Aqua Oasis, A Joy Hotel

Honolulu, Oahu

The hotel

Hawaii’s fun side is ever-present at Aqua Oasis. Of course it has all your easy-going island essentials: a spot near Waikiki Beach, chilled sitting areas, the all-important pool and sun deck, and a deep-soaking tub and private ‘lanai’ balcony in every room. But it also brings effervescent extras, including a karaoke lounge, but also its spot steps away from luxury shopping and the International marketplace, and the unlimited movies and PS3 games on tap. Smartly furnished and crisply designed, it has just enough subtle Polynesian touches to remind you you’re in Hawaii, from floral prints to splashes of turquoise or orange, without losing its modern edge. And there’s also a taste of Hawaii in its complimentary breakfasts, which mix Continental favourites with fresh island fruits.

Any time we had a question they helped us get it answered. Special thanks to Marissa :) For comparison we stayed an airbnb down the block the week prior and this place was way more authentically Hawaiian, the common area and decor were beautiful. Highly recommend! I expect I'll be staying here again in the near future. Read less

The hotel is a non-smoking hotel though they have a beautiful zen garden for us smokers! The staff are all attentive, accomodating, and friendly. You need something special, talk with the GM - Evelyn Shiroma! She makes herself available throughout the day. Front desk staff are always there to help with your local sightseeing needs along with the concierge desk for making the reservations. Special thanks to Olivia and Maria! A special Mahalo to Angelita and Rosie for keeping our room clean and well stocked with fresh towels and toiletries! Mahalo to Mike for all your baggage needs! You'll find that many of the guests are repeat visitors who you'll get to know and look forward to seeing from year to year! When in Waikiki, make it your home away from home, you won't regret it! Hotel is comparable to others in price range. Central location in Waikiki. Wait staff were attentive and went above and beyond to help me resolve issues with business billing. Breakfast was simple but nice. Retrieving car was quick compared to other hotels. Maid service was consistent.

Our Junior Suite was large and had all the amenities. It is an older building and does show some wear, but our room was clean with everything we needed. The beach, shopping & restaurants were just a short walk away. The staff was very friendly with directions, suggestions, etc. They helped us with a shuttle to Pearl Harbor & another to the airport. A great hotel, off the beaten path. Read less

We like that it was a boutique hotel and it served basic continental breakfast (pastries, fruit, cereal, and coffee/juice). We asked for a quiet and higher floor that's facing away from the street. The hotel staff listened to our needs and was willing to switch the room if we weren't happy. We stayed in the original assigned room since we simply stayed in the hotel to sleep and have a simple breakfast. We didn't lounge around so the place was just right for our purpose. We want to note that the activity concierge (not hotel staff) was not friendly. When she knew we weren't interested in buying tour packages, she exuded cold and impersonal attitude. Oh well. We didn't let that dampen our Hawaiian vacation. Overall, in Oahu, we advise guests to explore nature, talk with locals, and walk/drive around the neighborhoods (not just the Waikiki shopping) to really feel the aloha spirit. Read less
