The hotel

Boasting some of Las Vegas’ finest rooms and suites after a $380 million dollar transformation, it’s easy to understand why the Golden Nugget has earned the AAA Four Diamond Award for 32 years! Accommodation is divided between four majestic towers with wonderful views of the Las Vegas Strip, the Spring Mountains and the hotel’s incredible pool. Then there's the Tank, as the swimming complex is known, comes complete with a shark tank, 3-storey waterslide and 13 private cabanas for hire. There’s also an infinity pool, aptly named The Hideout, which is strictly for adults only. Other temptations include a superb spa with steam rooms, sauna, massage and beauty treatments plus a state-of-the-art fitness centre to work off those American-sized portions! Several restaurants are at your disposal, including Vic and Anthony’s, one of the country’s finest steakhouses. Alternatively, head to Chart House for sumptuous seafood, Lillie’s for Pan-Asian cuisine or Grotto for Italian fare. Come sundown, Troy Liquor Bar is the place to be with a lively atmosphere, DJs and exotic cocktails. There's also live entertainment courtesy of the impressionist, Gordie Brown. An incredible hotel with an incredible range of amenities, look out in particular for the Hand of Faith in the lobby - a 61-pound gold nugget found in Australia in 1980 with a metal detector just six inches below ground – now that’s Lady Luck at her finest!

Disappointed overall. The convenience fee is not acceptable for what you receive: - WIFI that you can't connect to most the time, - limited fitness centre hours of 6 am to 6 pm (every other hotel I've stayed at is 24 hours or at least open later), - the bottled water in the room was not there when I checked in. I found out two days later that… Read more

I found out two days later that the card envelope explained that they would replenish your water if you texted the hotel, but how do you replenish something that wasn't there to begin with? I already had to purchase my own water for my stay. The hotel reeked of smoke (particularly in the elevators). Not sure if they are having issues with their ventilation system, but me and several friends and family members staying at Carson Tower woke up congested every day. Also had a strange smell in the bathroom the entire stay. Would have liked a book in the room which explained where everything was and what services were available. Read less

IF you are coming to Las Vegas and want to stay on the "other" end of the strip, look no further than the GOLDEN NUGGET! Getting reservations a few days out was a plus. Checking in was very quick. Lucky for us we were put in Carson Tower which was non-smoking and a huge blessing after walking through the casino to get to Fremont Street and elsewhere. The room was spacious, the bathroom clean with enough towels and amenities, and beds were very comfortable. I thought the cable tv channels were okay. I would recommend consider placing power outlets near the beds for personal CPAP machines so folks can continue getting better sleep. The best part was checking out which could be done over the tv with remote. We ate at Lillie's Asian Cuisine and Vic and Anthony's and the only thing we can say is we were blown away at the service and superb food. Kudos to the wonderful folks who do a great job at those two restaurants. The next time we come we'll try some of the other places there at the Golden Nugget like the Chart House. Read less

Arrived to an overbooked hotel, besides having to wait a short time at check in my party was upgraded to a Spa Suite. All of property is spotless and well maintained. Swam with the sharks even though the temp outside was in the 50's I have never stayed in a nicer room in my travels and the front desk staff are wonderful.
