor did they reduce my rate! I got a lesser room for the same money. The hotel itself is super nice, the people are very friendly and helpful, everything was spotless and very elegant. My wife loved the room we were assigned, and it was a very nice room with a very nice view. But it was not the room we reserved, and we were not offered any compensation of any kind. I would stay here again, however I feel like I was short-changed, and I don't see anyway to prevent that from happening again. Read less

Great service (particularly Claire at the front desk who checked us in, upgraded our room, and sent s’mores for the fire pit); spacious, well appointed room with the added benefit of a patio with a fire pit; beautiful heated pool, hot tub and fitness center; great location and views!
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Loews standards for a "standard room" are well below my standards

My "standard" room was below street level with a balcony that functionally was a window well that let in little light. I am surprised they offer this room to paying customers. It would be below my expectation for a budget motel, let alone a hotel that fashions itself a "luxury hotel." The only thing "luxury" was that a bowl of basic oatmeal cost… Read more

Pool was fine. Read less
