I had a very bad experience at another local hotel and needed to move late at night, I was so pleased to find that the Ellis still had rooms available. The staff was so gracious in expediting my reservation process and getting me checked in so I could get settled into my room quickly. Derrick was working the front desk. He was incredibly empathetic and even helped me to have a sense of humor about my bad experience. He was efficient, kind, and quickly helped me to get reoriented. Would certainly stay again! Usually I stay in the midtown area but gave this hotel a shot due to a very good rate and I wasn't travelling with a car. Checked in around 8pm and was upgraded to a corner room that I guess had some additional space (I am a platinum). Room was clean and had a large TV with lots of channels. Bathroom was also a nice size. Decent amount of outlets in the room to charge things. All staff encountered were friendly. Continental breakfast included with my stay was adequate with a few choices. I appreciated they included hot oatmeal. Only issue I had was I got a knock from housekeeping on check out day at 8:45am to see if I was still there. Read less

When we were site seeing, she gave us directions and local info. The bartender in the hotel was so awesome but we forgot his name. Our room was clean, quiet and served its purpose. The location of this hotel is wonderful. When I woke up, I walked to Dunkin Donuts and L.J remembered me as I was walking out. Very "family" like vibes. When we checked out I met the famous Derrick everyone speaks of for his customer service. He was nice but L.J is better. :) Also Tori the valet was so friendly and talked to us about dogs because he saw our dogs beds in the car! Would definitely stay here again. Read less

Michael the doorman/bellhop was so kind, friendly and helpful. Derrick at check in was hilarious. The hotel is ok, but our room is so far below Marriott standards.
