Hyatt Regency Orange County

Anaheim, Los Angeles

The hotel

Modern, comfortable and wonderfully family friendly, the Hyatt Regency Orange County is an ideal base from which to blitz Disneyland and Disneyland California Adventure. Naturally there’s a shuttle bus to and from Mickey’s Anaheim home, and we love the hotel’s Kids Suites, which give parents and children their own private rooms. The fire pit on the third-floor recreation deck, meanwhile, is the perfect place to unwind with a glass of something, and to cook S’mores under the stars. Add two heated pools, an on-site brewhouse, and loads of other attractions nearby (including some outstanding beaches), and you have everything you need for a great O.C. adventure.

This was our 4th trip to Disneyland and 4th location. We have stayed at Disney property and good neighbor hotels. We now know where we will stay from here on out. Convenient shuttle with all the perks and comfort of Hyatt Regency.

Room was great, food at the conference was OK. Was not a fan of the breakfast burritos, but loved the whole grilled veggies. Wifi was good in the entire hotel. 3rd floor outdoor space was pretty cool.

We just returned from a one night stay. In general, the best part of this hotel is the facility itself. The lobby is a huge atrium with glass windows several stories tall. It lets in a lot of natural light and makes it stand out from your typical 4* hotel. The lobby is well equipped with a Starbucks, bar, restaurant, ice cream parlor, small deli, and a store. There are two computers with a printer that serve as the "business center" which I found a little lacking, and saw that they actually charge to use the computers (though printing boarding passes are free.) I have never seen a charge for using computers in any hotel. The standout for me was the 3rd floor deck with a pool and newly renovated games court. The court is expansive and has some kind of paddle board court (like a mini tennis area), ping pong, shuffle board, big score four game, bocce ball and a basketball hoop. It was never crowded and I spent a good amount of time there with my teenage son. There is also a nice gym that has two rooms of good equipment, and a ballet bar. The 3rd floor pool, however, was another story. It was over crowded with a lot of screaming kids. Our first choice pool was the one on the first floor just outside the Starbucks. It is a warmer pool and there is also a jacuzzi there, unlike on the 3rd floor. However, as we walked in, we saw a sign that said the pool was closing from 3-9:30 pm for an event. I choose hotels based on having a nice pool/spa area to use while I'm there. So that was very disappointing. When I checked in at 2, there was no mention of this. Had I known, I would have gone down to the first floor pool immediately to enjoy for an hour. I think it's best for hotels to be transparent about these kinds of things to avoid inconveniencing and disappointing guests. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. There were some loud door slams late at night, so plan on using white noise to block it out. There was no dial tone on the phone so I was not able to order room service. The two women I dealt with at the front desk during my stay were friendly. An odd thing happened when I pulled up to the hotel though. I was in happy vacation mode with my kids in the back seat. The valet did not greet me as I anticipated, but instead without speaking, pointed to his right (and not in a friendly way), indicating I should move my car there. It seemed strange because it was sort of an island of cars parked in the center, and not in the main circle in front of the hotel where you normally park to check in. Then a woman came up to me and kept repeating a word I couldn't understand (my daughter said it was "joy.") I just shook my head no because I didn't know what she was talking about. Then the valet reached to open my door to let the lady in my car! At that moment another car pulled up behind me and they both realized their error in thinking I was a Uber/Lyft but neither acknowledged anything they did. The woman said twice in defense, "The cars are the same." Um... no, Hondas and Mitsubishis are not the same. I am not criticizing the hotel for having a clueless or visually disabled guest, but added that info because that was an opportunity for an apology from the valet, which I did not get. So to the valet: You might get your share of grumpy Uber/Lyft drivers. But I was happily anticipating my stay and had my smiley face on as I pulled up with my two teens in the backseat. We all deal with all sorts of people everyday. I personally try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, and I'm not even in customer service. So please just greet everyone nicely, even if there might not be a tip at the end of it. And if you make a mistake, a simple "I'm sorry" goes a long way. To end on a positive note, if not for those two customer service issues, I would give the hotel 5 stars for the facility and amenities and the lower room cost than other hotels of this class in Anaheim. This hotel was perfect for us! The Disneyland shuttle was super easy to, affordable and reliable. The hotel staff is top notch (kind, friendly, professional) and the room was great (very very clean and quiet). I will definitely stay there again when we return to Disneyland.

We stayed here whilst on vacation in California. Upon arrival large self park car park near hotel entrance so no issue with parking , and this was included in hotel cost. Check in quick and efficient and huge impressive lobby area. We had two rooms on 10th floor overlooking car park. Both rooms were huge living area with sofa fridge TV microwave all very handy. Huge TV in living area. Very comfortable bed another TV good controlled air conditioning. Bath room big good shower bath plenty of towels and toliteries . My only reason for not giving this a five was windows to room were filthy you could not see out of them and the furniture is tired. Room cleaned daily and whole hotel very clean. Good pool area with sun beds towels and hot tub. Geat games floor with loads of family games to play. Locations was great for Disney with a bus to take you there or five minute drive to car park . You could walk it in about halve an hour. Great Target across the street. OC Brewhouse on site very good with good burgers . Overall would good back a geat hotel for a Disney visit Read less
