Meadowmere Resort

Maine, New England

The hotel

Once a simple inn, The Meadowmere Resort has been transformed into an incredible feature-packed retreat – but it’s never lost the cosy Maine charm it began life with. The family owners have kept its warmth and its original indoor pool, while adding treats like an outdoor pool, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, a cosy New England pub, and a health club with spa and fitness spaces. Some features are seasonal, but there’s plenty to occupy you all year, with little gathering spots like the library, tea room, TV room, and games room, home to a pool table, air hockey and video games. Although, with all Ogunquit’s charms just a stroll away, including the white sands, fine and casual dining, shopping, and lobster harbour, you may have little time to enjoy the inn’s attractions.

The Meadowmere is a large "resort" complex on Route 1 about a half-mile from Ogunquit Village. We have stayed here twice but will look for better options on our next trip. The location is on Busy Route 1 and there is no easy way to walk to a beach or to the ocean. Ogunquit Beach is about a mile walk, as is Perkins Cove. There are a wide variety of rooms over a broad spectrum of prices. Be aware that when you book a room you will be immediately charged for one night and will not be able to get that back if you cancel. In addition, when you check in they will hit your credit card with a large reserve. In my case, for a 3 night stay, I paid $151 in advance and then they added another $450 to my credit card as a reserve. So $600 for 3 nights at $151 each. You will wait a week or so after checking out for all this to be resolved and credits obtained. As I said, lots of amenities including a heated indoor pool, Roman Spa, outdoor jacuzzi's and a large fitness center. In addition breakfast in their little pub is included, but for such a nice place breakfast is, well, terrible. You will eat off paper plates with plastic utensils. Pretty much the same fare as you would get in a low-end hotel like a Hampton Inn. A better option is to walk to the Village Market or Backyard Coffee downtown for breakfast. Don't consider a free breakfast as a selling point here. The clientele definitely skews to older and retired. You won't see any young people and few families with children. The housekeeping staff is friendly and efficient. The front desk, not so much. They also like to brag about their coffee bar in the lobby. I have now stayed a total of 7 nights here and have still never gotten a cup of hot coffee. Either the urns are empty or have been sitting there unattended all day. Rooms are fine and beds are comfortable, but all balconies either overlook the parking lot or Route 1, There is nothing scenic around the building, but inside is pretty nice. For anyone going to Ogunquit for the outdoors and the beaches, find a place closer to the ocean. Read less

The breakfast served is top quality and delicious. The hotel is just a short walk to the center of town. It also offers wagons if you don't feel like carrying everything to the beach. I recommend this hotel to everyone who wishes to have the best Maine experience. I will continue to come every year. Read less

We discovered Meadowmere several years ago and have returned a few times. It's a reasonable drive from our home, so when we have a couple of days and want a great getaway, we choose Meadowmere. It's a lovely hotel, very clean and comfortable. The staff are remarkably friendly. The pool, Roman spa, and outdoor hot tub are relaxing and fantastic!

We stayed in the corner honeymoon suite, 847 I think? And the hot tub is old, and buttons are broken as well as some of the jets, it's dark and dusty, there is absolutely no water pressure, nor is there heat in the bathroom. For $200+ a night, I'm not sure what we are paying for. We have been going there for years and have stayed in different… Read more

For $200+ a night, I'm not sure what we are paying for. We have been going there for years and have stayed in different honeymoon suites and this one has the same decor for more than 10 years back to 2007 when we first started going there. PLEASE update that Corner Room ...it's a dishrace compared to your other Suites. Had to give three stars because the rest of the hotel is great. Read less

Well run hotel, clean, many amenities. Our room with king bed had enough room for a table and two chairs, small deck with two more chairs. Short walk to Jonathan's for dinner functions, or show. We've been here twice now in early season and it a good time.
