Loved the hotel. Learned to make a lei. Only issue was that it rained throughout the luau. There should be something that can be done for such situations. There were ukulele lessons offered. The restaurant was excellent. The grounds were well cared for. Unfortunately it rained during the luau.

The potential trouble with a great first visit is the inability to live up to it again. Such was my experience on my recent visit, which was my fourth in four years. The scenery is still lovely and that's a great reason to come. However, if you stay in the tower you are considered a better customer than if you stay in the cottages, which surprised me when I was told that by the reception desk. So if you want more spacious room and patios, choose the cottages. Note: our cottage had a shower with a deep tub. If you are very short or not agile you may have to work harder to take a shower. The tower has walk-in shower. If you are a member of the royal loyalty program you do not want to stay in the cottages as that counts for nothing. Tips for management: empower reception desk to please customers. Enhance breakfast buffet with spoons provided. (Last year spoons were not an issue but this year you have to wait for server to bring them but not for or knife. Strange.) Put a note by cereal of how to get milk for it. All in all, the beach is great. The setting is great. But personnel interaction is what has changed and that is what impacted the review. Read less

We’ve always stayed in the tower but this was a last minute decision so we were placed in a cottage. After reading reviews we were a little concerned what it would be like. We actually liked it better than the tower! No steps/elevators to negotiate and the golf course view was beautiful! We’d request the cottage next time! We had an adjoining room… Read more

We had an adjoining room with our son and you can hear everything so you wouldn’t want one of those rooms unless it was family next door. Read less

What is good about this area is that you have a trolley and beach walk that you can go to other hotels to experience other dining and shopping. We were happy with our choice. Read less

I felt it was difficult to regulate. Good things: our partial ocean view did have a nice view of the ocean. Nice little balcony with 2 chairs and small table. Comfortable bed. Nice water pressure in the shower. The safe was very handy to have in the room and very easy to use. Pool area is great and very conveniently located near the restaurant. Great beach access. On site shop, on site ice cream parlor! Lots of paths for jogging/walking. You can walk quite a ways on the beach or use the path. Someone in shape can easily walk to Whalers Village, or you can get picked up by the free shuttle to go there and come back on. Read less
