The hotel

A hip hotel in a hot location, the W Atlanta - Midtown boasts one of the best addresses in Atlanta. From the moment you step inside, you’ll know you’re somewhere special. This is the W – and no comfort has been spared! As well as Wonderful Rooms, Spectacular Rooms and Fantastic Suites, all with supremely comfortable signature W beds, you’ll find amenities galore. The outdoor pool, set on the 5th-floor rooftop, is perfect to relax by and the Bliss Spa will help you unwind. Treatments include a Ginger Rub, Triple Oxygen Treatment and, what has to be our favourite, a Hangover Herbie! Trace is newly opened but already it’s gaining a reputation as a great place to eat. Utilising fresh seasonal ingredients sourced from local farms, this is southern soul food at its finest. After dinner, where to next? Well, with its oversized chandeliers and rock and roll glam, Rande Gerber’s Whiskey Park is one of the places to be seen in Atlanta. And the good news is – W guests get to skip the line!

Micah Andrews and his colleagues all took excellent care of me during my stay. The room was clean and ready when I needed it, the pool was a nice oasis, and everyone I interacted with was quite friendly.

I have stayed at the W Midtown three times now and I always feel like I have arrived to a vacation party when I arrive. They go out of their way to make you feel like you are VIP. In one day they had salsa dancing for guests, a pool party offering free drinks, bracelet making and massages and an all white attire party going on upstairs. When I was waiting for one of my friends to come downstairs I was waiting next to a few actors for a new television series shooting that day. Even though the party is going on right downstairs I found the rooms to be quite, comfortable and relaxing. It's walking distance from the park and botanical gardens which is a huge plus. They offer a lovely breakfast and nice restaurants are walking distance. All of the staff welcome you and offer assistance when needed. Read less

I chose the W Atlanta - Midtown because of a friend’s wedding. I am Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite (from the good ol’ SPG days). I was lucky to be greeted by Naziba A. at the front desk. She was genuinely warm, friendly, and attentive. Honestly, this was the first time I felt a front desk agent was genuine when thanking me for being a Bonvoy Elite (usually I get the feeling that the agents are just going through the motions when making note of it). I was traveling with my partner and Naziba acknowledged him and also welcomed him to the hotel. She surprised and delighted me with the Manager’s complimentary breakfast buffet vouchers. It’s worth noting that the weekend buffet lasts until 12 pm which is great if you want to sleep in, yet have a nice breakfast. Denise, the omelette station chef, was also a friendly and warm personality. The other breakfast lounge attendants were similarly nice. I regret that I didn’t get their names. Denise poured her heart and love into making my customized omelette. She was genuinely proud of the food that she was serving me. That’s rare to find these days. Back to Naziba and the Friday night manager: I called from my room and asked if they had any rooms with the tv directly in front of the bed(s). Naziba was not bothered or annoyed by my request. Her manager went upstairs to find out if an available room had the tv setup the way I preferred. A few minutes later Naziba said we could switch to the other room. Naziba’s hassle-free and genuine personality should be the standard at every Marriott portfolio property. She’s definitely part of the upper tier of customer-facing employees I’ve ever interacted with and it’s because she sincerely wanted to make sure I was happy with my choice to stay at the W. Thank you, Naziba, for your hospitality. And please thank Denise for the awesome omelette! Read less

This could be a beautiful hotel but I was very frustrated jay they put me in a room overlooking a very large construction site. The vibrations and noise from jackhammers woke me up very early. I told them I needed to change rooms as soon as I woke up and she said she would send someone right up. An hour later, no one had shown up and I called again explaining that I needed to get to a conference and no one had come to help me switch rooms. They said someone was coming then and that they’d help me with my bags. Instead, someone showed up with a new key and I had to gather everything without a luggage cart and move myself. Also, I had 3 boxes shipped to the hotel for the conference and they arrived the day I checked in, about 3 hours before I got there. When I checked out, I saw a hotel charge for $60 for “package handling.” For a hotel claiming to have great service, this was unacceptable. Read less
