Hilton Los Angeles-Universal City

Hollywood, Los Angeles

The hotel

A Hollywood hangout with noteworthy neighbours, this LA bolthole’s just a block from the theme ride heaven of Universal Studios, a subway trip from the star-studded sidewalk of Hollywood Boulevard, and a hop from the Hollywood Hills. That hasn’t stopped Hilton Los Angeles Universal City coming up with a few extra treats of its own though – like the cool resort-style pool and hot tub in its garden, and the casual dining of its Café Sierra, Atrium Lounge, Coffee Corner, and Pool Bar & Grill venues. Most make a beeline straight for Universal Studios – and, despite it being just around the corner, there’s a complimentary shuttle to save you walking. And, while you’re there, you can also take in a movie, grab cocktails or craft beers, hit big-name shops, and dine at celeb-chef eateries in the neon lustre of Universal CityWalk.

The hotel is beautiful, great rooms, beautiful sites, and the service is the best I have ever had. One of the girls at check-in started the process of the amazing service, her name was (Melissa) she was absolutely the nicest most professional person, and a delight, she started our weekend off picking up our spirits from a long drive and creating smiles all around. Everything about this experience to Hilton Universal was a 10! Read less

Andre from Sierra Cafe took care of us well from our dinner buffet and also breakfast the next day. Almost all staff was great but then we checkout and I went back to FD to settle some issues with my bill. After taking care of the guest in front of me, Aimee did not even acknowledge me and continued to work on something in the computer. Also proceeded to talk to her coworker before finally helping us with some attitude. Read less

Checked in last night, and Tori Parker was the most professional and helpful front desk supervisor I have ever encountered. She really made sure that my stay at the hotel was as stress free as possible. I wish every front desk receptionists was as friendly and helpful as Tori.

Our January trip to Universal studios was made even more magical by our stay at Universal Hilton! To the delight of our little wizard, our view from the 17th floor into the park was equivalent to what you see on commercials, looking straight at Hogwarts. Traveling with 3 children, we were a little intimidated by the upscale feel of the hotel, but the staff was very friendly and accommodating. If you can afford it, take advantage of valet parking, as taking luggage up from the self parking garage with no luggage carts available is a bit of a chore. Tip, if you take the parking elevator to the 4th floor you will not have to drag your luggage through the restaurant and lobby. I also will note that, although no luggage carts are available, the front desk did offer to send someone to help with the luggage if we needed them to. If you are planning to eat breakfast at the hotel, it is a bit spendy, $20 for adults for continental breakfast, or $30 for the full buffet. We chose the continental which was still more than enough to fill us all up. The food was very fresh and high quality, and at the end I felt the price was at least semi-justified. VISIT THE POOL! Even at 9:00 in the morning with 40 degree weather the pool was heated to a comfortable level. Surrounded by beautiful palm trees and a spectacular view of the California hills, your soul will feel replenished! There is a short 8 minute walk to the theme park (partially uphill) or you can take a free shuttle that takes about the same amount of time Read less
