What happened to the W chain of hotels? Remember when they used to be kind of cool and fun? Now, it just seems pathetic how hard they try to be hip. Instead they are just sad and annoying. What happened to the W chain of hotels? Remember when they used to be kind of cool and fun? Now, it just seems pathetic how hard they try to be hip. Instead they are just sad and annoying. We checked in on a Thursday evening. It didn't seem particularly busy, however, one of the seemingly large group of valet workers told me rather gruffly to just wait when I mentioned I was parking the car for valet. He seemed more interested in getting to the new lime green Porsche which pulled up along side me before any of his co-workers could. All this and the privilege of paying $56 for one night of parking. Walking into the lobby, the absolutely awful electronica music coming from the adjacent empty lobby bar was deafening - to the point where the clerk checking us in and myself were literally yelling at each just to be heard. I guess somebody at the hotel thinks this is a sign of hipness to blast horrible dance music. It's not. It's just embarrassing. Being a top level life long Marriott member, the clerk told me I was upgraded to a room with a city view. However, when I opened the only dirty window in the room, I was staring into another building right across the street. I can only guess I didn't hear him correctly over the "music" in the lobby and, obviously he said " I pity your view", not "You have a city view". Anyhow, word of advice W Hollywood. Don't try so hard to be hip, it's not working. Try to just be fun and a little cool instead. And turn down the horrible music in the lobby bar. Or at least play something decent. Read less

I booked my stay at W hotel in California. I booked my stay at the W West Hollywood. I arrived and was told that I did not have a reservation at that location. Instead, my reservation was for W Hollywood. I asked to please cancel the W Hollywood reservation and I would make my new reservation at the W West Hollywood location. I was informed I would have to contact W Hollywood to cancel with them and go online to book the W West Hollywood location even though I was already in front of the reservation desk. I called to cancel my night at the W Hollywood and was informed that since I did not show up that day I would still be charged for the night. I explained, I was staying the night at the W West Hollywood for that night. I was charged for the night I did not stay at the W Hollywood even though I stayed at the W West Hollywood! I called several times pleading my case with multiple people and each person told me “I am being charged because I did not stay at the W Hollywood" How can I stay at the W Hollywood when I am staying at the W West Hollywood that same day!!! Seriously I stayed at their other hotel the SAME NIGHT at the W West Hollywood. W Hollywood refused to credit my stay so, I had to pay for staying at the W West Hollywood (where I did stay that night) and also for the same night at W Hollywood! Anyone thinking of staying at the W Hollywood or W West Hollywood DO NOT DO IT! DO NOT GOOOOOO!!! DO NOT DO IT!!! YOU will end up being DISSAPPOINTED!!! Read less

Likewise, the front staff was excellent as well and Johnny and Eddie in Management was outstanding as well. They helped addressed my questions prior to my stay, help with special occasion, and provided me some insight on rooms, etc. Overall, it was a great experience and highly recommend the W Hotel if ever in the LA area. I was given an upgraded room which very nice and very clean. I travel frequently for work and it is evident that staff takes the need to wipe down and sanitize all surfaces very seriously. Felt very comfortable at the hotel. We enjoyed the outdoor pool on the rooftop and the drinks were excellent. Highly recommend this hotel, whether it is for business or pleasure. Read less
