The hotel

In a city of fabulous excess where big is always beautiful, the 5,000-room MGM Grand takes the XXL biscuit. The world’s second largest hotel features a 6.5-acre Grand Pool Complex containing four swimming pools, three whirlpools, Vegas’ longest lazy river, and waterfalls. The Wet Republic Ultra Pool holds seasonal pool parties too. And that’s just for starters, as the MGM Grand hosts huge sporting events, top shows such as Ka by Cirque du Soleil, Virtual Reality and famous performers such as David Copperfield. On top of that, Hakkasan regularly hosts DJs Calvin Harris and Tiesto. Peckish after all that? Then take your pick from a mouth-watering range of restaurants that satisfy pretty much any mood and taste you can imagine.

Image of the Tripadvisor rating Large but great

Excellent overall. Not a fan of the smoking in all of the casinos but it is what it is. Rooms are rather small but definitely well kept, clean, and cozy. Extremely large and initially confusing but once acclimated it was easy. Friendly staff. Loved it but the cigarette smoke makes the whole hotel stink.

Manager on duty with very poor customer service. I felt like I went with a complaint so I will get free staff from him. He should know my hotel and food was paid for as it was a work travel. The fact is I had to share room with my co-worker. His attitude was so bad I didn’t even bother taking the free offer that he gave me after.
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Spa was amazing, some of the amenities in our room did not work and when reported did not get fixed right away

Stay well rooms, the bed was great, view was beautiful. We could hear our neighbors through the bathroom (kinda ackward). Very clean and secure. Their time to address problems took forever. But they did comp our buffet so it made up for that. Customer service was ok

We had a great trip, however after a long day of traveling with a new baby we just wanted to relax and watch a movie. The only problem was the tv didn’t work. This made our first night less than desirable.

Been to Vegas about a half dozen times and finally we decided to stay at the MGM Grand. Was always one of our top places to try. Unfortunately, my wife had difficulties with the poor air quality throughout the building. Breathing, coughing and sleeping. We even tried to see if the exhaust fan in our bathroom would help, but that wasn’t functioning. So we turn on the A/C to get air flow, despite the outside temp of 50°. It helped a bit. When you walk into the building from the outside, there is a very musty and smokiness in the air. My poor wife coughed all night long and throughout the stay. Me being an ex-smoker, I was fine. We visited other MGM Resort buildings and that seemed not to be a problem. Maybe the age or we caught it between major cleanings. Not sure if it’s in the carpets or textures ceilings, but I hope the MGM Grand will undertake a thorough cleaning and enforce it’s no smoking policy in no smoking areas. Saw dozens of guys smoking in the sports book, which is a no smoking zone. Smoking in line to get into restaurants and at the theatres. However, it was still a great hotel and lots of fun to stay at. Staff was great, rooms were kept clean and they were quiet. Not sure this helps, but hopefully, one day we can get smoking out of all the building or sections off the smokers... Read less
