In advance booking I encountered a challenging call center experience, Inflexible, not informed, Property desk clerk FINALLY checked my discount code (Roads Scholar Program) arriving a day early. This could have been a deal breaker, please train staff.

A great location in old Portland. A very comfortable hotel with a great lobby bar with a delightful bartender who shows classic movies and mixes terrific martinis. The breakfast was well presented with lovely fresh fruit .

Beds clean and comfortable. Noisy on weekend nights. Take ear plugs. Breakfast offered wide variety of good food. heated pool stone cold (air is heated but water is not). Location is great to see old port. Near old lobster company (good lobster rolls); ferry, aquarium, and Vermont Cheese shop.

The overall experience was disappointing. Great location, great brand name hotel, but did not meet expectations. Room was not super clean and very noisy to the room next door (even when they were speaking in normal tones). Every valet parked car was covered in seagull poop. Lots of people complaining when retrieving their car.

We returned to Portland for a 2 night stay. I wanted a place within walking distance of the water and shops. We chose this hotel and it was perfect. First- you are so central. 1 block from the water, good restaurants and shops. Second, the breakfast was amazing. Fresh fruit with huge blueberries, sausage (not your plastic type sausage but tasted like locally made), Fresh deli style bagels and eggs. Finally, the front desk staff is friendly and helpful. We wouldn’t hesitate to return. Read less
