The views from the hotel are fantastic and the interactive screens provide fun and interesting facts about different areas of Vegas. We didn’t do any thrill rides but they looked fun too - we even seen someone do the bungy jump from the top! The only downside to this hotel is the location is far away from the rest of the strip because it is right at the end of the strip. Another thing worth noting is behind the hotel is the ‘other’ Las Vegas sign - I preferred this one to the original, it has large dice, chips and painted roulette table on the ground with large show girls either side of the sign - definitely worth getting a picture at and there was only 2 other people there when we went to it! Arrived at check-in after a long day travelling and only a few people in front of me. Got to the desk and handed over my confirmation to be told I had booked Essentials by Sratosphere which was the old original hotel. Didn't quite understand as photos shown when I was making the reservation matched where I was. I was waiting on other family members arriving off a later flight and it was confirmed that they were booked in there. For an extra $10 a night I was told I could have a room there. I was too tired to question it and just paid. Still haven't worked out where I should have been. My room was very nice and comfortable and while it looked over the rooftop of the casino part, it had a great view of the tower and over to the mountains. There is a retail floor with some shops, a Mexican restaurant which is very nice, Fat Tuesdays and a Macdonalds. Had breakfast in the Strat cafe a couple of times which was very nice. There is a Denny's close by. The Strat may be at the top end of the Strip but it is walkable if you don't mind walking or there is a regular bus service which goes up and down and there is a bus stop at the door. The view from the top of the tower is amazing ... you can see forever. There are 2 swimming pools. Read less

So we stayed here for four nights over a week using the hotel as a base for trips into parks in Utah and Arizona. Always nice to come back to a hot shower and a comfortable bed. So we stayed here for four nights over a week using the hotel as a base for trips into parks in Utah and Arizona. Always nice to come back to a hot shower and a comfortable bed. Air conditioner a bit noisy even when “off”. I realise most guests don’t like the heat in Las Vegas but it would be nice if the rooms had access to real fresh air from outside (even if it is a bit warm). We didn’t have too long a wait at check in either time and you can check out on the TV in the room if you have your act together. Given some of the huge queues at other name hotel reception lines we saw I think it’s mean to criticise the staff at Stratosphere for doing a great job of handling courteously each punter as they check in to this place. Family pool very relaxing. Thanks for a pleasant stay. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Don’t upgrade

Was asked if I wanted to upgrade to a refurbished room and agreed for $100 plus tax. My friends were also staying and their room is identical so basically just been ripped off. Don’t upgrade as it’s a con. Also they got a discount for staying over 7 days and we didn’t. Not a bad hotel but because of this won’t stay here again.
