Image of the Tripadvisor rating Close to everything, but the view is kind of weak

The W is world renowned and when you see the room, you know why (jewel encrusted peep holes??) . I loved everything about the hotel, including the staff. It was a bit odd to see what looked like an adult themed party in the lobby, but it was classy and pornstars are people too. Sadly the rain meant the roof top pool was closed, but that is… Read more

It was a bit odd to see what looked like an adult themed party in the lobby, but it was classy and pornstars are people too. Sadly the rain meant the roof top pool was closed, but that is understandable. The room view is kind of weak on the South side, but it is a big city with buildings everywhere so I cant much complain. Also, very close to Hollywood walk of fame and the metro, and a 10 dollar Uber from Universal. Much better than the Hilton which sits next door, because walking from Hilton took longer than the Uber ride from the W. Plus, at the W..you may see a celeb ;) Read less

She linked my business stay to my personal stay in the same room. Sydnee, thank you so much for making such a great first impression of staying at the hotel, the W is lucky to have you! This leads to an extension of my trip where I want to give many thanks to Morgan! She went above and beyond to make the trip extension smoothly from keeping me in the same room to closing out one stay while extending the next! Morgan, thank you for everything to make us feel welcome which led to us staying longer! You are a great representative of the W and they are lucky to have you! Any business or personal travel I think will agree with me, when you are traveling, it is experiences with a hotel team such as Morgan and Sydnee that make you want to come back which I did in the same trip! Thank you Morgan and Sydney! Read less

As a loyal Bon Voy member, I try to stay at Marriott hotels were possible. This stay, has me questioning my loyalty. The location is great and the hotel itself is amazing. Very hip with a cool vibe, and amazingly decorated. My issues was the service and the housekeeping. Due to an early morning meeting the night after I arrived, I inquired about a complimentary upgrade to something a little larger were I could hold the meeting. After being laughed at by the front desk clerk, I was offered a room of, in his words "the exact same size" for $50 a night additional, or if I wanted something a little larger it would be $250. I didn't expect anything for free, or I didn't feel entitled to anything, but to be laughed at for asking, and then offer an upgrade to what would amount to $1000 for my 4 night stay, was not welcomed. I would have been happy, with "sorry, we don't have anything". When I politely declined the offer, the front desk clerk said "well I'm sure you didn't expect something for free did you?". Again, not necessary. Our room was great and well appointed. The view was terrible, but I wasn't there for the view. The next day we left early and ensured we removed the Do Not Disturb sign from the door and left. When we returned later that night (11pm), our room hadn't been made up. We called down and was told there was nothing they could do now - we didn't expect the room to be made up at that time of night, but would have appreciated towels, but we were told it would be at least an hour to get some. The next day the room was made up - or should I say the bed was made and we had towels. They didn't remove or replace the dirty glasses, including two wine glasses which we had to wash by hand ourselves later that night. During our stay, our garbage in the main room or bathroom were never emptied nor was our ice bucket. I never expected special treatment or anything for free - I did ask for an upgrade, as usually this request does get accommodated, but I always understand when its not possible. However, the housekeeping and cleanliness is definitely not acceptable. This is an expensive hotel and I would have expected a higher standard in this area, but it was not to be. As much as I liked the location and enjoyed the physical hotel itself, I don't think I would sty here again. Read less
