I love Fairmont hotels and stay in them whenever I can. We were less than impressed with this one. To start, the surrounding area wasn't that nice (coming from the south) and we were very surprised the hotel was located there. We arrived late at night (11:30-midnight) and there was no around in the drive so we weren't even sure we were near reception. I went to checked and explained to the clerk we were traveling with two teens and wanted their room near ours. NOTE TO STAFF: 220 and 224 are not near each other! There are ELEVEN rooms and a long hallway between them. Your front desk staff should know where the rooms are! I asked where to park and she said she would park the car. Manning the front desk and valeting? No bellhops that's for sure. I went out to tell my family to come in when two other people showed up out of nowhere. I'm not even sure the man worked there, but another woman took our car for us. We then went back in to ask where our room was located. She showed us a map and directed us down a long hallway. NOTE: THERE ARE NO STAIRS! We lugged our bags noisily up some stairs, followed the signs to our rooms, finally arrived and then the next morning saw there was a staircase case RIGHT BEHIND the reception desk she should have told us to take. It was extremely annoying. The room was fine but as an older property, it definitely has a feeling of being a little creaky and antiquated. Our teens called in "creepy". Room 224 is a view of the back parking lot. Room 220 is a view of a dumpster so take your pick. The grounds of the hotel are pretty. Sitting around a firepit with a cocktail was lovely. Sunday brunch was good served with a very competent friendly staff. We only stayed two nights. A few nights later I realized I couldn't find a pair of glasses. Since we were still in the area, I called and inquired if I had Ieft them in my room. I was told "Yes, the report says there is a pair here left in your room the day you checked out." Then, WHY DIDN'T YOU CONTACT ME?? I had to search high and low and as a last resort called the Fairmont. When I went in to retrieve them, there was a gentleman complaining about his room. I was not really surprised. Read less

The spa is a great day escape - I had a massage with Adam which blissed me out. I would have given this 5 stars but the other guests were pigs. Someone was actually eating French fries in the Roman bath area: the outdoor jacuzzi actually had someone eating a salad inside the jacuzzi. Folk were shouting in the quiet zone. Weird. A lot of alcoholic drinking too. Tibetan salt dry sauna was lovely- so many elements divine but the crowd lousy. Maybe a Friday is better than a Sunday ? Read less

Had an amazing time here at the Fairmont. Friendly staff, clean environment and relaxing space, what more can you ask for? The only thing is that the spa water smelled like chlorine, I don’t know a lot about hot springs but should it smell like that?
