Hotel Monteleone

New Orleans, Louisiana

The hotel

This is not just one of New Orleans finest hotels, this is a film set – movies such as Double Jeopardy with Tommy Lee Jones and The Last Time with Michael Keaton have been filmed here. Once you’ve got over that fact, it’s time to absorb another, it has been said, time and time again, that the French Quarter begins in the lobby of the Monteleone and it truly does, capturing the very essence of what makes New Orleans so very special. A member of the Historic Hotels of America, you will adore your stay here, revelling in a grandeur only the Deep South can provide. Admire stunning views from the sundeck surrounding the rooftop swimming pool, a truly blissful place to chill out, cocktail in hand and a good book beside you. The fitness centre also boasts beautiful views, encouraging you to work that little bit harder perhaps, knowing your reward is to venture out later. At night, your starting point should be the Carousel Bar & Lounge, voted No.1 in a city that’s full of great bars, it’s been immortalised in the writings of Ernest Hemmingway amongst others. Featuring a revolving bar, crowd closer when local characters begin telling stories about this famous hotel as well as the city surrounding it.

It is very beautiful, it has the iconic Carousel Bar and it is a decorated beautifully at Christmas. It really is a lovely place. The rooms are small; this isn't bad it is just information. The bathrooms are well equipped and the shower is wonderful, the curtain rod is curved so there is plenty of room. They have nice soap and other amenities. The location is supreme! It is in the French Quarter very near everything. You are two blocks off of Bourbon Street so you can visit but you aren't in the middle of crowds. Because the hotel is old it is not sound protected. You can hear all the noise from the street. Read less

Our stay was wonderful! We needed a vacation of fun and relaxation. All the staff were very helpful and kind. The location was perfect. Music, shopping, and restaurants were all in walking distance. Our suite was beautiful, inviting, and spacious. The bed was very comfortable. The room lighting could be low or bright depending on our moods. In the day we opened the curtains to lots of sun. The view was ok. We could see the river at an angle. The sitting room was perfect for chilling out. The bathrooms were clean and spacious. The only change I would make is brighter lighting in the full bathroom. The restaurant and room service both had great food and service. The concierge was helpful with guiding, maps, and reservations. She was very patient. We will be returning in the near future. Read less
