Harbor View Hotel

Cape Cod, New England

The hotel

There’s enough nautical navy, whitewashed wood and rustic rattan at Harbor View Hotel to put you straight in the Cape Cod spirit. Surrounded by historic Edgartown homes, once owned by whaling captains, you’ll find the odd bit of maritime memorabilia adding to the seaside theme, but it’s the dining and entertainment that really set the scene. Alongside the tapas and New England microbrews of Henry’s bar, the casually cool Lighthouse Grill brings island sourced produce and views of Edgartown Lighthouse and Harbour. Featuring in top hotel lists by travel aficionados including Condé Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure magazine, this Martha’s Vineyard favourite comes alive each summer with events like yoga on The Great Lawn, adult-only swim sessions, family sandcastle competitions, water balloon games, and crabbing at the lighthouse.

We really enjoyed our stay. The facilities are excellent with good food and service. Our room was quite spacious enough to be very comfortable with relaxing seating and very clean as was the ensuite. A short walk from the Harbour along a quite road flanked by several period and historic houses. Ample parking should it be required.

The sitting area of the hotel was lovely and welcoming. There was a blazing fire and the view from the hotel - looking across the road to Edgartown Lighthouse - was perfect. The staff were helpful and friendly. It's great, of course, to have a nice restaurant right there in the hotel, too. I'll be back! Read less

The view to dye for! Especially from Presidential suite. Knew the renovation will come with new restaurant, bars and French Chef. Food is great now. Rooms are very spacious and super clean. Pretty useful gym room. Great swimming pool and pool bar! Can’t wait to be back!

We were warmly greeted by the front desk clerk and found that to be pretty consistent amongst the staff during our stay. We had a very spacious room with a king bed which was nicely. There was a lovely sitting area with 2 very comfortable high backed chairs and a very pretty window seat from which you could get a glimpse of the ocean. We had not requested a water-facing room until we arrived and they were out of them when we checked in so I was happy we got the small slice we did! The closet was not large, but was enough space for a weekend that necessitated winter coats. The bath had a beautifully tiled walk-in shower (no tub). The bed was quite comfortable & the towels thick and plentiful! There was an in-room safe & refrigerator provided as well. Bettini, the hotel restaurant with ocean views is quite good! Food was delicious. We also enjoyed a drink at the bar where the service was friendly & attentive. You can easily walk to shops & restaurants in town from there as well. Also along the way is The Carnegie, a relatively new museum located in the building that previously was home to the town library. For when the weather warms up: the front porch of the Harbor View is fantastic - it is deep & long and looks directly over at Edgartown Light. There are bicycles for the guests' use & an outdoor pool. 1 minute walk to Lighthouse Beach & 5 mins. to Fuller St. Beach. Read less

We stayed here while visiting our daughter who lives on the island. Carlos Guzman, the front desk manager, went above and beyond to make sure our stay was excellent. A definite asset to this busy hotel. Ronchelle and Anna at the front desk always had warm welcoming smiles. Our room was beautiful, well-appointed and spotless. The Roxana Bar has great drinks and food, and the bartenders (Dione and Brendan) made the times we spent there fun and enjoyable. We had an amazing brunch at Bettini's. Bridget, the food and beverage manager, is an absolute sweetheart and attentive to everyone's needs. Darlene, the concierge, is excellent. The staff seems like a big family, and we felt like we were part of it. The grounds were beautiful, and we loved the easy walk to Edgartown. The location is amazing, and everything you would want for a Martha's Vineyard vacation/stay. We will definitely be back to Harbor View! Read less
