The Ellis Hotel

Atlanta, Georgia

The hotel

A historic Peachtree landmark, the Ellis Hotel, boasts a legendary past and an impeccable tradition for guest service. A chic, boutique establishment, and the proud recipient of many awards, guests can enjoy a high standard of luxury as well as a rather unique range of amenities. What do we mean? Well, for a start there’s a Women’s Only Floor, ideal for the lone traveller or groups of girls, featuring private-access entry and upgraded amenities such as comfy slippers, curling iron and a kiss cam for your laptop so you can say goodnight and good morning to your loved ones back home. There’s also a Fresh-Air Floor (men allowed this time!) with a purified breathing environment that is allergen-free – you can breathe deeply as much as you like if you choose a room on this floor! You’ll also enjoy complimentary WiFi throughout the hotel, a workout room and morning coffee in the lobby. Terrace Bistro & Restaurant is definitely one of the places to eat on Peachtree, situated at ground level, with tables and chairs spilling out onto the street. It’s a great place to feast on delicious American Southern Bistro-Style dishes whilst watching the world go by.

This Historic Boutique hotel, right in the middle of Downtown, was perfect for my short trip to Atlanta. The MARTA train stop is located right outside the front door and everything else is very walkable (no need for a car). There are several Restaurants and Attractions within walking distance, I ate in the hotel's restaurant twice and was extremely satisfied. The front desk agent was very polite and courteous, in fact all of the staff that I encountered were on point and seemed to be very happy. The General Manager even came by my table to say hello while I was in the Restaurant and checked to make sure that guests were enjoying themselves. From the minute that I pulled up in my car, until the time that I left, was a positive experience. I definately will stay again, and if you are able to upgrade to a suite, it's well worth the money. I stayed one night for business on June 25, 2019. I chose the hotel due to its location to my meeting location, its proximity to transportation, and price. The service was very good. Check in was easy and I found the staff to be friendly and efficient. I had checked in and was on my way to my room very shortly after completing registration. The staff took extra care to explain the elevators (room key required) and note a few of the dining options nearby. The room and property were as described (note that I made reservations through a company travel agent and not Travelocity). I stayed in a standard king room and found the room to be on the small side. Particularly the bathroom. Though the room featured modern decor, I found the room and furniture to be slightly worn and generally in need of freshening. The bedding was comfortable and clean. It provided a good night's rest. I was on the twelfth floor and did not notice street noise overnight. The location was perfect for my stay as I had a short walk to my meeting location and I had arrived in town on MARTA train. The Peachtree MARTA station is adjacent to the hotel. Had I had the need to travel a bit, a bike share is adjacent to the MARTA entrance as a well as the shared scooters which, quite literally, litter the downtown Atlanta sidewalks. Note that parking at the hotel is by valet only and quite expensive, greater than $40 per day. The only hotel amenity that I made use of was the hotel restaurant. I found the restaurant to be adequate, though pricey. As I mentioned earlier, the best amenity for this hotel is its location with lots of dining and attractions nearby. Overall, I found the hotel to be solid. I would stay here again for business. The bedding was comfortable and the location was great. The negatives for this hotel are small rooms in need of freshening, and limited and very expensive parking options (I parked at a MARTA station with long term parking and took the train downtown), Read less

Boutique hotel? Hmmm. Downtown location. Staff very nice. Room was small to average. Bed very comfortable. Bathroom small. Shower door swings out and makes it difficult to maneuver. Toilet has elongated bowl and regular seat so there’s a gap at the end-lol. Major complaint is the room AC which cycles on and off and rattles. I contacted the… Read more
