Bayview Hotel

Maine, New England

The hotel

If you’re going to stay in Bar Harbor, a waterfront pad is a must. Every room at The Bayview is set just 75 foot from the shore, with views over Frenchman’s Bay and the Atlantic, and a balcony to enjoy them from. But it’s not just your guestroom that benefits from the vista. You can take breakfast on the oceanfront terrace, tucking into homemade pastries, scones and muffins, and the ‘hot entrée of the day’. Or you could just take some time out on the lawn which sweeps straight down to the water’s edge (or to the stony beach when the tide’s out), perhaps with one of the freshly baked cookies prepared each day.

My husband surprised me by booking a stay at The Bayview Hotel for our 22nd anniversary in September 2020. After a wonderful day exploring Acadia National Park, a sunset cruise on the schooner Margaret Todd, and a run to get takeout pizza (this was during the pandemic), we settled into our comfortable room at Bayview. The bathtub was ideal for a soothing soak before nestling into the cozy bed. At sunrise, I went out on the balcony overlooking the bay to take in the beautiful scenery. Everything was incredibly peaceful and calm. Before checking out, we took our time watching 2 seals fishing nearby. Our breakfast was packaged and ready for pickup in the lobby (again, this was during the pandemic) in a lovely bag featuring the hotel logo. The assorted pastries, granola and yogurt, and juice got us off to a refreshing start for the next day's fun. The hotel staff paid careful attention to the necessary precautions to keep their guests healthy. I recommend this hotel because of its location, the pleasant rooms, and the friendly staff. We experienced grace and hospitality throughout our stay. The hotel is an ideal base camp for Acadia adventures. The Bayview Hotel is on my bucket list for future trips to Maine after the world emerges from the pandemic, when we are able to see each other smile again. Read less

This will be my first review ever on a hotel. I have to say. I checked twice when I arrived as it does not resemble the pics. You are paying for the view. That’s it. For the price. Stay at someplace else. This is a days inn at a ritz price. Incredibly dissatisfied. This is not a boutique hotel by any means. Stay at the downtown bar harbor… Read more

The hotel is modern with a modern design twist....really refreshing. Breakfast bags for those who want to get out and hike features fresh baked goodies and home made granola. Chris and Kathy were great and provided excellent hike recommendations. Large, clean comfortable rooms. Comfy bed and a great view of the water!

Stuck at NYC suburb town because of pandemic, wife and I decided to go and splurge ($500 a night) at Bar Harbor hotel. Room no better than Holiday Inns. Close up view of ocean half hidden by tree. Kitchen closed due to Covid and offered poor continental breakfast-dry store bought muffin, no fresh juice...much inferior to Hampton Inns . Best… Read more
