Peppermill Resort & Spa

Nevada, USA

The hotel

What started as a simple coffee lounge, opened by two friends in 1971, has evolved into one of Reno’s most spectacular destination hotels. Winning multiple awards for its gaming, dining, and entertainment, Peppermill Reno’s one of those places you could stay inside for months – if you do venture out, you’re right in the shopping and dining district, near downtown Reno, with complimentary parking if you fancy exploring beyond the city limits. Besides the 24-hour casino and Game Lab, featuring retro arcade machines, you get 2 stunning Tuscan-flavoured pools, a 3 storey spa with secret garden, complimentary WiFi, EDGE Nightclub, copious lounges and bars, and 10 restaurants. Dining experiences range from the sublime to the ridiculous (often simultaneously): think tucking into seafood under jellyfish lights, or dining on prime steaks by a virtual aquarium. Every detail is deliciously ostentatious.

The Peppermill had a Cyber Monday deal on their Luxury Suites at 50% off. We had visited the casino at the Peppermill but had not stayed at the resort. I jumped on this rate for a quick get away. Check-In was smooth. The coordination between the Valet, the bell staff and registration was seamless. We were checked in about 5 minutes after arriving. The resort is beautifully decorated. The registration area and hallways were immaculate and beautiful. We were on the 16th floor. The Luxury Suite was just that....luxurious! We were blown away at the amenities and furnishings in the two room suite. The living room area had a wet bar, a desk, beautiful plush leather couches, and plenty of storage space if you were staying for any length of time. There was plenty of room to host a small gathering. The bedroom was equally amazing. It had a huge four poster bed that was high off the ground. A huge black waterfall Jacuzzi tub was in the room as well as a steam shower, separate water closet, a double vanity area with an additional vanity as well. They are very generous with the towels, shampoos, body wash, etc. The thick brown with gold crown molding throughout was beautiful. There was a humidifier/air purifier in the living area that I thought was unusual. It turned out that it was a smoking room. I totally wouldn't have known this until I saw the ashtrays and matches throughout the rooms. This was an added bonus to my husband as he smokes the occasional cigars. It worked like a charm because the room smelled wonderful. The wifi worked fine, Room Service was speedy and delicious. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Absolutely EVERYTHING about this room was amazing and we look forward to returning. If I was pressed to find anything wrong about the room it would be the lack of a table on both sides of the bed. That's it; and that was only a minor inconvenience! I'm looking forward to getting back and now I'm spoiled; I will only stay in a suite with the jacuzzi tub and a steam shower:) Read less

I think our room was in the Peppermill Tower (photo uploaded of the view out our window in the morning). The room was large, well appointed, clean and comfortable. There seem to be some really good dining choices in the complex. We ate at Oceano and had some delicious sushi. Then we went off to gamble and finally fell into bed for a good sleep after a long day. In the morning we had a decent espresso at Biscottis and then I indulged my inner child in the arcade while my wife explored some of the shops. I don't know how this compares to other places in Reno but the Peppermill is a fun choice in my book. Read less

We stayed in the North wing due to special pricing deal and it turned out to be a veryt decent room and very convenient to the parking lot. The elevator is a little hidden and could use an easily visible exterior sign, but we figured it out after a little recon walk. Had a late dinner in the Cafe Milano with super service, and good food; even played a little Keno as they have a runner, and made a few bucks. Wow. Check in took a little longer than expected, maybe due to mid evening arrival. They could have used an extra associate or two on the arrival desk. Friendly place, clean room, will go back. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Great hotel and casino but be prepared.....

While this hotel and casino is very nice, be prepared to fork over an additional $30/night PLUS tax for a "Resort Fee"..even if you do not use the services it covers. If you do not mind paying for things you do not use, then I suppose it's okay. Personally, I hate to pay the "Resort Ripoff Fee" while I do not use any of the things it covers.
