Hilton Los Angeles-Universal City

Hollywood, Los Angeles

The hotel

A Hollywood hangout with noteworthy neighbours, this LA bolthole’s just a block from the theme ride heaven of Universal Studios, a subway trip from the star-studded sidewalk of Hollywood Boulevard, and a hop from the Hollywood Hills. That hasn’t stopped Hilton Los Angeles Universal City coming up with a few extra treats of its own though – like the cool resort-style pool and hot tub in its garden, and the casual dining of its Café Sierra, Atrium Lounge, Coffee Corner, and Pool Bar & Grill venues. Most make a beeline straight for Universal Studios – and, despite it being just around the corner, there’s a complimentary shuttle to save you walking. And, while you’re there, you can also take in a movie, grab cocktails or craft beers, hit big-name shops, and dine at celeb-chef eateries in the neon lustre of Universal CityWalk.

Needs updates and proper room maintenance. Bad experience trying to get things fixed. Would not stay at this location again and would not recommend vto families. Stay next door at the Radisson Hotel if possible

We checked in for a four night stay in a room for two with a view of the park. Somehow we ended up with the city view instead. Called down to Kevin, who is the hotel manager (what luck) and he was so pleasant and nice. I'm not sure if our booking agency made the mistake, but the Hilton fixed it and gave us a wonderful room facing Universal so we could watch the lights at night and the beautiful hills. The room was beautiful and had the best bathroom and THOSE SHEETS! We didn't want to be out of those comfortable beds! But we forced ourselves....anyway, Linda at the desk and her manager Kevin were the best hotel staff we had ever seen. We both had airline careers so thought we were somewhat of an authority on hotels. After each long day at the park, we fell into the bar which is right by the entrance thank goodness. Half priced Happy Hour appetizers and sprits kept us going! The staff behind the bar counter was not very efficient but those waiters who served us were really quick and nice. Breakfast - OMG, if you want to get ready for a big day at the park, eat breakfast in their restaurant. There are two levels of buffets or you can order from the menu. I ordered from the menu - omelets each morning. The best - pick your ingredients and out comes a tasty and really fluffy omelet. Strong coffee, too To sum its up, between the fantastic location of the hotel, a shuttle that takes you right to Universal, along with the incredible staff (thanks Kevin and Linda!), the linens and ambiance, why would anyone want to stay anywhere else? We could see burbank airport and the freeway which was always interesting to watch. We had mentioned to reception we were on our honeymoon and after coming back from dinner that night, reception had organised a plate of chocolate covered strawberries and a nice bottle of bubbly. free of charge of course. What a great place to stay. During the rest of our stay everyone who worked there was delightful. We had breakfast at the restaurant every morning and it was a great spread! the hotel is located walking distance from universal studios. we would recommend this hotel to anyone! Read less

We arrived by Uber, to which I had a member of staff open my door and help me out of the car. He then proceeded to open the door for us. All a nice little touch. Our check in was quick and easy, must have taken 3-4 minutes at the most. The guy who checked us in (I can’t remember his name, sorry!) was polite and friendly, very efficient! We were given room 1461. A large room with a king sized bed. Large tv, nice sofa with a decent view. The bathroom was a good size too, with a very powerful shower. Plenty of toiletries were provided as well, which was handy for us as we only travelled with hand luggage so had limited toiletries. We went down to the bar, to find that we were in time for happy hour! $6 beer and $6 house wine.. happy days!! I’m not sure what time it started but it finished at 6pm. The staff were lovely and efficient, kept our glasses topped up! They also had small bowls of snacks on the bar which is always a winner for me! Our bed was very comfortable once we headed back to sleep. Nice and big too. The cleaners are very friendly and helpful. I requested an extra tea bag and some milk, for a second cup of tea (such an English thing, but I miss my morning cup of tea more than I realised on this vacation!!) and she assisted straight away! One thing about this hotel is the friendliness of the staff. Everyone we encountered were lovely. Even walking around the hotel, the staff will say hello as they walk past you. Nothing much, but it’s a little touch that goes a long way in my opinion! Keep up the great work!! Read less
