Tivoli Lodge

Vail, Colorado

The hotel

Combining modern architecture with the feel of a mountain lodge, the Tivoli is a firm favourite with skiers. Warm in atmosphere with great service from attentive staff, it also enjoys unobstructed views of the Vail’s Golden Peak ski area. Guest rooms are spacious and impeccably-appointed with the finest linens and large soaking tubs – much appreciated after a busy day on the mountain! There are also two hot tubs to stake your place in, both with mountain views, the perfect way to relax and unwind. Breakfast is a delight at the Tivoli, complete with an omelette station and house specialities such as French toast and buttermilk biscuits. Come sundown, there’s the Brown Hound Lounge with overstuffed chairs, leather sofas and towering views of the mountain. A wonderful place for a spot of après-ski, try a signature Indini cocktail, inspired by former mascot Indy, the chocolate Labrador for whom the name is lounged – yep, you guessed it, it has a chocolate theme!

We enjoyed a 12 night stay in January 2019, and a 14 night stay in January 2020. Tivoli has everything we needed. Close to both the Village Gondola and Golden Peak lifts, its easy to get up the mountain in the morning. And, depending on the snow, you can almost ski back to the rear door from Golden Peak, in the afternoons. Its worth spending the extra for a mountain view room. And it seems to be simpler/ cheaper to book direct. Our 3rd floor room had a small sink, microwave, and refrigerator. Its not really a kitchen, but you can borrow cutlery and plates.... if you wish a simple 'microwave dinner' one night. The bathroom is spacious, and stocked with L'Occitane products. Housekeeping was excellent. For anyone who hasnt been to Vail before.... Vail Village (NOT Lionshead) is the place to be if you are dining out at restaurants most nights. All the popular restaurants are a short easy walk from Tivoli. A bonus is the 20% discount at Troys Ski Shop nearby. Troy and his team are a pleasure to deal with. We are now planning our 2021 stay ! My husband and I recently spent a long weekend at the Tivoli in Vail and could not have been more happy with our experience. The Lodge staff are extremely friendly and remembered us when we would come back in from dinner or a day of skiing. The owner lives on the property and can often be seen around the lobby with his Chocolate Lab, Speedy. Free dog snuggles abound :) The hotel is in a fabulous location. Walk out the door and you're a 3-minute walk to Vail Village to one side and a 3-minute walk to Golden Peak on the other. That means 3-minute access to ski school, the ski lifts, dining, shopping, etc. The hotel will valet your car overnight for a daily fee, meaning you don't have worry about parking. And if you take the shuttle out, then no need to pay for parking. Amenities. The hotel does not have a full restaurant, but they offer a fixed price breakfast buffet in the mornings, free coffee and tea until 10a, free coffee, tea and cookies in the afternoon, and there is a full bar in the evening. Given all the great restaurant choices in Vail Village, we were not at all bothered by the lack of full service restaurant. The Lodge also has a small hot tub for post-ski soaks, a small fitness center and a ski locker towards the back door with easy access to the slopes. The front desk is more than happy to supply towels, and all rooms come with robes for heading down to the hot tub. If I had to make one small complaint it would be that the pillows on the beds were a little too soft for me--but again, that's entirely personal preference, and I'm picky. I would probably bring my own pillow next time. Otherwise, would definitely stay here if we came back and would definitely recommend to friends. Read less

I’ve always been very impressed with the Tivoli Lodge however my last stay I was not. Then I 100% left my long North Face jacket (my fault) in the closet but it could not be found when I called the… Read more

When I checked in I was told that we would be receiving a bottle of wine as we were celebrating a very special occasion however it never was delivered. Then I 100% left my long North Face jacket (my fault) in the closet but it could not be found when I called the next day. Told there would be no follow up as the staff has been working there for a long time and would not take it. Petty complaints and I will be back but this was not what I’m used to from the Lodge. Probably would’ve let it go but I received 3 emails requesting a review so I decided to post about my experience. Read less

All you could want in a ski lodge, under the watchful eyes of the owner, who takes care that all is well. Staff was most helpful and friendly. The room was very comfortable and roomy, with a nice view of the trees outside, and skiers coming down the hill.

This was our third visit to Vail and to the Tivoli Lodge. We still find it such a wonderful place to stay in Vail. The rooms are large and comfortable. Amenities include lots of drawers, closet space, microwave, mini-fridge, l’occitane toiletries, fireplace, comfy bed and pillows, bathrobes, huge HD TV, coffee maker and wine glasses. The hot breakfast (for an additional charge) is huge with lots of great hot and cold selections. The dining area is lively and the fireplace is cozy. We did not use the jacuzzi but it is new since our last visit. They also now sell alcoholic beverages in the bar and the afternoon cookies and coffee are amazing! The lodge dog, Speed, is always a welcome sight! The staff is friendly and efficient. I used the fitness room and mentioned the TV and water cooler weren’t working. They are the next day, however there were no towels or tissues then. A Peloton bike, treadmill, elliptical and stationary bike along with weights make for a good fitness center. Additionally guests are comped at the nearby Vail Athletic Center if more is needed. Located near all the great restaurants and the ski lifts, Tivoli is our “go to” home away from home! Read less
