The hotel

A mix of style and fun, Renaissance Palm Springs is a welcoming desert hideaway. Reserve yourself a cabana by one of the biggest pools in the area, relax among the palm trees and gaze at the mountains, or maybe book yourself a massage at the spa. Rocks Lounge is the place to be for getting social, with coffee, cocktails and great food — the evening fire pits adding nicely to the laidback Californian vibe. Fancy exploring the restaurants downtown? It’s not far at all, but if it’s too hot to walk in the heat, the hotel will drive you down.

I stayed at the Renaissance Palm Spriings on a work trip I took alone in April 2024. It's really a short drive to PSP. They don't have a shuttle which is a shame given the very short drive. It's almost an airport hotel. It's a low lying very wide hotel. So the breadth of the hotel is the challenge here and not so much a height issue that leads to issues like waiting for an elevator. I was able to check in early and they gave me an upgrade. So right away first impression was great. The room was very spacious and eclectically decorated. The bed was very comfortable and the temperature control was good (which, given the area's climate is key). Besides being a short drive from the airport, the hotel is a good ten to fifteen minute walk from downtown Palm Springs. It takes about ten minutes to get to viable food options. The nearest bona fide grocery store if you want to stock up on creature comforts (large water bottles, Coke [since it's a Marriott property, all they have on site is Pepsi] and snacks) is about a 25 minute walk away. The property itself was very clean. Housekeeping was pretty timely on a daily basis, meaning I didn't have to wait until 3 or 4 pm to have my room turned over. Everything was on a very large scale and the space felt open. I really enjoyed working in the lobby area during the mornings and breaks in the conference I attended. Wifi worked okay. I used the gym every day. It was very nice and looked out onto the pool. Even though I didn't partake, the pool looked very busy. Another thing I didn't partake in is the free happy hour drink that occurs from 4-5 p.m. They're not joking about the hour though, I arrived at 4:57 p.m. one day and they had shut it down, so if you want one, be there on time. The conference I attended was in the hotel and the food was pretty good. I didn't buy any of the food at the hotel (restaurant, room service) so I can't really speak to that. I think the hotel was a good option for me as a home base for the conference I attended and for my first time visiting Palm Springs. I don't know if I'd return only because Palm Springs was meh for me. Read less

Overall, the resort was great. Location and pool were awesome. The staff was excellent and very helpful, especially the bartenders. It is a very family friendly resort, but the resort should enforce the "no kids" in the hot tub as we were never able to enjoy it because it was ALWAYS full of kids. The resort is in need of a maintenance and some… Read more

We’ve stayed at nearly every Marriott property in the Palm Springs/Palm Desert area, and the quality of the property itself was on the lower end. The highlight of the Renaissance is its location. The proximity to DT Palm Springs is wonderful. The other highlights: the bar staff. Each team member we encountered in the bar was 10/10. Erin, the concierge, was a blast. Huge asset to the property. We had a pretty rough check in experience that was eventually rectified by the Front Desk Manager. Seems there are a lot of new team members which is understandable. Our room was not ready until a few minutes before 4, and that was the case for several other folks we sat near in the bar. Despite being a titanium elite member, it didn’t seem like there was any sense of urgency to expedite the room’s readiness. While the “warmth” offered to high loyalty guests is hit or miss these days, the Renaissance was particularly disappointing. If you’re looking for something in the heart of the action, this is a solid option, but don’t expect the luxury feel you might get at the numerous resort options outside of the city. This felt distinctly like a 3 star property. Triada, an Autograph Collection property, is a much better property but usually more points or $$$. Read less
