This was a memorial trip 4 years in planning and even with the coronavirus scare we weren’t canceling. We had a promise to keep to visit where we spread my sisters ashes. Due to early flight arrival and time zone differences we requested early check in if it was available so we could nap. Thankfully they could accommodate and placed us in a lovely cottage overlooking the golf course. Dinner at the restaurant was delicious as was the last time we visited. Our cottage was spotless. At night while resting on the patio, frogs came to visit which would scare most but I found it quiet humorous as I’ve never seen them so big. This explained why I saw so few insects in the area. A few days after arrival, the restaurant started practicing social distancing however the staff never failed to disappoint. All remained friendly and professional during these trying times. We chose to check out a day early as all our planned events had been canceled and early check out was made simple. We had an amazing time despite the crisis and will return in the future. Read less

For the last 10 years, the Royal Lahaina has become our home in Maui. Throughout the years, the Hawaii spirit has disappeared from most big box hotels here, but not the RL. FREE live Hawaiian music, torch lighting ceremony and hula dancing every night! The staff makes you feel like Ohana (family) even when just passing from place to place. And the best kept secret is the amazing, wide and long stretch of beach that fronts this property. Unlike the places on the south side of the black rock, beachgoers are not piled on top of each other and you can stroll the beach without feeling like you need to dodge others along the way. If you just want a beach, go to Florida. If you want to go to a beach with real Hawaiian vibes, go to the Royal Lahaina. Read less

We originally booked a patial ocean view and ended up looking at the roof of another building, so we paid to upgrade to the true ocean view and it was stunning. I didn't realize the price to upgrade until we got the final bill. We saw lots of whales due to timeframe and enjoyed the resort. We ate our meals on the patio/bar area and enjoyed it. … Read more

We took an Uber into downtown Lahaina since the complimentary shuttle didn't go that far. I would give it a 5 star if it wasn't sooo expensive. Read less

I would have given a 5 star recommendation, however cottages that we stayed in were a little dated. We absolutely loved this property because of the great beach access and closeness to both Lahaina and Kapalua. This was our very first trip to Maui, and we will definitely stay here again.

We stayed here as part of a tour/travel group and decided to do an upgraded room. We were on the 11th floor (even side) and view was amazing. Ocean was like a whale playground. They could be seen at all hours of the day. King size bed was comfortable and just enough storage space to unpack. The balcony was a highlight of the whole stay. In… Read more

In the midst of all this the COVID-19 came to Maui. The hotel notified us by way of an employee knocking on our door and explaining the letter he had for us. I saw the staff doing a through cleaning in rooms as we passed by. Luau was held 1st night after notification but seems management rethought this and cancelled it after that. Good call on their part. Yes things seemed pricey but not out of line from every other place we visited on 3 islands. Read less
