Kimpton Hotel Palomar Chicago

Chicago, USA

The hotel

Anyone wishing for a sophisticated and calming approach to accommodation in Chicago should look no further than the Palomar which rates guests' well-being and comfort levels just as seriously as the stylish interior décor. The hotel offers just that little bit extra with personalised in-room Yoga sessions on the TV or perhaps you would prefer an early morning jog? Of course, you don't have to jog to be able to enjoy the sights and guests staying at the Palomar will be pleased to learn that River North, Navy Pier and the Magnificent Mile are all within walking distance. Further fabulous fitness facilities come in the form of the hotel's indoor heated swimming pool and 24-hour gym which are both guaranteed to help you work up an appetite just in time to check out the gastro-lounge dishes at the Sable Kitchen & Bar. What with in-room dining options and complimentary wine tasting sessions every day at 5.00pm, it's a wonder that you'll find the time to set foot outside however, it would be rude not to so this is your chance to give the Windy City a whirl.

We stayed 12/26-12/29/19. This location is convenient to all the fun things Downtown Chicago offers. Our room was on the 17'th floor, conveniently down the hall from the relatively busy fitness area and pool, but was still serene. This is a clean stylish facility. There is a complimentary wine (and if you're lucky bourbon & hot cider) Social… Read more

There is a complimentary wine (and if you're lucky bourbon & hot cider) Social Hour each day. Our room was not overly large but was well-equipped. The mini-bar was nicely stocked and reasonably priced. Beds and pillows were most comfy. A hearty shout-out to the Kimpton Palomar staff, especially Miguel and Brandon. The IHG central reservation system somewhat bungled our reservations and Miguel and Brandon got it fixed at the local level in a most friendly and efficient fashion. We'd definitely stay here again! We had a very good family stay here for three nights. Just about all of our "stay" items were great. We had a very good family stay here for three nights. Just about all of our "stay" items were great. The location is understandably excellent...in walking distance to so much that downtown Chicago has to offer, and close to subway stops. The rooms had a classy feel to them, and I enjoyed the large almost floor-to-ceiling windows in them. The beds were comfortable enough, and we had just enough room to store the "stuff" of our 4-person family for three nights. The pool on the upper floor was OK; it was very loud with other people, and gave a feeling of being crowded with only a few people there. The heated outdoor seating was a nice added touch. The front desk staff was excellent during our check-in, merging two separate reservations seamlessly. The front door staff was fantastic throughout the stay. The bartenders in the attached bar during our two visits were very friendly and fantastic. If I had to nitpick about the place, it might be the lobby; the lobby was nice, but seemed cluttered, and the furniture haphazard, with completely different pieces of furniture without much tying everything together. Fortunately, we didn't spend much time there. Overall, this was a good stay to base a 3-day trip to Chicago in. Read less

This place has a narrow entryway next to Hilton garden inn and offers a comfortable stay. The rooms are clean and modern. The pool has a great view of the city. Service is good and they gave me a microwave too on request. They go out of the way to get you things you need if you forgot your lint remover or nail clippers etc. Starbucks is a block away and there are bars like three dots and a dash or Laredo restaurant right across from this place. Pricey parking -- but that is what Chicago is notorious for! Valet was exceptionally polite and accommodating in leaving my car readily available as I had an open business meeting that was deferred. Doorman was always kind and greeted me warmly. Check-in was smooth. Hotel was clean. Room was quite large and had very nice amenities. Everything… Read more

I love any Kimpton I stay at and so I always seek them out whenever we go anywhere. Their service is pretty hard to surpass. I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5 because I didn't get the "Wow" factor I was hoping for. I'm being picky here but I've learned to expect amazing service and rooms at the Kimpton. The Palomar is a great hotel, but I was expecting a little more, such as an offer of champagne or wine when I checked in, warmth from the people at the front desk on check in/check out, bright fresh looking rooms and plushy robes. Kimptons are notorious for perfect rooms and over the top service and I just didn't get it this time. The bathroom was beautiful, the bed was comfortable and the body wash/shampoo and lotion were luxurious, but I had to pay for wifi which I haven't had to do before, the room was a little dark, and the front desk employees were just OK. I really like the Kimpton Monaco- they give all the special touches, but this one fell a little short. I must say the location was second to none as far as cool bars and great restaurants. I will continue to seek out Kimptons when I travel because I know the hotel typically has outstanding service and luxurious rooms. Maybe they could step it up at the Palomar. The special touches truly do make a huge difference to customers and a memorable time away from home. Read less
