The Brown Hotel

Louisville, Kentucky

The hotel

This self-coined ‘Louisville legend’ promises all the old-world Southern charm you came for, and the modern luxuries you need, like complimentary WiFi and airport transfers. Right opposite Brown Theatre, it’s been attracting the ‘it crowd’ for almost a century now, many turning up just for its ‘Hot Brown’ sandwich. Created as a late-night treat for dinner dance guests in the 1920s, it’s been raved about everywhere from the New York Times to TV’s Man v Food. In fact, it’s so good, it’s available in all its eateries, featuring alongside The English Grill’s fine dining-meets-Kentucky dishes; J Graham’s Café’s casual fare; and the Lobby Bar’s treats like lobster ‘mac and cheese’. Before leaving (or better still the second you arrive), try its bourbon cocktails too; you are in Kentucky after all.

After checking in, which was a breeze, we went o our room on the Club floor for complimentary drinks and snacks. After a long day of sightseeing it was a welcome welcome. The clean bathtub was inviting and so I ran myself a bath after a long day of walking. The next morning I tripped into the club lounge and dig into delicious pastries and coffee for breakfast. The hotel is beautiful and its luxurious hominess made our trip to Louisville a very enjoyable one. Without Brown our trip would have been suboptimal Read less

The architecture is beautiful. This is not hip & trendy. Rather, it is timeless & classic. The lobby, public areas & restaurants exude yesteryear elegance. Our Ali Suite was quite an extravagant treat for our anniversary with over 1,000 square feet it seems more like an urban corner apartment in a much bigger city. You cannot go wrong dining… Read more

You cannot go wrong dining at The Brown. Yes the Hot Brown is amazing but many other items demand a tasty try as well. Service is excellent and management will not accept any thing less than an exemplary experience which is what we had. Read less

Couldn't leave Louisville without sampling the famous Derby-Pie. The Brown Hotel serves the real deal. Chocolate nutty pie doesn't even come close to describing the unique flavor and texture of this delicious dessert. The wait staff were excellent, providing a detailed history of both the Derby-Pie and the Hot Brown, which we didn't order this… Read more

I learned of this hotel through watching a fav movie where some scenes were shot here. Driving thru so decided to stop for a night. So glad I did. Place is a classic. Staff super engaging and helpful. I want to try everything on the lobby bar menu. New goal I guess. So I’ll be back for sure.
