We had a huge problem with our reservation, spent almost 2 hours in the lobby, and we were so grateful for the exceptional service and kindness that came from Kiara. She kept checking on us and offering us beverages while we figured out the stressful situation. Later when we returned to our room, she had left us a bag of goodies and a very sweet… Read more

I am a Marriott Gold Bonvoy member that's been traveling out to LA for work every 2 to 3 weeks since November. Normally I stay downtown at the Westin, but decided to to stay at the W in Hollywood for my latest stay due to my experience previously at other W hotels, location in Hollywood, and proximity to the metro line which takes you straight into downtown LA. Pros: Nicely designed rooms and lobby, comfortable beds, nice place for drinks and music between the lobby lounge and rooftop pool Cons: The noise level - room had sound machine but I could still hear the noise from outdoor bar/ lounge late into night - something to keep in mind for business travelers looking to get sleep at a reasonable hour - if this was the only con would have given 4 stars. However, biggest issue was when I tried to cancel my first night there since I was arriving a day late - I called and was told that due to Marriott policy they had to charge me the full amount of room/fees/taxes no matter what (which is not true because other properties have worked with me to modify). When I called Marriott Bonvoy they pointed the finger at W Management and raised a ticket to get my money refunded due to the number of nights I have stayed at Marriott. Going back to the W - the front desk staff went in to talk with Manager. Manager would not come out and pointed finger back at Marriott. Also during my stay, I was offered no room upgrade and incorrectly charged for internet even though it's free for Marriott Gold Bonvoy members. When I addressed this issue after my stay, I was told it's been a rocky transition for W hotels into Marriott and that I would be refunded for the internet charges - which I am still waiting for. This whole experience has led me to great disappointment not only in W hotels but also the Marriott Bonvoy program. I am switching to the Omni for my next stay later this month, to see if they have a better loyalty program and treat guests in a better fashion. Read less

My husband and I stayed at the W for three nights while we were in town for a family event. It was a very nice stay at an attractive property in a good location, with a few service lapses keeping this from being a five-star review. I’ll start with the high points. The location is lovely, with nice views of Hollywood and the Capitol Records building. We used our Marriott suite nights for an upgrade, and the suite was spacious, modern, and beautiful, with wrap-around views, a nice bathroom, and really excellent, spa-quality shampoo, conditioner, and product. The lobby is huge and gorgeous, with fun music and good indoor and outdoor bars. To my surprise, the bars never got all that crowded. Like every W, the hotel has a bit of a too-cool-for-you feel to it, but that’s the brand. You know what you’re getting when you stay at a W; it’s modern, dark lighting, club-type music, and fashion-focused. Not necessarily the ideal vibe for an unstylish introvert like myself, but totally fine. The staff is polite and responsive, and most are friendly, though some are more aloof. There were a few “First World Problem”-type issues that keep me from making this a five-star review. For a luxury brand, there were some pricing decisions that seemed a bit cheap to me. Valet is $50 a day, when there are self-park options nearby that are about a third of that price. The suites provide only a single small bottle of complementary water a day, with lots of $5 bottles scattered around the room. You have to ask for turndown service, and one night we asked for it, were told the “style team” was on the way, and we returned to our room hours later to find the turndown never happened. We also called one morning to ask for information about hiking in Angeles National Forest. We were told the concierge did not open until 10, but the front desk staff would see what they could find. We never heard back from them. And even though we had late check-out confirmed, the room attendant was knocking on our door at 11 am to ask if we were checking out. These are minor issues, but for a luxury brand charging luxury prices, they do result in a small downgrade in the review. That said, happy to recommend this as a nice hotel in a good location if your travel brings you to Hollywood. Read less

The location is very convenient and easily walkable for the Hollywood area. The valet parking was one of the most efficient and fastest of the W's I have stayed at. It has a more grand vibe of the 2 W properties in the Los Angeles area. Read less

My husband always saying wouldn't be fun so stay here. So this time I surprised him with a room when we went to see CAT'S. We loved the hotel. We will be back. All of the staff was very friendly. The W has a art deco look. The mini bar in our room is circle table. The bed is low and super soft like your sleeping on a cloud. I do thinking parking was way to high $$$ .We are Marriott Bonvoy Members. Read less
