Hotel Indigo Savannah Historic District

Savannah, Georgia

The hotel

Not satisfied with just being amid the history of Savannah, Hotel Indigo is part of it. Housed in the Guckenheimer, a red-brick corner building which first debuted in the 1850s, this boutique hotel’s had something of a renaissance. Its 19th century shell cloaks modernised interiors, where bespoke murals cover walls and plush rugs dress hardwood floors. It may feel like they’ve been given the key to a designer magazine’s stock room, but Hotel Indigo hasn’t lost its Southern charm. It’s the first thing that greets you at Five Oaks Taproom, closely followed by local Georgia beer and farm-fresh food. Nicknamed ‘Grand Lady of the Bay’ by locals, if you fancy dining out, you’re just a block from City Market and River Street.

My husband did not get as sick as I was he was feeling better by the 20th but on the 20th I was running 105.3 temperature. I called my doctor and she said there was a virus going around if I could not get my temperature down to go to the emergency room. We got it down we stayed at home my husband called on the 20th to tell them we would not be coming they said we could not get our money back or use our credit without a doctors note. Our doctor said not to come in when we told him that they said we need A doctors note. Well I didn’t have one so we were in Savannah this past weekend for July 4. did not stay at this hotel, but I went to pay a visit talked to the lady working the desk, who said she was a manager. told her everything and she said well that virus wasn’t out in February, EXCUSE ME?! Will never ever stay here and I recommend no one else to do so either unless you can’t stay somewhere else! Read less

We stayed at the Hotel Indigo and the kids were very impressed with how fancy it is. The room was beautiful and the location couldn’t be better. If you are wanting a quiet stay, I don’t know if it’s the best choice. The hotel is right next to City Market, where all the action is. Our room was on the corner by the Crown Pie and Club One, so we could hear people at the City Market all night. We were fine with that and the kids thought it was exciting! The ladies at the front desk were all very kind and helpful and really made us feel welcome. They were slammed when we first got there and had several customers and phone calls to deal with amidst all the COVID-19 restrictions, but they were always polite and helpful. The beds were comfortable, there was a mini fridge and a coffeemaker, and we enjoyed our stay. We will stay here again when we are in town. Read less

This hotel is in a great location with all the main Savannah high street, bars, shops and river only a short walk away. We paid for a double Queen sweet as there were four of us but the room was too small for four. It was like they squeezed an extra bed in a normal room. Also the only sink was in the actual bedroom not in the bathroom. However,… Read more

We paid for a double Queen sweet as there were four of us but the room was too small for four. It was like they squeezed an extra bed in a normal room. Also the only sink was in the actual bedroom not in the bathroom. However, as a sole occupant or couple it would be fine. Also, they had all the downstairs bar, restaurant and breakfast service closed down due to covid (which is completely understandable) but for some reason they also closed the downstairs restrooms so you had to go all the way up to your room which all seemed a bit odd. My hubby and I wanted to get away to Savannah and chose the Hotel Indigo because of its location and price . The room was super clean and icy cold which was delightful after riding our bikes each day. What truly made my visit ( even more so than the yummy food) was that upon arriving home I realized I had left some personal items in the drawer or our room. At first I was like “ Oh well, it was mostly costume jewelry and an old bra...no biggie”. Then when I remembered a few pieces of jewelry I had received as gifts were part of the things I left behind I called the Hotel to see if anyone had turned the items in- I reached the front desk and Alicia was very professional and friendly and informed me someone had indeed turned in a bag with some jewelry and miscellaneous items. She told me her GM would be calling me in a few days to obtain some more info to return my treasure. I was elated and relieved because nothing in the bag was very valuable except for sentimentally. Many Thanks to Alicia and the hotel for bringing back my little treasures. Read less
