Mark Goldrup and Tameka run a fine ship, not perfect, but fine. The building, the furthest away from the airport is the most distinguished of all airport properties. It reminds one of the pyramids of Egypt. The lobby is majestic. The most photographed of any. Tall, tall ceiling, piano, ELEVATORS clearly marked. Breakfast was supurb but could use choice of 3 ingredients, not 2 as standard fare. Escalator to the mezzanine. Elevator buttons logically placed, G for ground or 1st floor. Bar the largest too of any and first class selection of wines, Grinch, Rodney Strong, and another Napa Valley Sterling vineyards. Security is quite adequate, uniformed men round the clock in the lobby, polite but carry handcuffs. Well lite lobby too, the best as floor to ceiling glass. Check in was slow on a Friday night, only 2 working. However they work hard, not off at 11:00 pm, but 1:00 am. Very clean lobby, hallways and room. A/C not the best, hotel built in 1985, before global warming. Loud A/C in the hallways. Annoying power surges at night as lights momentarily dimmed. Huge flat screen television (oversize). Firm mattress, hot water but takes awhile to heat a tub. Huge Braintree shower head which is either hand held or permanetly secured. Logical 2 riles of toilet paper side by side and easily reachable. Bedding linen not the smoothest but adequate. Secret:. Choose a lower floor as less jet noise. Mixed group of guests from all lands. Before Covid, hotel was home to cruise line passengers before they departed the harbor. Bathroom has a light going all around the mirror. Another mirror, circular stares at you in the room. Double beds almost as large as a king. Touch entry with key. Room was politely set at 68 degrees. A first at LAX. Freeway ramp is but seconds away. Last night it took an hour to get here from the first terminal on the one way street, being a Friday night.carpeting nice, both in hallway and rooms. Room windows show that they have been cleaned. Rudy Artiga, Director of Rooms is the right man for the job, his pants had a better crease than mine. Flat screen tvs are in the lobby with music too. Breakfast was so filling I had to leave some if the food on the plate. My server has worked here 12 years. No substitute for experience. Though we had to wait a little too long to be seated. Hotel usually is sold out on the weekends. Compare the price. Easy access from your car as driveway is circular. Room view is nice, from any room at night or day the expanse of the city is seen. No ugly machinery anywhere to spoil the view. Logical black out curtains in front of the main curtains, not behind it. A blackout room assures a good sleep. No annoying LED lights which can interfere. Vanity mirror in bathroom. Modern toilet with two buttons stop and in the middle of the toilet tank water compartment. Motion detector did not turn on lights, but turned them off after leaving. Classic old fashion lamp switches one turns near the bulb which beats modern almost impossible to see small buttons at the base. Though the Westin is the furthest east of all, remember the sun rises in the east as does this landmark. Read less

Sep 30, 2021 simpleliving_85 New York City, New York

I missed my connecting flight in LAX so I needed to spend the night at LAX. I thought the Westin had a good reputation and would be clean. Woke up the next morning covered in bites on my chest, face and arm. They later confirmed there were bedbugs in the room.

We were told the room was "upgraded" not sure was upgraded, it was as stark of a room as you can imagine. Service in the lounge was SLOOOOW. Its no wonder people are staying n Air BNBs. Its time for hotels to stop hiding behind the pandemic. Get the staff they need and provide the services that we are paying for. Its not like the room rate was dropped to a "no frills" rate. Our 1st park and fly since late 2019. Hotel as nice as always and Daily Grill serves an abbreviated dinner which was good as always. Our room had a peloton bike which was new to us at least but we were only there less than 12 hours. See you in 3 weeks for the Rolling Stones!
