21c Museum Hotel

Louisville, Kentucky

The hotel

A hotel and a contemporary art museum combined, 21c is pretty unique! Chic and boutique, the hotel prides itself on offering the highest standard of service in comfortable surrounds. When you’re not admiring your room, admire the art instead with thought-provoking exhibitions and interactive art installations on display. 21c is also home to an award-winning restaurant and a bar hailed as one of the best in America, serving an impressive bourbon selection and inventive cocktails – a Caroline Rose anyone, or a Poison Arrow? Jonathan Searle is Head Chef at the restaurant and the menu showcases the best of southern cuisine, including delights such as Cornmeal Fried KY Carp, Stewed Okra and Skillet Cornbread. The deserts are pretty special too with Fried Peach Hand Pies and Sweet Corn Cookies to tempt you.

Stated only for one night but was a good experience. Staff was super nice, the room was good (it helped that it was a corner room with many windows) and the chicken from the downstairs restaurant for room service: It must’ve been one of the best chickens we’ve eaten. $30 for valet is a little bit steep for the area, you might find a more… Read more

But overall: Would definitely go back and one day in the future we’ll also dine at their restaurant given the food was excellent. Read less

We had an amazing trip to Louisville Downtown and our stay at 21C museum Hotel was wonderful. We celebrated my wife 60th birthday. Thank you to Adrian at front desk, very friendly and accommodating even if it's his first week, I can say he is a great asset of your hotel. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Well travel during the time of Covid is interesting. The21C Museum Hotel seems to take the safety of their guests seriously. The bed was very comfortable and I was surprised how quiet the whole place was. The art throughout the building is really neat and it adds to the calming feel of the establishment. I have to give props to Ashley at the front desk, she was very helpful and incredibly polite. Knowledgeable of the surrounding are and always had a smile on her face. Park at the garage next door.. can't beat $9 a day. Read less

One of the most unassuming yet rad places we’ve stayed. The main bummer was that they only had two single beds available, and even though we added another night- they couldn’t find us any sort of solution. We ended up sleeping in separate beds because the beds were tiny! (That’s the main reason its not 5 stars). The lighting was good but the… Read more

We ended up sleeping in separate beds because the beds were tiny! (That’s the main reason its not 5 stars). The lighting was good but the headboard display was falling apart. The triple steam spout sculpture outside was mesmerizing. It was a cool location, though everything downtown is still boarded up. We just walked to Indiana to kick it instead. Otherwise, the staff was great, parking was easy, and it was a comfortable home base for the three nights we crashed in Louisville. Read less

I was so disappointed with my 4 night stay. The hotel was practically empty so I was expecting much better service. It seemed like I was actually bothering the receptionist by checking in. I was asking questions about what there was to do in the area and I could barely get an answer from her. The room had a small window and was very dark. I asked to be moved to a room with more windows. The next room had 2 small windows but was a little brighter and I was happy with the switch until I went into the bathroom to take a shower and discovered that the drain was covered in human hair, that was not mine! completely disgusting that the shower had not been cleaned, especially in these times. Makes you wonder what else hasn't been cleaned. I went down to reception and a young man was manning the desk. When I showed him a photo of how dirty and full of hair the shower was, he asked me what I wanted to do. I was floored that I didn't receive an apology. I received a shrug of the shoulders and the same dark room as when I checked in. I moved hotels as soon as hotel Distil had an availabilty. I couldn't imagine 8 nights in this dungeon. Read less
