The set location of many a film and TV show, actors such as Bette Davis and Chevy Chase have filmed here, so it may well feel more than familiar to you! When you’re not sightseeing, spend some time at leisure in the gardens, home to an ancient oak alley and year-round blooms. The dramatic and inviting Fountain Courtyard is another popular gathering place for guests. Dining at Houmas House is not just a treat, it’s an experience. Latil’s Landing Restaurant in the French House is over 230 years old with original beamed ceilings, cypress mantels, wood burning fireplaces and original wood floors. Beautiful house and grounds with fascinating history. Our tour guide, Dennis, was very entertaining. He has a rhythm in his speech, a way of elongating certain words for emphasis, which made the experience very enjoyable.

We had a great burger in the cafe then took the tour with Darren as our guide. He was excellent. Very interesting house with many unusual things to see. The gardens were also beautiful!
The museum was really good too.

The grounds , buildings, and restaurant was beautiful and great food. I was so excited to go as I traveled from the west coast. I was looking forward to the guided tour as I love American history. I was meet by the male guide who as soon as I started to ask a question about the Houmas house he very abruptly said “ If you ask me questions during the tour you are not going to get answers until the end if we have time. I have another tour at 6 pm”. His rude comments shut me down and I really didn’t hear anything he had to say. If I wouldn’t have paid in advance I would have left . So I continued with the tour. The fact that I was the only one on the tour made it even more intimidating. Not enjoyable

Awesome plantation

Our tour of Houmas Plantation was exceptional. The grounds are breathtaking and are beautifully maintained. Our tour guide was one of the best we have ever experienced. He spoke clearly and was not hurried in his approach. He was able to answer all questions asked. We highly recommend this plantation.
