Rio Las Vegas

The Strip, Las Vegas

The hotel

Not all Las Vegas showstoppers are on the Strip – just look at Rio All-Suite Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, where your super-sized suite features floor-to-ceiling windows and jaw-dropping views of Las Vegas Valley. Seemingly inspired by the Strip’s global ‘landmarks’, the Rio’s 12 restaurants take you on a worldwide tour, from the Asian flavours of its dim sum, Vietnamese, and Indian eateries to the hearty American favourites of VooDoo Steakhouse, which takes in the glitz of Vegas from its 50th floor vantage point. The VooDoo theme continues with the Rio’s VooDoo Rooftop Nightclub; VooDoo Zipline, which gives you 360 degree views of the Strip (if you can open your eyes as you hurtle at 33 miles an hour); and VooDoo Beach, featuring four tropical pool zones, three whirlpools, poolside spa treatments, cocktail bars, and a carnival spirit.

Alas, with Palms having been redone just nearby, and with Gold Coast catering to the locals, Rio seemed kind of a nothing place on my visit there, and aside from the larger sized hotel rooms, has little to recommend it. It just felt very tired and in need of a refresh. i.e. neither locals focussed or low-rent, but not glitzy either. Just kind of tired... and in the moddle in a blah kind of way. Every place has its devotees, and I'm sure this place will too. But I wouldn;t rush back to visit Rio, unless some money was put into it. Read less

Stayed here last December as part of a guys trip. Had spent the first few days downtown solo and moved over to the Rio. The hotel is off the strip but very convenient to both the highway and some of the side streets that keep you off the strip and away from traffic. If you are using this as a base and moving around a lot a car will be a necessity. The good news is valet and self parking are free as well as quick and convenient. It has probably been 20 years since I stayed at this hotel but the service was as good as I remember it before it became a Caesars property. I made my reservation through Caesars rewards and that allowed me to utilize the check in kiosk and avoid the reception line. The one draw back is the kiosk cannot honor special requests. I had recently had surgery and had some mobility issues. Of course the kiosk assigned me a corner room at the end of the hallway. It was literally a mile walk to the elevators. Fortunately, I was able to go down to the desk later that evening and they took pity on me and assigned a room much closer to the elevator. The hotel is older but still provides guests with a spacious , clean room with both a sitting area and a desk. Wifi was good and I had no problem working inside the room. The room also has a fridge as well as a large selection of entertainment options on the TV. The casino is large with a variety of table games, slots and video poker machines. There is also a race and sports book and a small poker room with daily tournaments. Not much luck here at the poker tables but did hold my own at video poker. The have decent pay tables on the poker machines but you have to hunt them down. Dined once a the buffet which had a great carving station selection as well as some other action stations. Very good desserts here as well. Had breakfast at Hash House. Enormous portions. I ordered chicken and waffles for breakfast and had enough to take home for two more meals. The keno runners allow you to get your action fix in while you eat. Get here early as the line can get long for breakfast. Overall, I was happy with that the service was as good as I remember it from all these years ago. The hotel definitely can use a face lift but with the new owners coming on board hopefully the hotel will get a refresh. The staff was exceptional and everyone was friendly. This is still a good choice especially if you have a car. Read less

The Rio is nothing but big. Rooms are comfortable and spacious. The casino is large with many gambling options. Dining options are plentiful. The buffet is huge. Take a look at the Kiss display of memorabilia. It's well worth it.

There was a loud music from the bar at the roof top. Then the following night the hotel fire went off & it was loud at approx. 2:00 A.M. We didn't get enough sleep for 2 nights stay. Very disppointing.
