Golden Nugget Las Vegas

Las Vegas, USA

The hotel

Boasting some of Las Vegas’ finest rooms and suites after a $380 million dollar transformation, it’s easy to understand why the Golden Nugget has earned the AAA Four Diamond Award for 32 years! Accommodation is divided between four majestic towers with wonderful views of the Las Vegas Strip, the Spring Mountains and the hotel’s incredible pool. Then there's the Tank, as the swimming complex is known, comes complete with a shark tank, 3-storey waterslide and 13 private cabanas for hire. There’s also an infinity pool, aptly named The Hideout, which is strictly for adults only. Other temptations include a superb spa with steam rooms, sauna, massage and beauty treatments plus a state-of-the-art fitness centre to work off those American-sized portions! Several restaurants are at your disposal, including Vic and Anthony’s, one of the country’s finest steakhouses. Alternatively, head to Chart House for sumptuous seafood, Lillie’s for Pan-Asian cuisine or Grotto for Italian fare. Come sundown, Troy Liquor Bar is the place to be with a lively atmosphere, DJs and exotic cocktails. There's also live entertainment courtesy of the impressionist, Gordie Brown. An incredible hotel with an incredible range of amenities, look out in particular for the Hand of Faith in the lobby - a 61-pound gold nugget found in Australia in 1980 with a metal detector just six inches below ground – now that’s Lady Luck at her finest!

Booked 6 days at the nugget, that room choice is by the hotel. When we got there we asked if we could request a room with a king bed. The lady helping us was very nice and put us in a king room ( even showing us a picture of the room). We were early but she checked us in and we put our bags with bag check until we could get our room. Went back 2 hours later to get keys and the second lady was also very nice and ALSO showed us a picture of our king room. Got up to the room and it had two double beds! I called down and talked to the reservation manager who proceeded to be very rude and unprofessional in explaining that the room we were in was the room assigned to us because of the package we bought. I agreed with him but pointed out that when asked, TWO DIFFERENT employees of his agreed to put us in a king room. He got very belligerent with me and said there was nothing he could do. Needless to say, other than the room, they got none of our business, either in the casino or the restaurants, and we spent a lot! Just not in the golden nugget. Read less

I had a Groupon for a weekend stay at the Golden Nugget. After some issues with my reservation (Groupon's fault, not Golden Nugget), I didn't have high expectations. I figured the hotel would be like other hotels on Fremont Street. Boy was I surprised! They put a lot of effort into their renovations. The lobby was beautiful, although check-in was a little slow. The accommodations were clean, the bed and pillows comfy. Even the wifi was fast! We did have an issue with the AC, but maintenance arrived promptly and fixed the issue. We were greeted with a container of gourmet cookies and 2 bottles of Fiji water by the Executive Director of Resort Operations which was a nice touch. We stayed in the Carson Tower, but I hear that the Rush Tower is where to be if you want to hear the action on Fremont. The Carson Tower is quiet. All in all we had a great stay and the Golden Nugget will be my "go to" hotel on Fremont Street from now on. We didn't go to the pool, so I can't comment on that. Read less

After calling front desk they said they were booked up and that it was Travelocity's fault, when I spoke with Travelocity, they said that it was confirmed that we should be in a double. Both the hotel and Travelocity were blaming each other, not the way you want to start a vacation. Ended up moving to a hotel on the strip and we didn't look back, both my wife and I, remarked that we were happy to have switched out of the Golden Nugget. Read less

This was my ninth stay at the Golden Nugget in 11 years. 9 of these was with my aunt who sadly passed away last year. She loved the Nugget visiting there many times over the past 30 years. Thank-you Julie Hall for taking care of things for she and I over the years and again for my husband and I on this visit . Check-in was smooth and our room in the Gold Tower was lovely. Housekeeping was prompt and thorough each day. We enjoyed meals at the Grotto (fabulous spinach, pear and gorgonzola salad salad; the carbonara and vongole were delicious), Lillie's (you must try there Mongolian beef) and the Cadillac ( very tasty fajitas)._ My favourite place to sit , chat with people from all over the country (and world) and have a drink is the Grotto bar. The quality of the drinks and service are exceptional. Of course , special mention for bartenders Jose and Jeff -so personable and entertaining . I would be remiss , however, if I did not mention Leo--this young bartender, for the four days we were there ,was alone at the bar on several occasions during extremely active times (2-4). As busy as he was, he managed to provide excellent, friendly efficient and professional service. I hope he gets the recognition he deserves. All in all, the Nugget remains my favourite place to stay in Vegas. I will be back !!! Read less
