The Brown Hotel

Louisville, Kentucky

The hotel

This self-coined ‘Louisville legend’ promises all the old-world Southern charm you came for, and the modern luxuries you need, like complimentary WiFi and airport transfers. Right opposite Brown Theatre, it’s been attracting the ‘it crowd’ for almost a century now, many turning up just for its ‘Hot Brown’ sandwich. Created as a late-night treat for dinner dance guests in the 1920s, it’s been raved about everywhere from the New York Times to TV’s Man v Food. In fact, it’s so good, it’s available in all its eateries, featuring alongside The English Grill’s fine dining-meets-Kentucky dishes; J Graham’s Café’s casual fare; and the Lobby Bar’s treats like lobster ‘mac and cheese’. Before leaving (or better still the second you arrive), try its bourbon cocktails too; you are in Kentucky after all.

Amazing hotel. Interior is amazing. I stayed for 3 nights and the service was exceptional. All of the staff I interacted with was great. My room was a corner room and was very spacious. I cant wait to return.

First of all the place is really lovely and quite charming....elegant as well. We did not eat there or party there only enjoyed staying in a nice hotel. The room was quiet, and Nicely appointed. The bed was really comfy, I thought the pillows were a bit bulky but I was in the minority opinion on that matter. The gift shop is outrageously expensive but worth a gander none the less. I think it was on Saturday May 11 or 12 early in the morning I approached the front desk with a question. A woman in her 50 s was manning the desk alone and was clearly on a personal call with her cell. She looked me square in the eye, did not acknowledge me, but continued to talk and talk, I gave her plenty of time to finish and waited patiently. But, she made the choice to ignore me. I tired to contact the hotel to report this but I was unsuccessful. So this is my only means to pass on the word. Stay here at The Brown. You will enjoy it. Forgive my venting. Read less

My family of four stayed very comfortably on the club level this weekend. Check-in was fast and easy. Amount available and quality of the food and drink on the Club Level during Happy Hour and Breakfast was perfect. Our daughters felt so special they were on the club level. Beds were very comfortable. Turn down service was a nice touch as well. The lobby bar service is always classy and are very knowledgeable about local happenings; especially around Derby season. The Hot Brown is a winner along with the cheeseburger. Can’t go wrong! Highly recommend staying at the Brown Hotel at least once on your way into town. You won’t be disappointed! Read less

Great hotel in downtown Louisville. Wonderful change of pace from the usual chain offerings. Classic old style hotel, but room is spacious and has all the amenities you would want and then some. Ate at the ground floor cafe twice for lunch and had top notch food and service.
