Hotel Monteleone

New Orleans, Louisiana

The hotel

This is not just one of New Orleans finest hotels, this is a film set – movies such as Double Jeopardy with Tommy Lee Jones and The Last Time with Michael Keaton have been filmed here. Once you’ve got over that fact, it’s time to absorb another, it has been said, time and time again, that the French Quarter begins in the lobby of the Monteleone and it truly does, capturing the very essence of what makes New Orleans so very special. A member of the Historic Hotels of America, you will adore your stay here, revelling in a grandeur only the Deep South can provide. Admire stunning views from the sundeck surrounding the rooftop swimming pool, a truly blissful place to chill out, cocktail in hand and a good book beside you. The fitness centre also boasts beautiful views, encouraging you to work that little bit harder perhaps, knowing your reward is to venture out later. At night, your starting point should be the Carousel Bar & Lounge, voted No.1 in a city that’s full of great bars, it’s been immortalised in the writings of Ernest Hemmingway amongst others. Featuring a revolving bar, crowd closer when local characters begin telling stories about this famous hotel as well as the city surrounding it.

I have been wanting to stay at this hotel for years and I was NOT disappointed with my stay! The energy of the lobby was incredible and the design was absolutely gorgeous! Our room was perfect, the food (and room service) were great, and the quarter was just outside our front door! Hotel Monteleone made our weekend getaway truly one to remember! We also had the best experience with the hotel staff! The front desk was always incredibly helpful and friendly, Diana in the hotel's keep sake shop near the elevators was just the SWEETEST! My sisters and I chatted with her all weekend about the quarter and sharing ghost stories! She made us feel like family! Adam, one of the hotels doormen, was also a huge help to us with offering site seeing ideas and places for good cajun food. He always remembered us and that added an extra level of service we will not forget! We TRULY enjoyed our stay and will be guest of the Monteleone for years to come! Read less

Also, we added on the historical package which got us each a cocktail, tickets to ride the steamboat, and entry into the WWII museum. A great little package add on! Read less

We had a room on the 12th floor sadly with no view, but it didn't matter as with the whole of the French quarter to explore who wants to stay in their room. The room was very comfortable with a great bed and nice sized bathroom, once again the shower over the bath. This hotel has a fantastic bar scene with the highlight being the rotating "Carousel" bar, but you will find it hard to get a seat any time of day! There is also a massive amount of other seating and they have some great live bands playing every night and its a fantastic vibe with reasonably priced drinks for a top quality hotel. We only ate breakfast once and that was silver service (not buffet) and was very good. The hotel is well positioned for the French Quarter and only a short walk to the main Canal Street. If i should re-visit New Orleans i would choose the Monteleone in a heartbeat! Read less
