The Lodge at Sonoma

Sonoma, Napa Valley Wine Region

The hotel

An award-winning spa hotel, the Lodge combines authentic artisan surrounds with ultra modern facilities to create a haven of casual sophistication. In the heart of Sonoma’s wine valley, guest rooms are beautifully furnished, spacious and very well-equipped with your own private patio or balcony from which to admire your stunning surrounds. As well as an outdoor heated swimming pool to lounge by and a spa tub, the Raindance Spa is nothing short of world-class. Treatments draw upon the natural healing properties of the region’s extensive natural bounty, including lavender and grape seed, to leave you feeling ready to face the world again! There are restaurants aplenty in nearby Sonoma Plaza but for a gastro treat look no further than Carneros Bistro Wine Bar, named as one of the Top 50 Restaurants in the Bay Area. Delicious dishes crafted from fresh, local ingredients are accompanied by a hand-selected wine list – again, all local of course!

Luckily we had nice weather when we were there but I’m not sure how fun it would be if it rained. The room was quite large and very comfortable. We enjoyed the amenities they gave us for the bathroom and really liked the pool area. With the resort fee the rooms also have bikes that you can use. The resort is not really that big to bike around but we ended up biking along a nice trail behind the hotel. It’s easily accessible by biking along Leveroni road going opposite to Broadway. Right after a small vineyard you’ll reach the entrance to the trail. The bikes are a bit difficult to use but eventually we got the hang of it. Overall great hotel with friendly staff and we would love to go back one day. Read less

My husband and I spent a long weekend with our children. We enjoyed the quiet and seclusion of the property with amenities, such as wine tasting, welcome champagne and a lovely brunch. While the rooms are a bit tired, they had everything we needed for the time we were there. The main restaurant was closed when we were there, but the brunch… Read more

While the rooms are a bit tired, they had everything we needed for the time we were there. The main restaurant was closed when we were there, but the brunch restaurant had full service and overlooked the pool. We enjoyed the short shuttle into Sonoma for dinner and the location is close to Sonoma, Headlsburg, and fairly close to Napa and Calistoga. Read less

We have stayed here probably 5-6 times over the last 3 years, and used to really love coming to this hotel. This time, we had checked in around 1PM which was very nice of them to let us check in early. Typically we get a free upgrade to the cottage but I guess this time there were no upgrades available. We get to our room and the water was not working. I called down to the front desk, they said they were so sorry so they asked me to come down to the front desk and exchange my keys to move to a cottage. I bring my stuff downstairs, and when i reach the front desk they apologized and said they don't have any cottages unfortunately. Kind of annoying i brought all of my luggage downstairs so they could tell me that. They said they did have a nicer room but we would have to come back at 1:30pm and that they would call when the room was ready. At 1:30pm we show up and i had no received a call, but suprisingly it was ready. We get into our room, and there is MAJOR construction work happening in the room next to us until 5 o'clock or so, it sounded like a guy had a sander directly on the other side of our wall. Why wouldn't they tell us there is construction happening in the room next to us? So strange, you would think that you explain that to someone. Very frustrating. When we checked out no one asked how our stay was, I would have told them if they asked but they didn't. Overall the customer service missed the mark, for what they charge its unacceptable overall. We are looking for other hotels to stay at in the area for next time we come up. Read less

I enjoyed Sunday brunch/breakfast at the bar, and found the wait staff quite pleasant without being overbearing. The complimentary shuttle service into town was perfect to grab a dinner at OSO, also a great restaurant in town. Read less

This is a nice hotel about 1 mile from central town. There is a free shuttle to the plaza. The rooms are remodeled nicely. The walls seemed thin and I could hear people in an adjacent room and hallway. The doors are thick and heavy and there is no way to close them without a big noise. The walls seemed thin and I could hear people in an adjacent room and hallway. The doors are thick and heavy and there is no way to close them without a big noise. There is a really nice fitness room with pelaton bikes and treadmills and weights. Good wifi. Comfortable beds. Good and responsive temperature control. Free coffee in the lobby and wine tasting nightly. Mini fridge in the room. Overall, I would recommend this hotel but bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper. Read less
