Hotel Indigo Savannah Historic District

Savannah, Georgia

The hotel

Not satisfied with just being amid the history of Savannah, Hotel Indigo is part of it. Housed in the Guckenheimer, a red-brick corner building which first debuted in the 1850s, this boutique hotel’s had something of a renaissance. Its 19th century shell cloaks modernised interiors, where bespoke murals cover walls, plush rugs dress hardwood floors, and mod cons include complimentary WiFi. It may feel like they’ve been given the key to a designer magazine’s stock room, but Hotel Indigo hasn’t lost its Southern charm. It’s the first thing that greets you at Five Oaks Taproom, closely followed by local Georgia beer and farm-fresh food. Nicknamed ‘Grand Lady of the Bay’ by locals, if you fancy dining out, you’re just a block from City Market and River Street.

This hotel from parking to checking out was great. The hotel’s location is perfect and keeps you in the action. I want to give a special mention to Alicia. We were having some minor issues and she went above and beyond to make sure we were accommodated. Not only that she followed up with us to ensure we were satisfied. We were having some minor issues and she went above and beyond to make sure we were accommodated. Not only that she followed up with us to ensure we were satisfied. The hotel itself was good but they way my family was treated by staff made all the difference and would be the reason I would stay here again. Thank you for making a quick weekend getaway feel like a true vacation. I will recommend this hotel to friends and family. Cons: valet is expensive; breakfast wasn’t worth the $17; and room wasn’t cleaned until after 5. Read less

I found the historical district quite charming, but industrial as it’s been worked in the past. I think they’ve made the most room and did the best job with the older buildings available converting to hotels. It has what we needed, the staff and everyone there was absolutely so kind and helpful. Even though it rained with a chill, we walked… Read more

Room was clean. Park a block away at Whitaker for MUCH less than the valet. Room was very small and we paid more for a river view, but there is not much of a view. We are on the 6th floor and still have to crane our necks to see a tiny view. No mini fridge in the rooms unless you request one. There is room service, but we also had to request a… Read more

My friend and I had a marvelous stay at this hotel in downtown Savannah. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. Kudos to Charles and Randy, the two gentlemen at the valet for enlightening us on the best local food and taking exceptional care of my friend and I. We did not eat at the restaurant and bar because the prices were high. I was not impressed with the carpet squares in the entrance to the hall and in between the beds in our room as they were tacky and not secured. There were also missing pieces. Read less

This hotel has a great location in the historical district making many attractions an easy walk. Please don’t get me wrong as I’m a retired hotelier and I do grade at a four star level. Living room furniture was not comfortable as the backs are to far back and short (not able to test my head). Lay out is very comfortable and operates as designed.… Read more
This hotel has a great location in the historical district making many attractions an easy walk. Please don’t get me wrong as I’m a retired hotelier and I do grade at a four star level. Living room furniture was not comfortable as the backs are to far back and short (not able to test my head). Lay out is very comfortable and operates as designed. Bathroom is appointed well and stylish. Drink/Coffee center worked with ease. My only suggestion is to loose the coffee tray that restricts cleaning of the overflow tray of the Keurig coffee maker. The bedroom is spacious and comfortable. Since there were room service trays and wine glasses in the corridor for 2-1/2 days after arriving I did notify the Front Desk to have them removed. I will not patronize Food and Beverage operations that will not pay attention to details and not perform their duties. Regarding the Valet Parking, service was Promt and courteous. I read a lot of negative comments regarding the fee. All I have to say is I prefer a secure lot when I use downtown hotel parking. This is not a free amenity and price fairly. I will return. Read less
