Went to NOLA to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. Splurged and got right on Bourbon Street. Upgraded to a Bourbon Street balcony room. Got to our room and it was not facing Bourbon Street but facing the bottom of a stairwell where cleaning supplies for the pool are stored. I went to the front desk and the clerk was very kind and apologetic but unable to change the room as they were sold out. Okay, fine it's not going to ruin our trip. However, I got my bill and was charged the premium rate. I have called several times to have the charges changed but have been unable to get a return phone call from the "accounting department".
The room was average, nothing special. $600 a night gets you the prime location of a hotel located on Bourbon Street.
The hotel staff is nice, my beef is with accounting which is something out of their control.
The 2 hotel bars are great for a night cap.

Great Location

Great location right in the heart of Bourbon Street. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. I had a Courtyard view room, so away from Bourbon, with all its noise. The room was clean and comfortable. WiFi access was great. For a hotel on that level, they should have had better towels, and that’s my only complaint. The valet parking entrance is…

The room was clean and comfortable. WiFi access was great. For a hotel on that level, they should have had better towels, and that’s my only complaint. The valet parking entrance is on Conti Street. You can drive down Bourbon and take a right and that should take you right to it. Their restaurant, Desire, has a great happy hour menu.

Everyone at Royal Sonesta was extremely helpful and nice. Everything went so smoothly, parking and front desk made sure we had a wonderful stay. I’m very impressed. The parking staff was amazing, especially Christian and Joe. We will definitely be booking with them again.

From the moment we checked in it was poor experience. We booked a 2 floor room for our 5yr anniversary and my husband had tried to surprise me with having it decorated by a private concierge. Well, they had her decorate wrong room that was smaller and less quality than what we originally booked. They offered to move us after second night bc there was no availability for our correct room when we checked in. For me, it’s just a hassle to unpack and pack again mid trip. And all the decor and floral petals and candles that were placed so nicely could NOT be transferred over to the next room so that was a bummer. We only received $100 credit for this debacle even though the room we were checked into was considered an “upgrade”. Our friends room also had mold in the ceilings which they complained about but they were not offered anything either. I expected more from the descriptions on Royal Sonesta’s website but cleanliness is not their top priority. Wouldn’t stay or recommend this property to anyone.
