The hotel

Distinctly Mediterranean in style, the DoubleTree by Hilton Sonoma Wine Country offers a relaxing resort escape in the middle of California’s world-famous wine country. Other top-notch amenities include a delightful courtyard heated swimming pool, perfect for lounging by with a glass of local wine and a fitness centre with state-of-the-art equipment. A complimentary wine and cheese reception every Friday evening from May-Oct, is a great opportunity to meet fellow guests and staff, comparing vineyard notes perhaps and sightseeing tips. When it comes to dining, Bacchus is a joy, with its casually elegant atmosphere and al-fresco heated patio overlooking the Sonoma Mountains. Drawing from an abundance of local produce, the menu is creative and ever changing with wines perfectly paired to your meal. The staff is very understanding and kind almost to a fault. Certainly praise is warranted for Raul, who works miracles. But recognition should be given to Steve Thomson, Andrew, and all the staff who make the stay enjoyable. Rooms are of decent size and some have views overlooking the calming courtyard. Lighting is excellent and Direct TV provides information. My complaints are the strange $15 parking fee (this is Rohnert Park!) and the lack of any grab bars by or in the tub. But management can arrange housekeeping to provide some aids for anyone with disabilities. I can see that down the road renovations will be made. A limited bar menu provides breakfast and dinner items. Very good salmon and berry parfait with real berries. The pizza should be withdrawn. Doughy with few ingredients. Interesting drinks. All in all be prepared to enjoy the friendliness of the staff and a chance to unwind. Read less

I enjoyed a weekend stay with my partner. Everything was as to be expected in light of Covid conditions. Areas were clearly marked, the bar had some food options, the pool was open, and the rooms were clean. Lots of families and couples. Everyone was respectful of each other and of course freshly baked cookies daily. The only thing I wish the staff gave you a quick breakdown of what to expect (like no housekeeping service during your stay and how everything is closed in the area by 9p) when you checked in. This is a great area to stay if you want to do day trips to surrounding towns and even just relax. I was pleasantly surprised to find a shared balcony with my hotel neighbors. We were all very respectful of each other and at night when it cooled off it was nice to sit outside. One thing is the walls are very thin and you can hear people next door, upstairs, and in the hallways. When life is normal I will be back to experience this place with all the wonderful amenities. We spent one night at the hotel in August 2020 and there’s no way we are going back. The walls are paper thin and we could hear every single step the neighbor above us would make at 5 am (and they clearly enjoyed walking) and the room would shake with it. We were given free breakfast because of the Hilton Gold status: we could choose between a fruit loops cup, cold croissant or a too-ripe banana. Oh, and the toilet in our room was clogged when we arrived and nobody was available to help during the night so we had to take care of it ourselves. If it was up to the hotel staff, they would’ve dealt with it in the next morning (good luck if you need the bathroom during the night). There was nothing good about this property. Read less

So I booked this hotel since it was $10.00 cheaper than another Hilton property. Upon checking in they mentioned at the end of process there was a $ 15.00 charge for parking. So that makes it more than the other property and the parking lot was mostly empty. So just a tax and a bait n switch on the real room price. I complained but to no avail… Read more

After getting into my room and turning the AC on it wouldn’t cool down the room. So I switched rooms and had to go back and get the new keys. New room same problem fan works but not really cold. This is an old hotel and obviously the central AC is not the best. So in the summer or if you like your room at 70 degrees like me I would avoid this hotel. The bed and TV were nice but the 1970’s desk chair was really uncomfortable. Also one last thing my room was about a 1/2 mile from check in ...lol it took ten minutes and walking down 6 turns and 5 hallways my elderly grandmother would have never made it! And don’t get me started on the hand made AC filter not very safe now a days. Good bye Doubletree wasn’t nice knowing you Read less

I would like to give a huge shout out to Raul at the front desk who each time goes above and beyond to make sure my stay is even better. I seriously can not say enough good things about him and his customer service. He deserves a raise. I hope when visiting this property you are able to experience what an amazing employee that he is. This property is really lucky to have him. Read less
