I arrived at the Tropicana Hotel on Friday 1-17 after booking the hotel using Hotel tonight. After waiting on the reservations life for what seemed like forever I was greeted by a Front Desk agent named Sue who was completely rude. She informed me there were no more rooms available in the tower i booked and was asking me to either stay in a smoking room multiple ( I informed her I extremely asthmatic) in which she continued to ask me or for me to move to the bungalows which offer a smaller space After refusing both she also offered me the option of paying an additional fee to be moved to the Club Paradise Tower. I informed her i was not happy with either option and wanted to speak to a manager. She informed me that she was the manager which turned out to be a complete lie. The manager on site after hearing me upset came out and asked what the ordeal was. I explained to him my side of the story and was complimentary upgraded to a King room inside the club paradise tower. After being issued my keys I arrived into the room which reeked of fumes.I immediately called the front desk once again and informed them I will not be able to stay in this room due to the strong smell contained within it. The manager kyle once again sympathetic informed me that he will have to move me to a double queen room as the hotel was sold out. For the inconvenience they removed one night's worth of resort fee's. After waiting what was about 20-30 mins the bellman came and brought me a new set of keys to another room. Upon entering the room i was semi satisfied until i went into the bathroom. There I was met with a repulsive and stomach-churning sight located in the tub. ( Please see photos); After the third room I informed them I would like my money refunded which they refused. I contacted Hotel Tonight and was able to received a partial refund. I just recommend that no one ever stay at this hotel. This has been my 6th time to Vegas and by far the worst Stay I ever had. I had to leave this hotel at 3 am to move to the Trump Who by far has the best service I have experienced on the Las Vegas Strip. Please do me a favor and never stay at this dump. Read less

Our first time in Vegas and we stayed at the Tropicana not really knowing anything about the location, resort, amenities etc ... however we found the hotel and all the staff we spoke to, to be really nice. It is a bit dated and tired, the decor is supposed to resemble a tropical cabin on the beach and it doesn't quite make it. Anyway the cost of the hotel was very reasonable to that old saying 'you get what you pay for' comes to mind. The rooms were clean and quite spacious for just the two of us and the only thing that was missing was tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms, but I guess they want you to use the Starbucks downstairs ($6 a coffee) and put a few dollars on the gaming tables on the way. Our main grumble about our stay is that we found that Las Vegas is soooo over commercialised, everything is geared to get you to spend your money. Which gets a bit frustrating after a while as everything is really expensive. The hotels charge on average $20 each for any kind of sandwich or burger, $10 for a drink and although there is a huge selection of bars and restaurants to choose from on the strip, they are all pretty much the same. Burgers, Chicken and Steak with prices varying from $15 up to $100 per meal. Its really difficult to find somewhere reasonable. The buffet at the Tropicana is $25 each and although we didn't try it I am sure there was plenty of choice and the quality was probably pretty good. But if you're like me you will eat everything just to get your moneys worth and then regret it when you get home and step on the bathroom scales. The strip is also another place where you get constantly pestered to part with your money. There are the people who dress as showgirls, Chippendale's or movie characters wanting money off you for a photo, there's even an Elvis in a motorised scooter!? Beggars and homeless shaking their cups of loose change on every corner. People handing out leaflets then demanding money for them, tour operators, bar owners and I don't know how many times we got sachets of face cream thrust into our hands and then almost dragged into beauty shops - $800 dollars for some age defying collagen cream !! got them down to $89 before we walked out. Would I go back??............ nope sorry. It's ticked off the bucket list, more relaxing places to visit now. Read less

I had spoken to Christian about my concerns when I checked in and he wasn’t able to resolve them to my satisfaction so he was going to have the Hotel Manager or GM call me the following day. Needless to say I never heard from anyone. Because I wasn’t feeling well, it was easier for me to suck it up rather than try to change hotels. As a Gold Hilton Honors member I expected better treatment. Please see the photos to see how disgusting the room was. Read less

Location is pretty good, across street from MGM and Excalibur, close to New York New York, Luxor, and Mandalay Bay. Room size is comfortable. However, this is an old hotel and no comparison to newer hotels nearby. I stayed in this hotel because I am Hilton’s HHonors member. But don’t expect typical Hilton hotel service. The hotel management is okay but sloppy compared to typical Hilton hotels. The resort fee $37/night covers water, WiFi, etc., which are standard benefits for HHonors members. The parking is free and open to public (be careful of parking there), though they tell you it is included in your resort fee. The only thing, which is probably special worthwhile for resort fee, is the famous tropical style pool but it is closed in the winter. Speaking of sloppy hotel management, my HHonors points were not credited in two weeks. After I filed complaint with HHonors, the complaint was forwarded to hotel and hotel completely ignored it. After waiting for one week without response, I had to call HHonors to credit my points directly. The first night we stayed there, our car was burglarized in the hotel garage. I noticed the garage is not only open to public but have multiple entrances relying few security guards to patrol on bike. Professional thieves can get in and out of garage easily. I reported to hotel and Las Vegas Police Department the 2nd morning right away. But when I had HHonors contact hotel to see the status of hotel’s investigation, hotel told HHonors that I never reported the incident. This is another example of poor management. In fact, I recall when I reported the burglary to hotel, the Security Head taking my statement did not even ask what kind of car I have at all. Go figure what they are going to do with my report.
