Bellagio

The Strip, Las Vegas

The hotel

Epically romantic, you may recognise the luxurious Bellagio as George Clooney and crew’s scene-stealing co-star from Ocean’s Eleven. But then, thanks to its world-famous dancing fountains (some of which shoot 460ft into the Vegas sky), the Bellagio has a habit of making any night along The Strip an unforgettable event. Look beyond the eight-acre Lago di Como and you’ll find head-turning elegance in a hotel that’s inspired by a picturesque Italian village. Rooms and suites are sumptuous without being flashy, there’s a gallery of fine art with rotating exhibitions, five pools with a refreshing Mediterranean accent, O, Cirque du Soleil’s® water-based extravaganza.

We decided for a long time if this was the time to take a vacation considering covid. We pondered, researched every hotel in Vegas (okay not EVERY but major resorts), and decided to go with the Bellagio. We had only been in Vegas twice. The first time to get married, and the other for business. So here is a pros and cons list for anyone considering the Bellagio and deciding on a Stay Well room promoted by Deepak Chopra. Advertised: mood music, comfy beds for sound sleep, air purification system, an alarm with mood light, vitamin C infused water Stay Well cleaning protocol. We chose this room due to the cleaning protocol. We wanted to vacation as safely as possible and cleanliness was the most important factor for us. Plus we had never been to the Bellagio and thought this would be a great escape. Did Bellagio live up to its reputation? Meh. Pros: * Room did have mood lights, sound machine, and vitamin C infused water. * Bathroom was well stocked. * Checkin was swift * Checkout was quick - we had several hours left before we needed to go the airport, and the held out luggage and the baggage storage. * Catching a cab was simple. * Gorgeous hotel! What a beautiful job the staff did on creating conservatory for Christmas--we even saw a few celebrities with their kids (Nina Garcia) was one of them. We recognized her, even if no one else did. We didn't say anything though, we wanted to respect her family. * Gorgeous pool area. * Iron in room--HUGE plus! Cons: * Remember the key reason we wanted to stay was the cleanliness? Well the room was full of dust. I recorded the phone, counters, night stands and counter top were FULL of dust! They had not been cleaned. * Towels had harden yellow stains on them! Unacceptable. * Shower drain kept clogging. On the first night, I let the water run to get warm, if I had looked down the water would have completely ran over the end. It was filling up with water. I turned off the shower and it eventually went down. * There are so many "extra" charges--I feel lied to. $450.00 deposit, plus additional $180.00 for "resort fees". Perhaps I wouldn't had minded paying these prices if the room and casino were not subpar. * Casino was so smokey that we had to leave. We went to neighboring casinos (the Aria) and they did not have as much smoke---it seemed better ventilated for some reason. * No one came around to ask for a drink--not ANY of the three days nights we were there gambling. They only came to the Blackjack tables (from my experience). Compensation: I want to make certain that I give credit to the front desk. There was a Bellagio front desk staff member with short blonde hair who wore a floral barrette in her hair who did an amazing job to rectify the situation (I wished I remembered her name as she was very kind). I showed her the video where I show the various dirty items in the room, and she appeared shocked deeply apologetic. She asked me how she could make it up to me and offered to move us to another room. I declined, we were fine where we were if they could just clean it. I understand that the Bellagio may still be short staffed and are doing the best they can. I just wanted her to know so that they could fix it during the morning cleanup. She gave us $100 credit to our room. We appreciated that they cared enough to try to rectify the situation. Back to buffet: We decided to use our credit for the Thanksgiving buffet. It was $60.00 a piece plus tax, plus tip, plus breathing air fee (sorry had to throw in a bit of sarcasm). I'm going to be honest, my husband and I are foodies. We looked forward to this buffet as we were away from home. Also we were using our comp. so we weren't out of too much money. The Thanksgiving Buffet: *Waited in line for 2 hours! * Where do I begin? I seriously had better food at our local Luby's. The food was COLD, very bland, and edible at best. This had to be the WORST Thanksgiving meal I ever had! Especially after the wait, I thought, "This food better be spectacular after waiting THIS long!" Meh. So disappointing. Imagine had we paid full price? I would have been livid! Seriously, I would not have paid $25 dollars for this meal. Maybe $10.00--tops! In all fairness there were two decent food items: brussel sprouts (divine), pies very tasty without over spicing, and the macaroni with crab--yummy. But again, everything was cold. *Using hand sanitizer wasn't enforced--we thought they would have employees serve food that way everyone wasn't touching food utensils. Solution for long lines: Two lines for buffet: 1) guests with rooms and 2) locals who are just coming to eat. Staying guests should be seated first. Continued cons: Water in room $22 dollars? Enough said here. I thought I would eat one of the snacks, but then I noticed a layer of dust on the shelf and snacks too! This didn't make it on our video as we were checking out. THE FIRE alarm early in the AM --we were terrified--no explanation. Unacceptable. We give this overall score of 3. Forgot to mention "O" was fabulous! Hope this info was usefull Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Overcharged for extra person through AMEX Fine Hotels. Ridiculous fridge restriction

Booked through AMEX Fine Hotels program for two queen beds room (two adults and one kid). WRONG! It's exactly the same benefits (up to two breakfast credit per day). So the extra fee does NOTHING! (the cost is more than a full buffet per day!!) Going forward, just book AMEX Fine Hotel as two adults (choose two queen beds). there is no reason whatsoever to give Bellagio extra fee for nothing!!! Also be careful with their "fully computerized fridge". It's pretty much fully filled with items that you don't want to touch. Even if you just move it, you will get charged. And the fridge has pretty much no room for your own items. Gee, you'd think even a 2-3 star motel will provide fridge for customer, not Bellagio! they just want you to spend money on their fancy and expensive mini bar! Bellagio very much just said F- off and check with AMEX/Expedia for the extra fee. AMEX did come through at the end to solve the problem itself, a big plus for AMEX! But Bellagio truly disappoints! Couple plus side: the pool is heated and the shower room is large and nice. Read less

At the end of a road trip with kids we wanted to stay 1 night in Vegas before flying back home. But one issue came up: even though I booke for 4 (2 adults+2 kids) there was no beds for the kids. The sofa was… a sofa. Not a sofa bed. So we had to call house keeping to solve for this. They brought two rollaway beds (the room was so big that it didn’t even crowd it 😅) but that was just bizarre. Read less

Starbucks and coffee in the morning a challenge, asked by 4 people were Starbucks was while carrying cups. Need more amenities. Did not even attempt the buffet line-up, it was ridiculous each morning. Very expensive all around. Las Vegas seems to be moving away from catering to gambling and more towards tourist trapping. Do not get me wrong I can not fault the staff at Bellagio for a lot of the issues we encountered, they did their very best. The overall Vegas experience needs to be reviewed by some focus groups and standardized intelligent review panels. This was our 4th time there, 8 days, 7 days, 4 days and 4 days. We consider ourselves knowledgeable about the area. Read less

Beautiful hotel room with a great view of the strip and fountains! Bed was comfortable and room was very clean. The employees are friendly and provide exceptional service. Game play was fun and felt like we were able to play a while for the money we spent.
