MGM Grand Hotel & Casino

Strip, Las Vegas

The hotel

In a city of fabulous excess where big is always beautiful, the 5,000-room MGM Grand takes the XXL biscuit. The world’s second largest hotel features a 6.5-acre Grand Pool Complex containing four swimming pools, three whirlpools, Vegas’ longest lazy river, and waterfalls. The Wet Republic Ultra Pool holds seasonal pool parties too. And that’s just for starters, as the MGM Grand hosts huge sporting events, top shows such as Ka by Cirque du Soleil, Virtual Reality and famous performers such as David Copperfield. On top of that, Hakkasan regularly hosts DJs Calvin Harris and Tiesto. Peckish after all that? Then take your pick from a mouth-watering range of restaurants that satisfy pretty much any mood and taste you can imagine.

Even as m life rewards members we were given an upgrade offer but hotel told us they had no upgrades and couldn’t change our dirty room bc it was sold out- They didn’t try and do anything except take $25 off the bill when I complained AGAIN at checkout- ridiculous! The mini bar has sensors which would charge you even if you lifted any item and placed it back. They should start putting a "do not touch" sign on the mini bar fridge. The rooms were good and so was the room service.

Bed was comfortable with nice comfy pillows and clean bedding. Shower hot and powerful. Good location on the strip. Poolside was fairly good. Plenty of room. Fairly expensive at the bar area but it’s vegas. However my one major complaint is what the little shops inside the hotel charge for water. 1L nearly $6 what a flipping rip off when you can get the same water on the strip for a dollar. In room facilities were poor, no tea or coffee making equipment. There is a lovely pool area if you want to sunbathe. Read less
