Every morning our bathroom was covered in dead or dying gnats. We also had several cockroaches. One hopped on the bed our 1st night. I thought it was an isolated event, but no there were more. I also found trash under the bed and behind tables in the living room, so I don’t believe the room was throughly cleaned prior to our arrival. I think the property management knew about the bug issues because the was a pest control inspection done while we were there. Read less

I concede that we rented our condo through a private agent, so our unit was not managed by Castle or Outrigger. We stayed in unit 236. This unit is in need of upgrade, we knew that going in and it was a risk. But the reality is, you never know what you are compromising on. In this case, it was really dirty old carpet and furniture that is long past it's expiry date. Walking barefoot on it, it almost felt 'greasy'. The kitchen was ok, except the one cupboard above the range that wouldn't stay closed!...it seemed to have a magnet to my head. The best things were: 1. The king bed is fantastic- very comfortable and reasonably new I suspect. 2. The bathroom was nice and clean, and likely upgraded in recent years. 3. Quiet upstairs location under a massive tree- very relaxing. The worst 2 things of this unit were: 1. The sofa bed is terrible. It is a queen size. But old foam mattress, with the bar across. This bed is un-sleepable. 2. Our card-key reader to open the door continually failed. We were then left to wait till the agent had someone drive to bring us a new one, only for that to fail in 24-48hr later. Imagine- you've gone to happy hour drinks, watched sunset, come back to your condo to cook dinner. No. Can't get in. This whole situation was a total buzz kill. 3. Aargh...the carpet...I felt ill the moment we walked in. I could smell it. The complex itself is beautifully maintained, so lush and peaceful. The on-site bar and it's happy hour are really nice too. I'd stay again, but definitely not this condo. Read less

The only con is the that the units are a bit small and some need some updating. Kiahuna is great for families. The easy walk to beach and the manicured lawns throughout the complex where kids can play is a big plus. Kiahuna is the only beachfront condo complex in Poipu, other complexes in Poipu have a much longer walk to the beach. The section of beach is also very nice and less crowded than Poipu Beach Park. Everyone gathers on the lawn at the edge of the beach for the nightly sunsets which are spectacular. Read less
