The hotel

Enjoy Louisiana hospitality at its finest at the Astor Crown Plaza, a Four Diamond luxury hotel located right in the beating heart of New Orleans. Guest rooms are spacious and well equipped, ensuring a comfortable base from which to explore the myriad delights this city has to offer. When you’re relaxing on the premises, however, there’s a state-of-the-art gym to tempt you as well as an outdoor swimming pool, perfect for cooling off in if you’re visiting in warm weather. The real jewel in the crown at the Astor though is Dickie Brennan’s Bourbon House and Beyond. You’ve plenty of wonderful restaurants in the nearby vicinity but Dickie’s is not to be missed. Enjoy a rich array of tantalising Creole specialities, including freshly caught seafood, BBQ shrimp, thick steaks and decadent deserts. And rest assured, if it’s not in season, it’s not on the menu! Oysters are a house speciality, order a dozen at the bar whilst listening to the City’s best shuckers. It’s also a grand spot for a bit of ‘people watching’ with picture windows overlooking the action of Bourbon Street – fun you won’t be able to resist joining in with once dinner’s finished!

Perfect location, we could see Bourbon Street from our window. Clean room, nothing fancy but comfortable, Shower was not hot and very low water pressure. Located near many places to eat and visit and within walking distance on most everything. We called ahead to see what kind of coffee maker they had and the person on the phone could not answer… Read more

Located near many places to eat and visit and within walking distance on most everything. We called ahead to see what kind of coffee maker they had and the person on the phone could not answer that so take Kcups if you like lots of coffee or there is a Walgreens across the street that sells them. You could not find a more centrally located venue in New Orleans. Canal and Bourbon Street. The St. Charles line and the Canal Street lines for the rail-cars is outside the main entrance. You could not find a more centrally located venue in New Orleans. Canal and Bourbon Street. The St. Charles line and the Canal Street lines for the rail-cars is outside the main entrance. Buy a Jazzy Pass from the Walgreens next door for travel through the city. And, if Bourbon street has robbed you of your senses you can always stumble on home. Longest wait for an Uber was 3 minutes. Why 3 stars? The rooms are clean and the facility is pretty, but due to old facility and heavy use there are just little things that make the hotel a little below a 4 star. Good value just little things hurt the better rating. So if you plan to be in your hotel for very little time and want to be exploring in the streets, five stars to you. Read less

Stayed here 2 nights right at the edge of the French Quarter (corner of Canal and Bourbon streets). It’s easy to access via car unlike anything on Bourbon itself. Check in was very friendly and efficient. The room was quiet and a good size. The building is an older one but the amenities of the room were great. There’s a great resta and bar… Read more

Check in was very friendly and efficient. The room was quiet and a good size. The building is an older one but the amenities of the room were great. There’s a great resta and bar in the lobby. The biggest advantage is that it’s not overrun from the Bourbon street crowds or noise but it’s within walking distance of all the major French Quarter attractions (Jackson Square is a pleasant 15 min walk away as is Louis Armstrong Park and the St Louis Cemetery #1) and the Aquarium and river walk. Definitely will stay here the next time in NOLA. Read less

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Our first room was next to the ice machine and elevators and was a bit noisy. We went back down to the desk before unpacking and they promptly got us a new room. The location of the hotel right on Bourbon Street was perfect for our visit. Rooms were clean and service was good. We had no problems with hot water like in some other reviews. And being on an upper floor, there were no troubles with street noise. I recommend this hotel but be sure to ask for a room on an upper floor, away from the elevators and vending machines, and you'll have a nice stay. Read less

Within reasonable walking distance to the attractions of Bourbon Street and and many of NOLA's remarkable dining opportunities, not to mention, the fine "in house" Brennan's eatery and cocktail lounge. The rooms are nicely appointed and several have interesting view of NOLA's street life and activity. I suggest that you give "the Crowne" a try. Read less
