W Atlanta Buckhead

Atlanta, Georgia

The hotel

W Atlanta does things differently. Dressed in the latest designer gear, from bold statement furniture to funky light fittings, it lives up to W Hotels’ hip and slick image. But it’s not all style and no substance; it’s also seconds from Atlanta’s famous Peachtree Street – in fact, you’ll see it as you swim in the infinity edge rooftop pool or dine on the patio of cool and contemporary Cook Hall. Rubbing shoulders with Atlanta’s best retail spots, from Lenox Square Mall to Phipps Plaza Mall, you may find lugging shopping bags is all the exercise you need but, if not, W Atlanta’s fitness centre is open 24/7. And, when you want somewhere to show off your new purchases, you can always dress to impress and head up to the ‘mod-meets-70s glamour’ of its Whiskey Blue Atlanta bar and terrace.

BEAUTIFUL hotel, in a very ritzy part of Atlanta. MANY shops and restaurants nearby. Expect to pay $40 a night in Valet, as self-parking is not available. The rooms are modern, clean and very nice- but the mattress was sup-par. The rooms are stacked with liquor, wine and snacks- but be prepared to pay big time for them! The rooms are modern, clean and very nice- but the mattress was sup-par. The rooms are stacked with liquor, wine and snacks- but be prepared to pay big time for them! For example, a regular sized Snickers was $7, a standard bottle of Crown was $210! I recommend bringing snacks with you, as NOTHING is complimentary, even after the pretty penny you paid for the room. The Pool is off the 4th floor, and is a very small area. It definitely didn’t match the “nice-ness” of the hotel, but does have a pretty cool view of Peachtree Blvd. Read less

I dont know where to begin! I decided on a staycation here for our 3rd Anniversary. I told David Micheal (concierge) the day before check in I wanted to make it special for my husband. I dropped the items off a couple of hours before we were checking in and returned with my husband...MIND BLOWN... the room was set up so BEAUTIFULLY!!! Quinten stayed late just to make sure everything was PERFECT for us and it was! Everyone we encountered wished us a HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! We went to the rooftop bar and THEY even made us feel like we were the only patrons there! The customer service is out of bounds!!! This is definitely my favorite ANNIVERSARY staycation so far!!! If you are visiting Atlanta for a special occasion OR NOT, PLEASE STAY HERE!!! Plus the location is walking distance to EVERYTHING you need! Thank David Micheal and Quinten as well as the ENTIRE W Buckhead Team! Read less

I booked a room at the W in January for the night of March 30. I even requested early check in. I arrived on March 30 at 3:30 pm. And even though check in is at 3, we were told our room wasn’t ready and to enjoy a $35 drink credit while we waited 35-40 minutes. The whole reason we got there when we did is because we were going to a concert that started early. I’ve attached the line up. I expected to see 4 artists. Our room ended up not being ready until 6:15 and we didn’t get our bags brought up to change until 6:45. We got to the concert and in the venue in time to see two songs by one artist and all of George strait. When we got back I expressed I had VIP tickets and could have met the artists and had phenomenal seats. I paid $1392 for these tickets. We were given another $50 drink credit and told I would be given enough reward points equal to a nights stay. That also never happened. I missed an experience I can never get back and $85 drink credit was the compensation. I’m not sure if that’s more infuriating or insulting. I called, emailed, and filled out a survey, but never heard back. I am a single mom and teacher. These high dollar events and nights out our extremely rare. It was completely ruined by the W. Prior to staying I had even told people I was as excited about staying at the W as I was about this once in a lifetime concert event. I’m still heartbroken and sick over missing 3/4 of a concert I paid so much to see. Read less

Absolutely terrible. TERRIBLE. The only reason I'm leaving a star is because I have to. We got there at 5 on a Friday with our check in time at 3 and the room still wasn't ready. When we got into our room, we didn't have a remote to the tv and we called about getting one and they knocked on our door at 2am with a remote. The "sheet" on the bed… Read more

When we got into our room, we didn't have a remote to the tv and we called about getting one and they knocked on our door at 2am with a remote. The "sheet" on the bed (which was just a nylon Matress cover) was completely dirty with what looked like mascara and sweat stains. We originally held the room on a separate card and paid with a different one and the card we held the room on got charged over $200 and the card we used to pay got charged the full amount of valet and what the rooms cost. We called to dispute the $200 charge and were hung up on multiple times and then they basically refused to refund the money and told us to file a claim with our bank. DO NOT STAY HERE! We will definitely not be back and we will be contacting corporate. Read less

I am so tired of hotels that think mood is more important than the basics! The W is so focused on manufacturing a hip ambiance that they are forgetting what should be every hotel's priorities: comfort, service, and value. For what you pay here, you deserve better. For example: the room was small and cluttered. the bathroom was surprisingly inefficient, with no place for stuff – not enough racks for towels. I was alone on this trip, and it was bad enough with one, so had I been here with my wife it would have been really bad. Another example: in all my travels I have never had a business center charge me to print a boarding pass. The W wanted to charge big money to do anything, by the minute. This is just exploitative high-end hotel silliness. Bottom line folks, you have better choices in Buckhead! Two of my favorites are the JW Marriott (super-high-end, literally connected to the Lenox Metro Station which is great when its 90-degrees outside), and the Wingate by Wyndham (not as central a location but great value, free parking if you have a car, and the most friendly staff I've ever seen.) Do yourself a favor and give the W a pass. Read less
