Harbor View Hotel

Cape Cod, New England

The hotel

There’s enough nautical navy, whitewashed wood and rustic rattan at Harbor View Hotel to put you straight in the Cape Cod spirit. Surrounded by historic Edgartown homes, once owned by whaling captains, you’ll find the odd bit of maritime memorabilia adding to the seaside theme, but it’s the dining and entertainment that really set the scene. Alongside the tapas and New England microbrews of Henry’s bar, the casually cool Lighthouse Grill brings island sourced produce and views of Edgartown Lighthouse and Harbour. Featuring in top hotel lists by travel aficionados including Condé Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure magazine, this Martha’s Vineyard favourite comes alive each summer with events like yoga on The Great Lawn, adult-only swim sessions, family sandcastle competitions, water balloon games, and crabbing at the lighthouse.

We arrived at Harbor View Hotel in the midst of the COVID -19 crisis and off season. The hotel stayed open even though they were supposed to be closed half way through our stay to honor our reservation. And with this, we had full service in terms of the concierge, housekeeping and even breakfast. The rooms are bright, modern with all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay, but also in keeping with the lovely seaside environment in their style and decor. The lobby is where we hung out, by the cozy fireplace. Restaurants were closed so we ate take out on our laps and played family games. Overall, a fabulous experience full of warmth and kindness. We decided to try Martha's Vineyard off-season, and visited in February for my birthday. This hotel is the best stay we've had on the island so far. The employees were warm and welcoming, and the view can not be beat. I'm sure in the hustle of the summer it is even more exciting, but for our quiet winter getaway, we were able to walk downtown,… Read more

The employees were warm and welcoming, and the view can not be beat. I'm sure in the hustle of the summer it is even more exciting, but for our quiet winter getaway, we were able to walk downtown, walk the beach, and visit the restaurant. The best part of our trip was a surprise of homemade, fresh-from-the-oven warm cookies and a cool glass of milk to celebrate my birthday, delivered right to our room! They were delicious and so appreciated! We will be back! Read less

My family and I stayed at the Harbor View for what was a hockey tournament overnight for my daughter’s high school team. My family and I stayed at the Harbor View for what was a hockey tournament overnight for my daughter’s high school team. I really can’t say enough nice things about our stay, but here goes: - Check in was easy - Hotel is super clean (even saw a carpet cleaner which I have actually never seen in any hotel before ... and the carpets are, as you might suspect, really clean) - Sleeping room and bathroom are spacious - Beds are comfy - There are 2 complimentary Mercedes available for guests to borrow (must be over 21 and it’s limited to 3 hours) - There is on site parking - The location and view are beautiful - The front desk has supplies on hand if you forget something (like toothpaste, as I did) - In room lotions and soaps are from Molton Brown - really nice - Bath towels are real, full size bath sheets - Staff was friendly and helpful - Complimentary wi-fi, large tv, small fridge, plugs in bedside tables The only not great part about our stay was our trip to the restaurant, Bettini, but I’ll leave that as a separate review. Bottom line - I would stay at this hotel again in a heartbeat! Read less

We really enjoyed our stay. The facilities are excellent with good food and service. Our room was quite spacious enough to be very comfortable with relaxing seating and very clean as was the ensuite. A short walk from the Harbour along a quite road flanked by several period and historic houses. Ample parking should it be required.

The sitting area of the hotel was lovely and welcoming. There was a blazing fire and the view from the hotel - looking across the road to Edgartown Lighthouse - was perfect. The staff were helpful and friendly. It's great, of course, to have a nice restaurant right there in the hotel, too. I'll be back! Read less
