Hotel Indigo Memphis

Memphis, Tennessee

The hotel

‘Walking in Memphis’ is a breeze at this music-inspired urban escape – just a stroll from the blues bars and buzz of Beale Street in one direction, and popular Memphis Cook Convention Centre (under renovation until autumn 2020) in the other. There’s a real Memphis vibe here, with music-themed artwork, memorabilia from blues, rock and soul stars, and even a jukebox. The dining’s equally ‘local’, with chef Ryan Trimm creating a menu that brings together American diner influences, Southern comfort food, and locally sourced ingredients. For a fabulous finishing flourish, Hotel Indigo Memphis throws in extras like complimentary WiFi and a courtyard-meets-rooftop pool that’s open to the city skies.

The hotel is also close to downtown and it’s great restaurant options. The hotel is also close to Beale street making for a short walk to Beale. I appreciated how the hotel was close to about everything I visit Memphis for. The hotel is kinda unique in that the rooms are on 3 floors located on top of a 7 story parking garage. The lobby and a nice restaurant and bar are located at street level and the elevators required a room key for security. The rooms were nice and very comfortable and the pool area is unique and seemed fun. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I will return and do recommend. Read less

Usually only one staff member at the desk at any time, but they work hard to make your stay pleasurable. They checked me in promptly; called for taxi's; stored luggage; gave local advice. All expected stuff, but these guys always had a smile and a great attitude. The room itself is ordinary. Noisy air conditioner that pumps out ice-cold air; only a rug under the beds; makes for a cold room - not very cosy. Bed frames kinda stick out a bit, giving me a nasty graze on the leg as I moved too closely to it. Coffee machine is good - Keurig capsule model. But where were the condiments?! No milk, creamer, sugar, stirrers. Pool looks inviting, especially on a hot Memphis day/night. Location excellent, as it's only 2 blocks from the Peabody. Read less

We stayed for 4 nights at this new Hotel Indigo. We were very happy with how close it was to everything. About a block and half to the trolley station on main where you could get to all the sights while riding a classic streetcar. The decor is fun with classic radios, a jukebox in the lobby and music themed room decor. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The pool area was very nice with some games (cornhole/bags). They have a shared balcony area on each floor and I enjoyed catching the sunset and bridge light show from there in the evenings. The adjacent restaurant 3rd & Court just opened about a month ago and was really good and reasonably priced. The only real concerns is that it’s hard to load and unload your luggage as the parking ramp is very sloped so the carts kept rolling away. Also, our room only had one small garbage can (in the bathroom) and it would’ve been better to have another in the main bedroom. I also love that Hotel Indigo has Aveda product for the toiletries! The parking does cost $20 per day, but it’s in the same building with shared elevators so it’s very convenient. Staff were very friendly and accommodating to all our requests. Read less

Update: They said they contacted Priceline to give a refund. It had not been processed after 10 business, so I contacted Priceline, only to learn they never requested the refund. After following up, they only refunded 2 of the 3 nights. They also processed our $75 hold for incidentals. When I contacted them about this, they denied it and blamed my credit card, saying I would have to contact them for a refund. I asked for documentation that they released the charge, but ignored the request. I have emails from Front Office Manager Christopher Jordan documenting of all of this. After many hours on the phone with IHG, they finally agreed to refund the 3rd night - nearly a month after the incident. Original: The beds are HORRIBLE. They gave me back and neck pains which prohibited me from sleeping. At 2:30am, I went to the lobby to see if there were any options for a better sleeping situation. The woman at the desk said there was nothing she could do. With increased volume and aggression, she refused every idea I offered, and suggested I check out and find a different hotel. She finally relented and gave me 1 set of blankets for a “bed’ to sleep on the floor. Needless to say, I did not sleep that night. The next morning, I went to the daytime manager to request a refund. He declined, saying the woman reported I acted aggressively towards her and cursing at her. Since I declined to check out at 2:30am, he refused to issue a refund or let me out of the last 2 nights.
