Meadowood Napa Valley

Napa, Napa Valley Wine Region

The hotel

Taking you beyond luxury, Meadowood is the very essence of wine country: elegant, indulgent, and inspired by the vineyards surrounding it. Bringing together a perfect blend of social buzz and discreet solitude, its cottages, suites and lodges sit among forests and lawns, with features including fireplaces and outdoor spaces like decks or porches. This being Napa Valley, there are daily wine receptions; but the extravagances at this country estate don’t stop there. There’s a 3 Michelin star restaurant, a soothing health spa, two outdoor swimming pools (one for families, the other for adults), and endless leisure pursuits (like golf, tennis, croquet, hiking, and even Zumba and yoga classes). And, if you’re tempted to leave this luxury, the complimentary house car can take you to downtown Yountville or St Helena.

The staff and amenities make this resort a very special place. The new pool facility is very nice and so is the gym. The food/restaurants on property are also fantastic. Great home base to explore Napa for a week.

We had been really excited about staying at Meadowood -- having been to the restaurant a few years ago, we were keen to get a chance to spend more time at what is admittedly a beautiful property. We booked a night through Hotels.com and selected an option where we could pay at the hotel. There was no cancellation policy cited and we were never told we had to cancel by a certain date. Unfortunately, the devastating fires in the region precluded us from making the trip. We called Meadowood and told them we needed to cancel. They told us we were not within the window and would have to call Hotels.com as it was not up to them, it was up to Hotels.com because we should have cancelled four days sooner. I was surprised because it was the first I had ever heard regarding a required cancel-by date. We called Hotels.com, and they called Meadowood multiple times. Despite what Meadowood had told us on the phone, it was MEADOWOOD--not Hotels.com--who controlled the cancellation and MEADOWOOD who ultimately charged us $1,000 for a hotel room we could not use for circumstances beyond our control. Be very careful about EVER making reservations here--they clearly care far more about making any buck that they can than building any sort of customer loyalty. Read less

There is certainly nothing wrong with Meadowood. It's a nice place and I'm reviewing it based on a 5 star hotel... ie it's just okay in relation to other 5 star places. The restaurant on property (not the super pricey one) is kinda dingy and food not that great. The location is pretty, but you feel more like you're in Tahoe than Napa... which,… Read more

Was celebrating an anniversary so u ordered fruit and chocolate covered strawberries in advance. Where in other places this is given free of charge in the spirit of celebrating an occasion, I was sent a menu of charges for all these extras. Chocolate covered strawberries coat 6 dollars a piece. It wasn’t even delivered so the surprise was ruined. When I mentioned this to the front desk, this was thankfully rectified and done free of charge. Would’ve also been nice if there were more TV channels to choose from, and it is difficult getting around the property without the use of a buggy. Food at the The Grill was not good but perhaps that is because it was a Sunday and the usual chef wasn’t working. Rooms are comfortable however, and the fireplace is a nice touch. The minibar is well stocked and complimentary drink and cookies at the lobby is also a lovely touch. Friendly front desk. Read less
