Monaco Denver a Kimpton Hotel

Denver, Colorado

The hotel

Deep in downtown Denver, Hotel Monaco has got sports and sights, bars and boutiques, and eateries and entertainment in every direction. Transformed from two historic buildings into an up-to-the-minute urban pad, it promises those mod-cons and little indulgences that make a city break special. Each night, they lay on a complimentary wine reception and, before bed, there’s a ‘nightcap pairing’ waiting – perhaps port with a sweet treat? If that sounds a bit naughty, you can always atone at the complimentary 24-hour fitness centre. You might only be a walk from the restaurants of Victorian-era Larimer Square, and brew bars, clubs and dining of the LoDo district, but there’s dinner on your doorstep – at the hotel’s much-written about Denver dining spot Panzamo, featuring north Italian cuisine.

I like Kimpton hotels...as a general rule, and will pay more to stay in one. They’re big enough to have good food and a range of services, and small enough to feel personal. I wanted to leave a review because I specifically chose this Kimpton for my business trip due to the fantastic reviews - and they did not disappoint!! I came in during the worst snowstorm of the season & was greeted so fantastically, like a VIP. Camden was great to get my heavy suitcases out of my car & valet it for me late at night, then help me get the bags to my room, even though they are not offering bellhop service. I have NEVER had such a warm greeting - Laura asked me what I was most looking forward to about my stay as I was checking in. When I told her all I had in mind was relaxing in a hot bath, she quickly realized that I did not have a room with a bathtub! Not only did she allow me to select my room, they offered me the chance to peek my head inside 3 different options to see which best suited me! Service from all staff was great the rest of my time there - even when I was 2 minutes behind on social hour or the nightcap service, the front desk still accommodated me & even brought water bottles to my door one night! All-around fantastic stay and I will not waste time looking for other hotels on future business trips. Thank you! Read less

Hotel- Kimpton Monaco Denver (Denver, CO) Date- February 2021 (2 nights) Overall: 5/5 Excellent. This is our preferred hotel in the Denver area. Rewards Club Recognition- 5/5 Excellent. We were verbally thanked for our loyalty, and we were able to take advantage of an early check-in. Our room was upgraded, and in our room, we found a welcome amenity of a bottle of wine, some Jellybeans, some Gummy Bears, and a couple of waters. We were offered either 600 Welcome Bonus points or a $10 Raid-the-Bar credit. A 4pm checkout was pro-actively offered. The social password was good for a “pecan milk chocolate brittle”. We genuinely felt like valued guests at this property. Staff- 5/5 Excellent. Jordyn, who checked us into the hotel, was delightful. She was thorough yet efficient. Kat, who served wine during the social hour, was engaging and fun to interact with. Pauline was also quite pleasant. These representatives deserve kudos for their customer engagement. Property Appearance & Maintenance- 5/5 Excellent. Exterior- Excellent. The hotel is well branded, and the exterior and entrance is clean. Interior- Excellent. The hallways and lobby were clean and stylish. No scuff marks were evident on the baseboards or walls on our floor, and the carpet was spot free. All hallway lighting was functional. Accommodations- 5/5 Excellent. We were assigned a corner “Executive Suite with 1 King”. The room was spacious, and the furnishings and carpet were well cared for. The request in our profile to be assigned a room away from the elevator was honored. The bathroom lacked a tub, but the shower was really large; I think it could accommodate 3, maybe more, people at once! Housekeeping- 5/5 Excellent. The carpets were clean, and the bedding was comfortable. Toiletries, such as facial tissues, soap, shampoo, toilet paper, conditioner, etc. were all provided in a quantity adequate for the length of our stay. The bathroom was spot free, including the glass partition for the shower, which can admittedly be challenging to maintain. Even the grout was clean and in good shape. We did find it kind of strange that no glasses or even plastic cups were present in the room. Pool/Gym- 4/5 Very good. The sizeable fitness center on the 5th floor was open from 7a until 7p. A sign at the entrance asks users to stay physically distanced and to wear masks while working out. No pool at this property. Breakfast/Meal Options- 5/5 Excellent. Although the minibars are emptied during the pandemic, a ‘bodega’ is set up at the front desk where guests can purchase the usual minibar items. Social/wine hour is conducted as usual in the lobby, and morning coffee is available in the Panzano restaurant. The restaurant was open for breakfast and dinner and offered a reasonably sized menu. We both enjoyed the breakfast sandwich they offered. A new ‘nightcap’ service has been introduced from 8pm until 10pm, during which the hotel offers Kaluah or Amaro. Laundry- not evaluated. Computer/Printer/WiFi- 5/5 Excellent. WiFi was strong throughout the hotel, and streaming was smooth. The reception will print, copy, or fax anything you may need taken care of. Other- COVID-19 Operations: The hotel has sanitizing stations in the elevator bays, and the staff (and MOST guests) were wearing masks over their noses and mouths. Staff stayed an appropriate distance from one another and guests, and partitions were present to protect the reception staff. Even the cow statue in the lobby elevator bay had a mask on! Valet parking is operating. Read less
