Kennebunkport Inn

Maine, New England

The hotel

If you’re looking for a romantic getaway in a quintessential New England town, the Kennebunkport Inn fits the bill! Casually elegant with attentive staff, the Inn was once a tea merchant’s mansion and, despite modern updates, captures the appeal of that era perfectly. Stay in the Riverhouse, which is adjacent to the Main Inn or a few steps across Dock Square in their Wharfside Building – both locations are close to a variety of local attractions, restaurants and activities. When you’re not sightseeing, spend a while simply relaxing on the furnished porch or sundeck, soaking up that unique Maine atmosphere. Continental breakfast is complimentary, as for dinner, look no further than One Dock Restaurant, much acclaimed by locals and guests alike. Dishes include Maine classics such as baked haddock and steamed mussels as well as more Asian and Spanish inspired cuisine. Afterwards, head to the piano bar for some toe-tapping entertainment and a nightcap.

Perfect location! The Inn is stunning! Every detail is quaint and picturesque. Our room was cozy and authentic. The fireplace on the porch with provided blankets make for the perfect evening! We had the special surprise of complimentary bicycles! Our favorite day was taking the bikes to Cape Porpoise to the pier and eating at The Chowder House and continuing our ride to Walkers Point to see the Bush house. The highlight was riding bikes beside the coast. (On a side note-be sure to get whoopie pies from H.B. Provisions) Read less

This was our first time in Kennebunkport and sent me the first time in his hotel. After a Long Day's driving we were delighted to find the hotel very pleasing on the eye. Superbly decorated and very comfortable. I would say it was steps entry and as such there was no ramp entry for disabled people. The room was excellent with everything we wanted including a superb bed. The only other observation is that there's no breakfast and only pastries and hot coffee. The staff were great. Read less

Very disappointing time at KBP Inn. Like the others noted, the breakfast is scant and horrible. The muffins tasted like frozen from the grocery store. No juice. Had to ask for napkins each morning. Definitely not continental breakfast. Also, the restaurant and bar were closed for three days. There was no advance notice of this. When we asked about… Read more

Definitely not continental breakfast. Also, the restaurant and bar were closed for three days. There was no advance notice of this. When we asked about it, we were told “there’s plenty of places to eat around here”. When the restaurant and bar were open, the staff was very unfriendly. They said “well we have to cover our costs”. Upon checkout, the desk clerk said “you’re all set”. No thank you. The Inn is quaint and pretty and in a good location, but that’s it. Read less

This place is fantastically placed within walking distance of all the town. The rooms were great, the showers fantastic. But there was no staff after 8.00 pm the night we arrived, Wednesday. Access after that was with a front door key. However, (and I hope that by advertising this they will do something about it) the door to the dining terrace was open all night. I mentioned it and was told that they locked it with a special tool. This was overridden if someone opened it from the inside. This is simply unacceptable. Breakfast is a joke. Go over the bridge to the top of the village to Mike’s all day breakfast. Scrummy. Read less

The Inn is in a beautiful location and our room was lovely. However, it felt like the hotel was more or less closed, no bar service, no restaurant open apart from 3 or 4 days later in the week. Breakfast was a few cakes and not very warm coffee just on a tray in the lobby. Given that my husband is diabetic, this was unacceptable and extremely disappointing. Even a few more savoury options would have made it better. We ended up going next door to the little cafe. Outside door was locked at 8pm and place deserted, no service to speak of at all, which was a shame as a lovely bar area on site which we would have used was in complete darkness. Read less
