Kennebunkport Inn

Maine, New England

The hotel

If you’re looking for a romantic getaway in a quintessential New England town, the Kennebunkport Inn fits the bill! Casually elegant with attentive staff, the Inn was once a tea merchant’s mansion and, despite modern updates, captures the appeal of that era perfectly. Stay in the Riverhouse, which is adjacent to the Main Inn or a few steps across Dock Square in their Wharfside Building – both locations are close to a variety of local attractions, restaurants and activities. When you’re not sightseeing, spend a while simply relaxing on the furnished porch or sundeck, soaking up that unique Maine atmosphere. Continental breakfast is complimentary, as for dinner, look no further than The Burleigh, much acclaimed by locals and guests alike.

Getting through to anyone is impossible. No one ever picks up the phone. To get through you have to call 10 times to reach an operator who has no clue about anything. They screwed up every single request that we had. The room is old, small and crappy and has no body wash. Terribly disappointing experience staying here.

All aspects of our stay were excellent and enjoyable. Room was pleasing, quiet, and inviting. Meal in the Burleigh Room was excellent with great service and conversation with the waiter/bartender. A great value.

We were absolutely delighted to be able to stay a couple of nights at the Kennebunkport Inn. It was the perfect location for walking and dining experiences. They also had bikes offered for guest experience which I thought was splendid idea. Main lobby, dining area, hallways were updated in a gorgeous seaside design. I believe some guest rooms have been updated but the wing we are in had not seen Renovations. Also note there was no access to elevator, if mobility is an issue. Our room had antique furniture however wall vinyl, window treatments flooring and washrooms could of been updated. The old postered beds were gorgeous but you cannot have plywood under them to hold up mattress! Room was extremely clean though needed fresh air in room . I went to open and windows were nailed shut..... though I took nails out! The air outside from the coast is so beautiful. The staff all seemed very helpful and friendly. In addition we went there for morning brunch....did not enjoy the quality of the meal in addition to the time to be served. Overall I would recommend. Looks like they are progressing to make updates! It is nice to see these places being kindly and thoughtfully restored. The owner must be commended for the steps being taken. Read less

Lovely stay. Comfortable and low key. My only complaint is that I have to write at least 200 characters for this review instead of just letting my first two sentences speak for themselves. There, is that 200 characters now?

First visit to the Inn. Great location and walking distance to shops, restaurants, etc. The outdoor patio with fireplace, heated lamps, seating with throw blankets made is so comfortable and cozy to sit out there in February! The outdoor gondolas were heated, great spot for food and drinks! Staff was accommodating in every way. We’ll be back!!
