Through my job commuting to Alexandria, Virginia I had the pleasure of being introduced to the Kimpton brand through regularly staying at the Hotel Monaco when it was located on 470 King St. The staff there treated me like part of the family and I’ve never had a better hotel experience. So when I decided to surprise my wife with a weekend in Chicago, I chose the Hotel Monaco there in hopes that it would be a similar experience. I’m pleased to say it even exceeded my expectations! Kimpton gives exceptional attention to being personal with their customers, and they certainly did that for us. I initially didn’t mention that it was my anniversary when booking, but when they found out, Erica, the Asst GM, contacted us in our initially booked room to let us know they were moving us to an upgraded room. And the staff at this hotel were all incredibly professional, accommodating and personal. From Connor the Bellman, to Ronald at the Front Desk, to the two waiters we had in their restaurant, Fisk, this is a first class staff. And the property is newly renovated and the rooms exceptional. I’m not so easily satisfied, and I spend 100 nights per year in hotels. I can honestly say this was one of the best experiences I’ve had. Kudos to Kimpton for a hospitality model that truly makes their customers feel like VIPs, no matter what room they book, and to management in this hotel for creating an ideal staff culture. You made our 28th Anniversary really special and for that my wife and I are grateful! Read less

We skip around to varying Kimpton in Chicago, and we’re amazed at how nice the remodel of the hotel ended up being. Rooms have a great vibe, very classy looking, and we love the new lobby and bar look now. As before, comfy beds, very clean rooms, and modern bathrooms. The location is always great - right in the heart of it all.

Stayed here for 6 nights when in Chicago. I arrived quite late after a long journey and the front of house staff were so friendly. The hotel itself is in a great central location, close to everything you want to see and do as well as ideal for the blue line transfer from O’Hare. What an amazing experience! Our Kimpton stays are ALWAYS ALWAYS wonderful, but this visit was probably the best one yet! When we arrived, Abdul at the front desk said that our room wasn't quite ready yet even though it was past check-in time, so he asked if we minded being upgraded. Ummm.. yes, please. He upgraded us to a corner king suite with amazing views of the city and the river. We were thrilled! The hotel has recently been remodeled so everything is fresh, new and beautiful. The room was HUGE. Gorgeous bathroom with a giant shower and plenty of counter space. Super comfy bed and pillows. The window seats were my favorite feature of the room. I spent several hours just sipping coffee or wine and watching the people below. Occasionally, we heard a little noise from the train going by down the block, but otherwise, it was quiet and peaceful. Each day I received a thoughtful text from Abdul asking if we were happy with the room and enjoying our stay. So great. Although we didn't get a chance to eat at the attached restaurant, Fisk and Co. I did stop in for a glass of wine. The bartender was awesome and recommended a delicious white wine that was perfect. The hotel does offer a special Happy Hour in the lobby every night from 5-6pm with FREE wine. Every single person we encountered at the hotel was lovely. Always with big smiles and we loved that they said "welcome home" whenever we returned. The location is PERFECT. Within walking distance of the Navy Pier and the Magnificent Mile. Millenium Park is just a couple of blocks away as is the Theater District. Great shopping in the vicinity including the most architecturally beautiful Macy's store you'll ever see. And of course, the River Walk is right out the front door. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough! The only teeny tiny issue we had wasn't even with the hotel. Uber and Lyft drivers have a hard time finding it because there's a glitch in the city's network and it messes with their GPSs. I recommend contacting the driver and explaining where you are. We've visited Chicago many times and stayed in several hotels around the city, but we will definitely be returning to the Monaco. Thank you to Abdul and the entire staff - especially the doormen and valets who were hilarious and super helpful! We can't wait to come back! Read less
