Waikiki Resort Hotel

Honolulu, Oahu

The hotel

One of Waikiki’s favourite hotels, located just a stone’s throw from the beach and within easy walking distance of the resorts myriad shops, bars and restaurants. This is a very comfortable retreat with spacious rooms to relax in and a good range of mod cons. On the second floor is an L-shaped swimming pool with furnished sundeck — perfect for catching those rays in-between sightseeing. There’s also a mini spa for pampering and a 24-hour fitness centre just across the road should you feel the need to pound that treadmill! Seoul Jung is the hotel’s signature restaurant, serving delicious Korean dishes created by master chefs. Ilima is the place to go if you feel in need of an American classic such as Caesar Salad or New York Steak Sandwich. The latter also serves a variety of Japanese dishes so, in the food department, you’re spoilt for choice! With its warm, friendly atmosphere and proximity to all local attractions, this is a great choice for families and couples to enjoy an Hawaiian holiday in the sun.

We recent stayed in the penthouse suite at the Waikiki Resort Hotel and it was very, very ordinary. We were hoping for something special, especially given what we paid. Instead, we got an old, dark apartment with dirty dishes, a mouldy sponge and hardly any kitchen utensils. The pool needed serious updating and looks across at a less than appealing apartment block. We also requested a high chair for our 9 month old son but were told it was a 'safety hazard' so they were unable to help us which was a complete inconvenience. The hotel was in a good location and the staff were lovely (other than the waitress at breakfast. She was very unpleasant). The hotel was close to the beach, and very noisy at night as it overlooks the pool areas of other hotels, so you get the music and street noise all night. If you're looking for somewhere to stay to make your Hawaii trip memorable for good reasons, I wouldn't stay here. We were quite disappointed unfortunately. Read less

Breakfast supplied was fantastic value and the whole family was happy with the great range. Read less

Best transport ever from a fine man, Rodney Haynes , who was respectful and protective of old people, carrying luggage and getting them safely out of the vehicle. Phone: 808 . 312 . 0968 Blue Hawaii Airport Transportation He will collect you from cruise terminals, carry and store your luggage in the van, collect you for the airport and be there before the assigned time to ensure you are not stressed. Our return to Sydney and taxi drivers — not quite so enjoyable! The driver was surly and did not want to take the shortest direct route. He also clearly resented helping old people with their luggage. Quite the contrast! Read less
