Hotel Monteleone

New Orleans, Louisiana

The hotel

This is not just one of New Orleans finest hotels, this is a film set – movies such as Double Jeopardy with Tommy Lee Jones and The Last Time with Michael Keaton have been filmed here. Once you’ve got over that fact, it’s time to absorb another, it has been said, time and time again, that the French Quarter begins in the lobby of the Monteleone and it truly does, capturing the very essence of what makes New Orleans so very special. A member of the Historic Hotels of America, you will adore your stay here, revelling in a grandeur only the Deep South can provide. Admire stunning views from the sundeck surrounding the rooftop swimming pool, a truly blissful place to chill out, cocktail in hand and a good book beside you. The fitness centre also boasts beautiful views, encouraging you to work that little bit harder perhaps, knowing your reward is to venture out later. At night, your starting point should be the Carousel Bar & Lounge, voted No.1 in a city that’s full of great bars, it’s been immortalised in the writings of Ernest Hemmingway amongst others. Featuring a revolving bar, crowd closer when local characters begin telling stories about this famous hotel as well as the city surrounding it.

I cancelled my reservations here due to all the covid restrictions well over a month prior to stay but they still charged my card. When I called them, they refused to do anything about it. Basically fraud.

Upon first entering the beautiful lobby of the Hotel Monteleone you immediately notice the old world touches of class and charm. The rooms are large and extremely clean. The staff strive to be helpful. In the covid era everyone is wearing a mask and practicing good social distance.

This is one of the most elegant hotels I have ever visited and would recommend to anyone soon as you walk through the front doors you see the beauty of the hotel. So I do plan on visiting here more often.

The single king rooms are tiny, opt for the 2bed queen for a room literally twice the size. The staff is knowledgeable and welcoming. You can walk everywhere from here, theres even a Walgreens next to the hotel for any last minute needs. Bourbon street is dead, they're not allowing alcohol purchases without food so you can only drink in restaurants. BJs across the street is delicious and not as expensive as it looks, order to go. The rooftop pool is small but manageable There's alot of fans with misters so it feels great on the rooftop even in the humidity. There's lots of negative activity that carry on in the French quarter, I mean drunkies and addicts coming from canal street. Id say only go to canal if you want starbucks or to take the tram. Safe travels! Read less

This was our first time at this hotel. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Bed was comfortable, room was a good size, and location was perfect for the French Quarter. Will stay here again when we come back.
