Hotel Monteleone

New Orleans, Louisiana

The hotel

This is not just one of New Orleans finest hotels, this is a film set – movies such as Double Jeopardy with Tommy Lee Jones and The Last Time with Michael Keaton have been filmed here. Once you’ve got over that fact, it’s time to absorb another, it has been said, time and time again, that the French Quarter begins in the lobby of the Monteleone and it truly does, capturing the very essence of what makes New Orleans so very special. A member of the Historic Hotels of America, you will adore your stay here, revelling in a grandeur only the Deep South can provide. Admire stunning views from the sundeck surrounding the rooftop swimming pool, a truly blissful place to chill out, cocktail in hand and a good book beside you. The fitness centre also boasts beautiful views, encouraging you to work that little bit harder perhaps, knowing your reward is to venture out later. At night, your starting point should be the Carousel Bar & Lounge, voted No.1 in a city that’s full of great bars, it’s been immortalised in the writings of Ernest Hemmingway amongst others. Featuring a revolving bar, crowd closer when local characters begin telling stories about this famous hotel as well as the city surrounding it.

Just the best place to stay. Great location to walk to shopping, dining and plain old wandering. Great for families. The kids love the pool and Mom the poolside bar. Live music at the Carousel. Just elegant!

For the amenities offered and hospitality we received, this hotel is a gem! My husband and I felt like high-rollers with the doormen outside to help bring in our luggage and open the doors. We also ended up taking home the soap and shampoo, which we have never done, because they were THAT nice. We had a beautiful view of the ever-active Mississippi from our room on the 10th floor, which offered a surprising amount of entertainment and sight-seeing :) It was also exceptionally quiet in our room. We did not hear a thing from above, below, or on either side. This is what you get from an historical hotel built when they didn't cut corners! We had no problem walking to everything in the French Quarter, and it was only a short Lyft or Trolley ride to the other districts. Requesting a late check-out was a surprising drama. If you even suspect you might want to extend your stay for a few hours, make sure to work it out ahead of time! Lastly, I recommend purchasing the Literary Landmarks history of Hotel Monteleone book when you book a room. It is very nicely compiled and made for some fun, light reading while we were in the room. From the staffed front door to the desk, housekeeping, and everyone in between, this has been my best hotel stay ever. Every time we entered or exited the building were greeted by Dwight, who was one of the highlights of our trip. Being the first face people see when they arrive, he sets the tone with grace and hospitality. Door men are often overlooked but he had a wealth of intonation and will make you feel right at home. The beds end pillows were more comfortable than I expected and I slept like a baby. I can't express enough what a perfect stay we had. I highly recommend a stay here, right in the heart of the French Quarter with unlimited dining and entertainment all within walking distance. Read less

We were here for an Anniversary and Birthday and we were not disappointed. The hotel is beautiful, very clean rooms, with friendly staff, excellent restaurant and the Bar is fun, The pool was a welcome break from the heat. Would recommend the hotel for a great place to stay in New Orleans as you are very close to all that the City has to offer.

From the staff to the cleanliness of the hotel! This place was amazing, I will definitely be back! My fiancé and I decided to book at the last minute, and had never been to NOLA. From the moment we pulled up, the staff where welcoming. It felt like they wanted to help you, not just another job (if this makes sense). Thank you to everyone! Will be… Read more
