Portland Harbor Hotel

The hotel

Located in the heart of the Old Port, relax in one of Portland's most inviting hotels. It’s the little things that make a difference when you’re away from home. And Portland Harbor Hotel’s thought of them all – little wonder it’s received the AAA Four Diamond Award for the last 12 years. There’s the complimentary Starbucks coffee each morning; the free bikes for exploring downtown Portland (and free town car if you fancy a more leisurely ride); the bar bites accompanying that day’s martini special at the happy hour; the chance to taste Maine’s famous seafood at Eves at the Garden; and the turndown service with a naughty pre-bedtime chocolate).

for the price of 2k for one week, my standards were that of similar hotels. This hotel was subpar. It was clearly assumed that all families should go in one hallway. Though not all families are equal. I consider my family to be quiet and respectful but unfortunately could not say the same about the others during my stay. Many nights of children running through the hall, screaming, slamming doors repeatedly or babies crying through the night. We barely slept. Also throw in the rock hard bed... not worth the money paid. The restaurant on site also does not have child friendly items. Likely won't stay again. Read less

We enjoyed our weekend in Portland at the Portland Harbor Hotel. Our room was very clean, but the location is the best part. It's right in the middle of the action in Old Port. The only negative I have is the required on-site valet parking (would rather park myself) and the slow elevator.

The positives included a lovely patio/outside space, a very professional and engaging staff, and a quite a good dinner... But the positives were, unfortunately, counterbalanced by the negatives. For the price (over $400 including taxes ) the room itself was nothing special at all, and the noise from the music and crowds outside our window kept us awake until the wee hours of the morning ... not AT ALL what I would hope for or expect at this price point. Really disappointing. Read less

Not really pleased with our stay. The Deluxe King room was small, motel 8s have larger rooms. The room furniture is worn down with stains on the chairs (we did not sit on them), ratty looking walls with paint peeling, and a visibly dirty with other people’s hair all over it headboard. The worst part was that at the morning of our checkout I… Read more

The room furniture is worn down with stains on the chairs (we did not sit on them), ratty looking walls with paint peeling, and a visibly dirty with other people’s hair all over it headboard. The worst part was that at the morning of our checkout I found that the hotel re-charged our room at a higher rate and tried to sneak in an extra 50 dollar surcharge according to the front desk(sorry... our mistake). I successfully got the charges refunded... so far. Another thing I didn’t care for....7 dogs were counted walking around the hotel lobby during your stay. Maybe you have a dog and travel with them, but I don’t and did not appreciate it in such a small cramped allegedly upscale hotel. We woke up to dogs whining more than once... Just make sure you have an extra 600 bucks to handle weird charges. Hard pass on this place from me though. Read less

This is a lovely hotel. It has a cute bar and restaurant as well as a garden outside area. Our room was quaint and sweet. The hotel is very clean and well kept. I enjoyed the delicious coffee in the mornings. Front desk staff amazing !
