This property should probably shut down for a while to get its affairs in order. The room I had was downright DIRTY, and even after reporting it to one of the front desk members, and asking that a manager contact me about the state of the room, nobody did. The same person I reported the room to and asked to have a manager call me checked me out, and when I asked why, the person shrugged and said "I told 'em!!" Great. Thanks. I invite you to view the pictures I've attached to this review to see for yourself. Issues include, but are not limited to: - Dirty, crusty carpet at various points in the room - Yellow-ish crusty stain on bedspread (YUCK), I never ate anything on the bed, so goes to show you that they don't change them out - Leakage/spillage in minifridge area - DISGUSTING trash-filled jacuzzi in the pool area: cordoned off by yellow tape, and full of gross water and candy wrappers and fast food bags - Dead flies in and sticky substance in the windowsill - Greasy children's handprints all over the wallpaper - One of the drawers under the TV wouldn't stay shut, even with nothing in it - Dust CRUSTED on air intake louvers - White flakes on the carpet that stayed the same even after multiple servicings of the room. Shows they didn't even bother to vacuum - Warped carpet in the hallway - They only serviced the room every three days, but obviously one needs trash taken out more than that. Trashcans by elevator stayed full with SAME OBJECTS in it for more than 24hrs They offer a coffee station downstairs, but had zero accomodation for tea drinkers. I asked if they had a kettle for the room I could borrow, and the front desk agent said "Kettle?!!?" like they had never heard of such a thing. I drink Tea, as do many other nationalities. To not have any solution for tea drinkers as a purported international standard brand, and at one of the nicest hotels in the city seemed baffling. They only service the rooms "every 3 days," but they clearly did not change out the bed linen or vacuum the room even on the days they allegedly clean the room. Seems they just threw some additional towels in the bathroom and made the bed. They didn't even empty the trash cans, I had to leave those in the hallway (full) to have them emptied. On the second day, I asked the attendant on my floor for some room spray so I can at least freshen up the room, she gave a cursory look at her cart and said "It seem I don't got none on here" and went back to cleaning the room she was in. I left the property and came back over 4 hours later. She was still working on my floor and asked her again for the room spray. She still didn't have any. So, NONE of the rooms on that floor got sprayed at all that day!?!? She was also listening to some hardcore rap on her phone that had n-words and f-bombs flying. I had to go downstairs to the front desk to ask for the spray, which they then told me the attendants have on their carts. Since you only get "service" every few days, you obviously need new towels before that time. They front desk will not accept used towels, they will only give you new ones, so by the end of the 3rd day, I had a pile of wet towels festering on the floor on the closet. This is one of a half-dozen sub-par stays I've now had with Marriott properties in the past year. I feel like they blew their wad acquiring all these brands and just are left with a bunch of mediocre hotels and no money to upgrade or maintain them. I've had status with Marriott for over a decade and things are just getting pitiful. It's so bad, in fact, that I'm in talks with Hilton HHonors for their status matching service, and can very easily switch credit cards from Bonvoy to HHonors. Marriott used to be such a reputable company with whom you ALWAYS had a great experience, but the last year has been just bottom of the barrel. This property, in particular, needs a whole new management team. You might see that I gave another Westin in the Boston area a scathing review, too. I'm DONE with Westin as a brand. Probably Marriott, too. Shameful, disappointing in the extreme, and disgraceful. Read less

The hotel is short 10 minute ride or less from the airport. It is very centrally located downtown amongst the museums, restaurants, and even Top Golf. It is also literally across the street from the new UAB Football Stadium. For the history buffs there are many historical Civil Rights locations within a mile walk. The staff was kind and helpful and checked us in quickly. The room was modern and had a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was very spacious with an open rainfall shower. Request a room away from the South side of the building if you’re a light sleeper since there is construction for the new stadium and the highway is nearby as well. Amenities: - Outdoor pool and spa with lots of seating - Large fitness room with many treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes. Also free weights and a cable machine - Starbucks in the lobby - WiFi (free versión was fast - Hotel Bar - Hotel shuttle Some restaurants nearby the hotel to include the one in the lobby were closed due to Covid. The bar in the lobby has light snacks. All hotel amenities were open with a mask and social distancing. Read less

We had dropped our daughter off at University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and needed to pick up a cabinet in Birmingham. My husband was also flying in from Boston so this was the perfect spot. At arrival we were told that parking was FREE (awesome perk) and that they had a FREE airport shuttle service. The kids (Teenagers) and I went to the gym (small but nice) and kids also checked out the shallow pool (more suited for little kids). Our rooms were perfectly appointed and very clean. This location is a short walk to Top Golf so we walked over and had apps and drinks while we waited for my husband who was able to utilize the airport shuttle. I can't recall the rate as I paid with points but I would definitely stay here again! My only issue was the next day I realized they charged me for both of my rooms when I booked through my credit card portal with points. A quick phone call and the issue was remedied but just keep an eye out. Read less

1 star hotel at 4 star rate. Mold growing at door stoop to room; trash under bed; smell was horrible and could not even use pillows from malodor; after I fell asleep was awoken from a fitful sleep by drunken man moaning in street; would not have stayed the night if it had been earlier in the night when we arrived and had an alternate place to go.

We stayed here last weekend and it was great. The room rate was very reasonable, the staff was very friendly, the location was perfect. The swimming pool is a little small but served its purpose. The gym was closed but that was to be expected with COVID-19. All in all I would have no issues recommending this hotel.
