Meadowmere Resort

Maine, New England

The hotel

Once a simple inn, The Meadowmere Resort has been transformed into an incredible feature-packed retreat – but it’s never lost the cosy Maine charm it began life with. The family owners have kept its warmth and its original indoor pool, while adding treats like an outdoor pool, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, a cosy New England pub, and a health club with spa and fitness spaces. Some features are seasonal, but there’s plenty to occupy you all year, with little gathering spots like the library, tea room, TV room, and games room, home to a pool table, air hockey and video games. Although, with all Ogunquit’s charms just a stroll away, including the white sands, fine and casual dining, shopping, and lobster harbour, you may have little time to enjoy the inn’s attractions.

Overall, it was a good location with potential amenities but they all fell too short. Things I did not like about the resort 1. Rooms are very outdated, esp the rooms in the second building behind the main 2. Bathroom are also not great and very small, with very little water pressure in the showers 3. The indoor heated pool was not heated like they said, the outdoor pool was warmer 4.Breakfast was included but not great thanks to COVID. Nothing hot, just limited muffins, coffee, cereal. 5.They don’t clean the rooms during your stay but will get you stuff you need if you call them. 6. The beds are not very comfortable and the pillows too big. Positive things I did like 1. Relatively close to town and Perkins cove. Even with an infant, only took us 15 min of walking. However, there are plenty of hotels in town ( all of which had 3 day min for Labor Day weekend). 2. The bath supplies surprisingly were good, had a hair dryer. 3. The A/C was reliable and worked very well. Very cool in the room 4. Has a health club and spa and a pub, but can’t comment of it because never had a chance to use it. For the price we paid per night, it was definitely not worth it to stay here. But if you need a place to stay in a bind?? Read less

My husband and I stayed three nights in the Arch suite. The outdated room smelt very musty and there was barely any water pressure. The Roman Spa was dirty and left black residue on your skin. The continental breakfast was below average. When I checked out, the front desk employee barely spoke to me and did not ask me how my stay was. Overall, we… Read more

The Meadowmere is a very dated property. The Meadowmere is a very dated property. Whether you're in it's musty halls, limited "tavern", or their several common rooms offering reading or leisure, it just comes off as disappointing and unlike most resort experiences. We booked the arch honeymoon suite - a one-of-a-kind experience that we were looking forward to. Without telling us, the staff put us into one of the typical one-bedroom "suite-style" rooms. I just got done staying at several all-suite chain hotels for 1/3 of the price of this hotel, I wasn't here to stay in another cookie-cutter suite! I called the front desk to see what was up once I noticed the room discrepancy, the young woman on the phone was not very friendly and kept assuring me that they gave me an upgrade, noting a king that I didn't even request. To make matters worse, this hotel is NOT soundproof! Until 10:00 we heard a woman and her children in the outdoor pool across from our room. I debated on calling the front desk, only to remember this pool is literally right next to the front desk! If I could hear them screaming at 10:00, certainly the front desk heard them too and did not care. Between that family and a family directly under me in a common room, we just did not have an enjoyable, romantic evening. I would have given this hotel a pass at $100, maybe even $200. I paid $300 to stay in a suite much more dated and lacking than local chain all-suite hotels. This was disappointing considering the other wonderful options in Southern Maine. The breakfast was full of pre-packaged, processed options. Regular for continental breakfasts during COVID-19. My disappointment grew when we brought breakfast back to the room, and I opened a pre-packed bag of apples to a rancid smell, and saw they were rotting. How embarrassing for the breakfast manager! The on-site tavern had a friendly host in the evening, he was the only thing making me wonder if I'll ever visit this resort to give them a try again. He is a real gem and was very friendly. The rest of the staff were pretty gloom and that is unfortunate for the price that the guests pay to stay in this hotel. The location for this hotel is poor considering it is a resort. This is something I should have checked before booking here. I'd figure with how expensive the rooms are, I'd be much closer to marginal way. It is a 30-minute round trip walk from your room, or a drive with a gamble that you will probably not find parking. It was a good 5-min drive away from Ogunquit stores. Out of 7 otherwise great days in an all-suite excursion across Maine, spanning wonderful Hilton, Marriott, B&B, and oceanfront adventures, this was the most disappointing, mostly because we saved this for last expecting the beautiful arch room, were willing to pay for that special night, and were instead welcomed with mediocrity. I hoped the manager would have contacted me after I responded to their email "how did we do" - but I never heard anything. I can only hope they make some renovations, motivate their younger staff, and offer a better experience next time. Read less

We had a good time here. Worst issue was no water pressure at all in the shower. Kids enjoyed the pools. The breakfast buffet was bad, terrible selection and never had any milk for the cereal. Rooms were large and the beds were comfortable.

We brought it to managers attention and she explained it was the water from the well or area it comes from had kicked up soot or something, apparently she knew right away it must have happened before. We were given the room at 50% off which was more than fair because everything else was fantastic. Restaurant next door had a buck a shuck oyster night (really good) Pool bar drinks were reasonable price and made well. overall it was safe and clean and comfy and we would def return and plan to soon with the kids. Oh yeah also short drive to beaches, shopping and great restaurants. you could come here for a couple nights park the car and never leave if you wanted, its all right here Read less
