Kennebunkport Inn

Maine, New England

The hotel

If you’re looking for a romantic getaway in a quintessential New England town, the Kennebunkport Inn fits the bill! Casually elegant with attentive staff, the Inn was once a tea merchant’s mansion and, despite modern updates, captures the appeal of that era perfectly. Stay in the Riverhouse, which is adjacent to the Main Inn or a few steps across Dock Square in their Wharfside Building – both locations are close to a variety of local attractions, restaurants and activities. When you’re not sightseeing, spend a while simply relaxing on the furnished porch or sundeck, soaking up that unique Maine atmosphere. Continental breakfast is complimentary, as for dinner, look no further than One Dock Restaurant, much acclaimed by locals and guests alike. Dishes include Maine classics such as baked haddock and steamed mussels as well as more Asian and Spanish inspired cuisine. Afterwards, head to the piano bar for some toe-tapping entertainment and a nightcap.

My husband and I chose to try this lovely Inn for the first time over this past Memorial Day weekend and found it to be absolutely lovely. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The bag with the danish or muffin or croissant that is left on the room door in the morning is a nice touch as well as the coffee/tea server in the room. Additional coffee, tea and juice in the bar in the morning was especially nice to have to take out to the porch to relax with. Every staff person we encountered was helpful, friendly, accommodating and gracious. From the front desk personnel, the server who took care of us at dinner in the hotel restaurant to the room service staff everyone was a pleasure to interact with. We LOVED the location of the Inn which was right in the heart of the activity of the town. Numerous shops and restaurants within walking distance was a real bonus. We cannot wait to go back! This inn is right in town, perfect walking distance to shops and restaurants. It is a beautiful building with a restaurant and bar. They also had live music at night and beautiful porch seating. Our room was noisy (by the stairs) and the twin bed squeaked every time someone rolled over in the night. That said, I would absolutely stay there again.… Read more

The Kennebunkport Inn is ideally located in the center of Kennebunkport. Park your vehicle at the Inn and walk throughout the town, exploring restaurants and shops. This makes for a nice and convenient base. With an intimate, coastal feel, the large Victorian was built in the late 1890's with a newer addition of rooms attached in the rear where we stayed. That area is accessed by an alternate staircase, which did throw us off on occasion. Staff is warm and welcoming, the property is pristine and our large, comfortable room had a fireplace where we enjoyed sitting and watching television. We dined in the first floor restaurant off the lobby, and also enjoyed a nice complimentary breakfast; however, there was a wait to replenish the self-serve items. Read less
