We stopped on Oahu just to visit this resort. As long-time DVC members we were excited to finally stay here. We visited Oahu before and stayed on Waikiki Beach. While Aulani is a beautiful resort with amazing pools and ocean views, its location on the island is not ideal. There are so many things to see and do in Waikiki and Honolulu, but you’ll need a car and about 30 minutes to get to any of those activities. This is an added expense when you are already spending a significant amount on accommodations. We stayed in a one-bedroom suite and it had a pullout couch as well as a twin Murphy bed under the TV in the living room. This was ideal for our two kids as they each had their own sleeping space. The bathroom was setup so the shower and tub were in two separate spaces and each space had a sink/mirror so two people could get ready at one time. The pools were all spectacular. We grabbed some chairs near the infinity pool. This was close to the cafe and bar. Also, all members of your party were required to get a bracelet that showed you were a resort guest in order to enjoy the pool area and receive a pool towel. They would only provide you with one towel, even though they were not large enough to cover a lounge chair. There is a lazy river that was very relaxing and we enjoyed riding the inter tube down the slide and traveling around it. The kids enjoyed a Mickey shave ice. We also took a trip to the lagoon to try snorkeling. We didn’t see anything in the water and the beach was ok. It wasn’t too crowded. We walked the path near the lagoon and passed several resorts. It was a nice path and provided some different views of the ocean and resort. There was grass and places to picnic in these areas. All in all a nice resort that definitely lives up to Disney standards. It’s just not well-placed. When you go to Oahu, make sure you get to Pearl Harbor, Honolulu Zoo, Diamond Head, Downtown Market and enjoy the many restaurants the city has to offer. Read less

This is the second time we've stayed at Aulani (and it won't be the last!). In June, we stayed for for 10 nights in a 1-bedroom with a full kitchen. It was very helpful to have the kitchen since it's hard to get reservations due to covid. The room was clean and beautiful, with breath-taking views of the ocean and lagoon. Check-in was easy and… Read more

It was very helpful to have the kitchen since it's hard to get reservations due to covid. The room was clean and beautiful, with breath-taking views of the ocean and lagoon. Check-in was easy and contactless. The staff were very nice and all work face coverings. After staying on Waikiki Beach a couple nights, Aulani was just the change we needed...relaxing and quiet. If traveling during the pandemic, check ahead for temporary closures (such as the courtesy room for showering after swimming on your last day, usage of the grill area, on-site restaurants). Read less

Pains me to have to write such a review for a local establishment. But it’s been that poor. Pains me to have to write such a review for a local establishment. But it’s been that poor. Shame on Disney for raising prices while providing less roped off with employees who apparently feel like they’re doing favor for guests by just being open. Here’s the list: 1) Pools - If you want a seat best be down by 7:00 to beat the hundreds who come and leave a towel to tear e chairs. Three days in a row without being able to find chairs by pool. Disney absolutely nothing to remove towels that are just sitting there forcing guests to fight each other should someone come back 2 hours later for a seat that had towel. Also, forget cabanas…Disney won’t let you reserve in advance which is an absolute moronic policy. So again, wake up bright and early on your vacation to get in a long line and still be told “sold out”. So we’re currently on day three of telling our 5 year old sleeping in until 8:00 am means no pool seating. BTW, other hotels get busy in Ko’Olina as well but they actually implement policies to enhance the experience while Disney relies on its name because parents have to come for the kids. 2) Main restaurant has same 4 entrees, 2 appetizer and three desserts every night. At sky high prices. 3) Overall Guest Service - Way too many employees unwilling to help. When we called to ask to speak to manager we were told the pool chair issue has always been that way. It is what it is! Multiple other unhelpful and sometimes rude employees. Needless to say, for nearly $1000 a night for 1 bedroom villa, way way overpriced for what you get and we won’t be back. Many better options on the island and you can bring your kids to Disney for the pictures. Read less

Fully a FAMILY with smaller children’s resort now. Only have 1 adults only hot tub now, no pool any more. Advertised as a serene, quiet bar & pool “Wailana” could not be farther from the truth! Kids yelling jumping running in the “quiet” area.

We stayed in Aulani 2019 and we had the best experience. So much so that the kids wanted to come back this year again. I have to say the service hasn’t been the same. I feel that the service is substandard and has declined. I have been mistreated by the front desk several times and also by the concierge team that helps with tours. The girl who helped me was sarcastic and condescending. I then spoke to a manager called “Mike” who refused to give me his last name. Restaurant staff is always attentive. The room itself is okay. It was dusty when we came in but regardless I do a quick clean up since we are dealing with Covid. There is a huge stain behind the makeup mirror in the bathroom that you can see hasn’t been cleaned in months. Food is okay. Not many healthy options. Positives: Pools are nice, lagoon is a dream, service staff is very polite and helpful. Negatives: front desk staff very disrespectful. Tour team is rude, sarcastic and not helpful. Lack of healthy food alternatives. Room dusty. They are not handing out leis upon arrival like other hotels. Room didn’t event have the Mickey towel decor that always had before. Stains on walls throughout the room. Read less
