Hotel Indigo Savannah Historic District

Savannah, Georgia

The hotel

Not satisfied with just being amid the history of Savannah, Hotel Indigo is part of it. Housed in the Guckenheimer, a red-brick corner building which first debuted in the 1850s, this boutique hotel’s had something of a renaissance. Its 19th century shell cloaks modernised interiors, where bespoke murals cover walls, plush rugs dress hardwood floors, and mod cons include complimentary WiFi. It may feel like they’ve been given the key to a designer magazine’s stock room, but Hotel Indigo hasn’t lost its Southern charm. It’s the first thing that greets you at Five Oaks Taproom, closely followed by local Georgia beer and farm-fresh food. Nicknamed ‘Grand Lady of the Bay’ by locals, if you fancy dining out, you’re just a block from City Market and River Street.

Great Location, very near the river and lots of places to eat. Valet parking not cheap but helpful staff and makes life easy. We did have a few problems with our room being serviced properly. Lovely member of staff was very good sorting it out. Special mention to Destiny who looked after us very well at Breakfast

Stay away from the Indigo in Savannah. From the start, beware of the "hidden" parking and pet fees, especially the pet fees! Look to pay over 200% more than you paid for your room. Beyond this, very unclean rooms and we found the staff to be extremely rude(especially the manager). There are so many great places in Savannah, would never stay here… Read more

I planned a Romantic Getaway for 6 months. There are so many options in the Historic district and I was so intrigued in the Eichberg Suite I held it for months. But upon check in, there was a delay of at least 45 mins. I was ok with that as it happens, so they were to call my phone. Upon returning, no one had called and we went to the desk but no… Read more

But upon check in, there was a delay of at least 45 mins. I was ok with that as it happens, so they were to call my phone. Upon returning, no one had called and we went to the desk but no one remembered me. I was told it would be another 45 minutes, this brought us to after 6 pm. I now had to cancel our dinner reservations I had for months. All I was offered was a free breakfast. I came up with the only solution offered after that. Just give us a room. It was substandard and I can't believe how bad we were treated. I'm a vet with PTSD. I was so upset through the night. I paid for a different room and a different hotel the next night just to leave. The manager was finally onsite and was excellent. But the damage had been done. She did help out with a lot of the bill as the Suite was non refundable. But shame on this hotel and the staff. They ruined our Friday night. Read less

We were very happy we chose to stay in the historic district . It was walking distance to everything we had planned to do in Savannah. The hotel itself was fine. We were very happy we chose to stay in the historic district . It was walking distance to everything we had planned to do in Savannah. The hotel itself was fine. We had a couple of issues which made our stay less than 5 star . We were given vouchers for a drink at the bar and then we were told the drinks we ordered were not covered by the vouchers. Rhounay , the front desk supervisor , assisted us in resolving this and our vouchers were honored . The security bolt in our room was not working and again Rhounay did what she could to resolve the issue. Thanks Rhounay. Next time I would probably chose a smaller, less hectic hotel with a bit more charm. Read less

Location was perfect we self parked in a lot one block away. So easy and inexpensive. And we did not need the car until we explored tybee beach. Okay, now for the hotel....room was fine. Housekeeping needed reminders to put clean coffee mugs in our room - ultimately, Rhounay, the front desk supervisor did that for us. More about Rhounay in a second. We received comp drink voucher that we used at the hotel bar. The bartender did not have the best attitude. She told us our drinks were not covered - only beer and house wine. I went to Rhounay at the front desk and she gave us the full amount off the drinks. The drinks we ordered weren’t even made according to menu description. When asked about the added club soda, which was obviously used to fill glass, the Bartender replied she added just a splash! Our room bolt did not work. Rhounay had hotel engineer look at it and he needed to order part. She gave us a percent off room bill. Rhounay couldn’t have been more friendlier, kind, and customer service related. She was AWESOME. So thank you Rhounay. Read less
