I worked in a hotel industry for almost a decade and I know what good customer service is. Some of the staff at this hotel is just horrible and shouldn’t work in this industry if they find it hard to be nice and helpful. I am an elite Bonvoy Marriott member and I was overcharged for this room through their app. One thing that was surprising to me is that they don’t have a 10$ coffee maker in their room. If you want coffee or tea you have to walk few miles to the nearest coffee shop. The blinds and curtains in their room don’t function properly so I would get woken up by the sun rays every morning around 6am. The room looked old and some of the things in it didn’t function as it should have. The thing that irritated me the most was when I had called the front desk to ask for a late check out, a security guy answered the phone and I asked him if I could get a late check out because of my flight delay, he immediately and without even letting me finish the sentence lied and said they were booked and they couldn’t do it. I had consequently gone downstairs to speak with an actual front desk person and the lady that worked this morning said that they could definitely give me a late checkout and apologized about the lies their security guy gave me. I work as a liaison for pharmaceutical companies and I’ve brought a lot of business to this brand of hotels. After this experience I’m going to take my business to other Marriott or even Hilton brands because I am also a Hilton honors member. Horrible service at this hotel. Will never stay at the W again. My husband and I stayed here for a quick weekend getaway. As usually, the W Hotel’s lobby gives me a sense of modern plus chic design. This was definitely an A+ in my book. I rated my stay as a 3 stars because on our final night in the wee hours of the morning there was a couple arguing in what we assumed was the hallway on the 15th floor and we thought we heard a gun shot. I had to call the front desk from my mobile phone because every time I tried to call from the room phone no one would answer. Authorities supposedly came up about the incident and 20 minutes later the same couple was arguing again. I called the front desk clerk again and she was extremely rude saying there wasn't an argument and that I would have to call from the same room phone that no one would answer. Read less

The hotel was beautiful and the customer service was good. After checking into my room I noticed that it was a lot of noise going on on my floor. Due to the current condition with COVID-19 I didn’t want to request to change the room because I know it would inconvenience the hotel. So I just waited until night time in hopes that the noise will go down. I was awaken about 2 AM with loud music, confrontation, and banging on hotel doors on my floor. I stepped out to politely ask whoever it was stop but the noise did not. The next day I went out into the hallway and it was disgusting, trash was everywhere on the floor. Not to mention the elevator smelled like marijuana. After I left to go eat breakfast and came back to the hotel housekeeping had already cleaned up the mess. The housekeeper in the hallway apologize for the mess and gave me extra towels and took my trash out. I was very grateful for that especially after the inconvenience of noise and trash in the hall. For the rest of my stay I tried to not be in the hotel as much due to the noise levels. Sunday night I was awaken by the smell of cigarettes, it was very disgusting and disgusting since I have asthma. Monday morning I checked out and stopped by the front desk to get an overview of the charges just to make sure that my room service discount was taken off. it wasn’t taken off so they did correct it before I left. This morning I woke up to an additional charge from the hotel which then put my account into an overdraft because now I’ve paid over $1000 in hotel fees. I’ve called the hotel three times this morning and every time I call I’m transferred to Allison Floyd and accountant who’s not answering my calls or returning them. At this point I’m very disappointed and just about to call my bank to start a dispute. Read less

With wonderful service and a great location a block away from the National Center for Civil and Human Rights and the World of Coca-Cola, the W Atlanta is a great place to stay downtown. Unfortunately, the rooms are hit or miss, with some average and some in need of a refresh. Check-in: Arriving in a large group, it took some time for the staff to arrange rooms for everyone, so we had to wait almost an hour to get our rooms. This would have been understandable if we had all requested that the rooms be together, but we had not, and our reservation had been on the books for almost a month. This provided a rocky start to what was otherwise very pleasant service during our stay. Room: Since I was travelling in a large group, I had an opportunity to see several different rooms at the hotel. The one I was assigned felt very dated, with mediocre lighting and visible scratches on some of the woodwork. There was also a strange layout, with the entrance to the room offset from the rest of a room that wasted valuable space. My room also appeared to be missing one of the two cordless phones usually provided in rooms at W hotels. Other rooms seemed to be much better, even within the same category. They had obviously been updated slightly, with cleaner walls and nicer fixtures. Some rooms even appeared to have a newer TV than others. All other rooms I visited also had both cordless phones. Also unlike many rooms I saw which had an opaque mirror on the bathroom wall, my room had a frosted translucent piece of glass that allowed you to see the shadow of whoever was in the bathroom, which could be a little creepy. Aside from that, the bathrooms were well-lit and had large tubs and sinks, which I appreciated. I also liked that the bathroom door pivoted to close between the toilet room and the full bathroom as a way to conserve space, though I would have appreciated a door to the bathtub area, so that someone could use the bathtub while maintaining access to the toilet and sink. Amenities: Overall, this hotel had pretty good amenities. There was a good-sized outdoor pool with an adjoining wet bar, though I was unable to use any of those facilities since they close pretty early during the winter. There was also a nice fitness center, though I would have expected something larger in a 4-star hotel. Overall, things looked pretty dead visiting the facilities at 9pm during the winter months. There as also a nice bar adjacent to the lobby with a DJ performing every Friday and Saturday night. For those that are interested in arriving in style, there is also a helicopter pad on the roof of the building. Service: Overall, service was very good during my stay. Aside from the check-in hiccup, staff were very helpful, and always greeted you with a smile. On the 2nd day of my stay, the manager was standing in the lobby and greeted me personally, asking if there was anything she could do to improve my stay. It was those kinds of touches that really made the staff shine. Bottom line: For a business trip when you are occupied most of the time, this hotel provides a comfortable bed to sleep in and a wonderful staff to make your stay a smooth one. If you care more about your hotel experience, there are likely better places to stay that would provide more up to date rooms and better amenities. Read less
