The Ellis Hotel

Atlanta, Georgia

The hotel

A historic Peachtree landmark, the Ellis Hotel, boasts a legendary past and an impeccable tradition for guest service. A chic, boutique establishment, and the proud recipient of many awards, guests can enjoy a high standard of luxury as well as a rather unique range of amenities. What do we mean? Well, for a start there’s a Women’s Only Floor, ideal for the lone traveller or groups of girls, featuring private-access entry and upgraded amenities such as comfy slippers, curling iron and a kiss cam for your laptop so you can say goodnight and good morning to your loved ones back home. There’s also a Fresh-Air Floor (men allowed this time!) with a purified breathing environment that is allergen-free – you can breathe deeply as much as you like if you choose a room on this floor! You’ll also enjoy complimentary WiFi throughout the hotel, a workout room and morning coffee in the lobby. Terrace Bistro & Restaurant is definitely one of the places to eat on Peachtree, situated at ground level, with tables and chairs spilling out onto the street. It’s a great place to feast on delicious American Southern Bistro-Style dishes whilst watching the world go by.

Anna Kim was extremely sweet, way before I checked in! She made sure I was well taken care of, as well as everyone else that worked there. I enjoyed my stay and they made me feel very comfortable. The only thing that I wasn't to happy about was my last night there the AC in my room went out. The sink was also clogged, but overall everything was… Read more

In Atlanta where many hotels seem huge the space in the hotel in addition to the staff. In particular Nisha, LJ and Troy. Having a lovely smiling face on the evening after a long day was nice. Nisha made me feel so welcome. I was a little sad to go and hope it stays as good of a place with clean city rooms.

Stay Report - 6/29 to 6/30 Location: The location is ideal if you want to be in Downtown Atlanta.  It's at Peachtree Center one block north of the Westin and across the street from an entrance to the Peachtree Center MARTA.  This means an 18 minute ride to the airport via MARTA.  You can walk to a bunch of different hotels and restaurants very easily.  Do note that this area did receive some damage during the recent riots but the hotel itself was not damaged.  It is also a little sketchy to walk around at night but that's most of downtown. Hotel: The hotel is over 100 years old and has quite the history.  It's very modern now though with a small lobby with a restaurant and bar (though both are currently closed).  The doors are locked at all times and you have to use a keycard or be buzzed in for entry.  Valet parking is still available at $48 per night. Check In: I arrived at 7 PM and was told I was upgraded to a higher floor, asked if I wanted a late checkout and given the Titanium welcome amenity points. Room: A little on the small side but much nicer than the adjacent Westin.  I was glad to find a desk and the TV is set up for Internet TV.  The bathroom was very nice as were the Gilcrest and Soames bath products. Dining:  As I mentioned the restaurant is currently closed.  You can buy a bag with yogurt, a granola bar and juice for $6 and it's not free for elites.  I suggest just going to Dunkin Donuts two blocks away like I did. Overall a nice property and a fun change of pace from the massive Westin.   Read less

I thought that the staff was utterly fantastic, but I had a few issues. First, there's no parking at this hotel, so you have to rely on public parking garages. The nearest garage will charge you $40 for overnight parking. There was no fridge in my room, and I also couldn't get the room cold enough. I turned the thermostat down to 60 degrees F,… Read more

The nearest garage will charge you $40 for overnight parking. There was no fridge in my room, and I also couldn't get the room cold enough. I turned the thermostat down to 60 degrees F, but the room did not get as cold as I wished. I was there for 2 nights, so that meant I spent $80 in parking fees, which adds substantially to the nightly fee. The location is good--a MARTA station is across the street--but I won't be staying there the next time I'm in Atlanta. Read less
