Grand Hotel

Maine, New England

The hotel

Just as you’d picture a New England coastal home, The Grand Hotel has all the gable roofed charm, dove-grey and white exteriors, column-clad porches, and upscale decor that make Maine so instantly recognisable. Perched on Chase Hill, just a stroll from downtown Kennebunkport, this classic retreat may be grand in style, with its own gallery of local artists’ works, but it’s intimate in atmosphere, with just 17 guest rooms to guarantee a homely feel. The home comforts also come in the shape of free WiFi, free parking, and free use of their cruiser bikes, so you can nip down to the shops, cycle off to one of the town’s clam shacks, or head out to explore Kennebunk’s other majestic old homes, once owned by 18th and 19th century captains of industry or shipping.

My wife and I did just complete a two day stay at your hotel and Kennybunk port We were very disappointed with the room accommodations The actual room we had room 305 did not in anyway look like the room that was depicted on your webpage. The room depicted on the web was large and had plenty of room to move around two chairs . the room we had was tiny barely enough room to move around the bed. Perhaps the room shown on web was a premium room and should have been described as such In room 305 one could barely walk around the king size bed as the room was so small, it had only 1 chair, the rug was dirty and there was a large black stain at the foot of the bed. The bathroom was ok but there was black mold on the tile around the soap an shampoo dispensers. all it would take o remedy that mold on the tile a little cleaner and elbow grease breakfast was terrible, the hotel knew there was 2 of us but they served only 1 6ounce plastic bottle of juice and 1 serving !! you knew there were 2 of us we left after the first night to drive home not wanting to stay the second night Lastly, there was no one to greet guests, the housekeeping service never explained . Although a gentleman named Mark we observed providing courteous service to another couple seeking alternative accommodations ad they too were dissatisfied with the hotel over all a rating of 2 stars is generous some compensation to us seems to me deserved Mary and Bill Smith 13 Powderhorn Way Bill Smith Read less

Patrons beware! I cancelled a one night reservation for Sunday 7/11 on Thursday 7/1 due to a family emergency. I called 4 TIMES trying to have an email send with this confirmation! On 7/10 I called AGAIN because I was receiving automated texts welcoming us on our arrival. ONCE AGAIN I was assured that the reservation was in fact cancelled. I then called on Sunday 7/11 when my credit card was charged for the room and resort fee!!! AGAIN, I was informed that the reservation was cancelled and my card would be refunded except the $50 cancellation fee (which despite cancelling 2 weeks prior to our arrival I still thought was extreme, but ok, whatever). I checked this morning and (guess what) my card has been charged AGAIN!!!!! Instead of being refunded, the card was charged for another full night. I called again immediately and in usual fashion there is no one there to take the call. You either get a recording or a message saying they will get back to you. So now I get to wait until someone calls and once again I get to hear the same story about how the reservation was indeed cancelled and how they will refund the card... How many times do you have to call to get someone who knows what they are doing? And despite this, I'm still charged a cancellation fee? Shame on you. This is despicable customer service. Read less

Stayed in Suite 101. What I loved - the location was right in the heart of town, large spacious room, good service (but see what I didn’t like), good size deck overlooking the street. What I didn’t love - cleanliness (it was early in the season and the carpet and outdoor table/chair needed a major refresh), no onsite staff (they are down the road… Read more

What I didn’t love - cleanliness (it was early in the season and the carpet and outdoor table/chair needed a major refresh), no onsite staff (they are down the road at another inn and so check in was delayed and coffee was out within 30 min of being out in the pot in the “lobby” in the morning). It was a decent place to stay but next time I’ll check out another spot. Read less

Excellent experience and service, the room was clean and very comfy. Coffee/tea in the lobby at all times was wonderful. The staff were all very friendly. The location of the hotel was walking distance to restaurants and shops which was amazing. Loved our stay here.
