Kennebunkport Inn

Maine, New England

The hotel

If you’re looking for a romantic getaway in a quintessential New England town, the Kennebunkport Inn fits the bill! Casually elegant with attentive staff, the Inn was once a tea merchant’s mansion and, despite modern updates, captures the appeal of that era perfectly. Stay in the Riverhouse, which is adjacent to the Main Inn or a few steps across Dock Square in their Wharfside Building – both locations are close to a variety of local attractions, restaurants and activities. When you’re not sightseeing, spend a while simply relaxing on the furnished porch or sundeck, soaking up that unique Maine atmosphere. Continental breakfast is complimentary, as for dinner, look no further than One Dock Restaurant, much acclaimed by locals and guests alike. Dishes include Maine classics such as baked haddock and steamed mussels as well as more Asian and Spanish inspired cuisine. Afterwards, head to the piano bar for some toe-tapping entertainment and a nightcap.

Our first time to Kennebunkport. We were staying for 6 nights and picked the Kennebunkport Inn for its location. I have to say, the location is very convenient...steps for all stores and many restaurants. Our room was new updated, very nice and very small. The breakfast staff was absolutely the best. They were very friendly and attentive. The breakfasts were very good. The reason for not being overly impressed is besides the breakfast staff, the front desk staff was helpful when asked questions but not overly accommodating. We went to get coffee twice and had to ask for some to be made while the attendant was on her cell phone. We requested a refrigerator and were told they would do their best upon booking 3 months prior. The first night we were told that they were getting one from another location and we would receive it the next day. We never received a refrigerator or heard anything further. Staying a week a refrigerator would of helped with keeping our drinks cold in the 90 degree weather. One of the main reasons I would try another location is that there is no common outdoor space for guests. Both of the outdoor spaces are the restaurant and the tables always set accordingly. It would of been wonderful to have a common place to relax outdoors after a long fun day out. Read less

We were booked in a standard Queen room for $450 per night. My walk in closet is larger. Had to stand on a chair to reach the wall air conditioner. The ironing board was under the bed! Had to hang over the bed to see the TV. If one person was sitting on the one chair in the room, the other had to sit on the bed, which was really a twin. The… Read more

The window had a great view of the parking lot...and all this for $450 a night! On the positive side, the receptionist was wonderful. Very pleasant and accommodating. Apologized for us having to trek to the back of the inn and up a steep flight of stairs with our three bags. Definitely not worth the price for the accommodations! Read less

This was our first visit to Maine and Kennebunkport is a new favorite! The minute we pulled up to The Kennebunkport Inn I loved it. It’s just adorable and so welcoming. Often times pictures are deceiving, but that’s not the case here. It’s just as quaint as it looks on their website. The location can’t be beat-you really can walk to just about everything. It’s right in the middle of Dock Square, but not at all chaotic. They have bikes and beach chairs available, and the ability to rent canoes or kayaks (we didn’t use this but I think it was a two hour free rental). Their onsite restaurant (The Burleigh) was very good too. Everyone that we encountered at the front desk was very helpful. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because the bed/mattress was a bit uncomfortable, and the room we were in wasn’t very soundproof. It wasn’t bothersome at all, just a few minor things that could have been a little better. Overall this is definitely the place to stay and we can’t wait to go back to The Kennebunkport Inn! Read less
