The hotel

Radisson Blu hotels are recognised throughout the world for thought-provoking contemporary style, and this one found in the new landmark on the Chicago skyline the Aqua Tower, does just that. One of the funkiest up-to-date hotels around; location, rooms, facilities and genuinely welcoming staff hit the bullseye on all 4 counts, and then some. Prepare to be wowed from the moment you walk into the lobby, with a gorgeous wall made of intricate, interlocking gold metal discs inset with a long fireplace, giving the entire space a definite warmth. But don’t think that it’s all style over substance, in just a couple of minutes you can be delving deep into the city’s heart and soul with shopping on Michigan Avenue, strolling Millennium Park or exploring the collection at the Art Institute. This hotel is amenity heaven, with a huge fitness centre containing an indoor basketball court and an indoor lap pool, but that’s not all, as there is an 80,000-square-foot green roof and recreation deck complete with gardens and gazebos, fire pits, two outdoor pools, hot tub with cabanas, and a 1/5-mile running trail, which winds itself around the hotel a few stories up in the air giving incredible views at night. They even have a movie screening room with free Tuesday night screenings. Is there anything else you could need?

This is a wonderful hotel. The staff are exceptional. The concierge staff in particular are always available and willing to help in anyway possible. Hassan was right there by the door every morning and evening with a smile, greeting and a helping hand. It is apparent that this is more than just a job. Thank you for a great stay!

Highly recommend and can not wait to return. Not only was the room, view all amazing but all the Radisson Blu team went above & beyond. My room was huge with a wrap around balcony & my only regret was that I did not get pictures of my incredible night view.

We stayed at the Radisson Blu Aqua in Chicago for 6 days. We were looking forward to our stay in this hotel and beautiful city. We were not impressed by the attitude of the staff at checking in. However, we let that go as we did not want to have a bad time. We were upgraded to a room on 18th floor which is the business floor. We had to request for the room to be cleaned. On check out we were told that we owed nothing to clear only to get a charge on my card for the use of WiFi, gym etc. The website clearly states free WiFi and no charges for the use of the gym, which we didn’t use and supply of water in the room. I will not be using this hotel again. You would expect a hotel of this quality to have all amenities either free as stated or charged in the room fees. Read less

The staff at Radisson Blu Aqua is absolutely first class from the front desk to security. I left a personal item at the hotel and rather than just passing me off to a third party, the team helped me as much as they could: from Taylor checking with security to Valerie going to the last location i could remember and finding it. I want to give a special shoutout to Dante’ with security who offered to personally go to FedEx to drop off my item early in the day to ensure that I could receive it the next day. The staff went above and beyond and I could not be more grateful. Read less

All the staff we encountered were extremely friendly and helpful, from the front desk to the bell staff to the restaurant. The lobby is very nice, and the restaurant, while pricey, had excellent service and food. There's also a convenient mini Starbucks counter in the hotel. The facilities were also excellent and well-maintained. The indoor pool has 2 large lap lanes, a hot tub, and steam/sauna rooms. The locker rooms were very clean. The location was also walkable to many restaurants and Magnificent Mile, and we felt safe getting around on foot. Our only issue was the room. While spacious, the beds were old and ridiculously squeaky. The sheets were clean but had holes, and the pillows were unsupportive cotton balls. The desk chair needs to be updated to a business/wheeled chair (and considering how many conferences/business functions there are, having a better desk and chair would not come amiss.) The floor was dirty and sticky, and the countertops needed a better wipe-down and dusting. The bathroom is large but not very private- do not share a room with someone unless you're very comfortable with them. Lastly, housekeeping was spotty. I understand there's a shortage of workers, and I was not expecting daily housekeeping, but at one point, they came in the evening and knocked/entered even though we had the do not disturb sign-up. Additionally, my mother was in a separate room, and housekeeping removed or threw out her bag of unopened snacks even though it was nowhere near the trashcan. The front desk was apologetic and quickly credited her for the error. Read less
