I did review the photographs sent in by fellow travellers on tripadvisor and though admittedly the place isn't brand new, I didnt experience anything quite so negative as shown in those designed to highlight such things. My only negative comment however would be the size of the car park, which was insufficient for the size of the property (particulrly during my stay). Read less

A very nice hotel convenient for Portland and the New England coastal resorts. Room was fine and breakfasts were very good. Off street car parking on site. Lots of nearby restaurants. The hotel has a bar serving food on site too
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Ground floor common spaces are lovely but it is disappointing when you make your way to the rooms.

The staff was not particularly friendly or helpful, and attention to detail is lacking. The ground-floor spaces are very pretty and welcoming, including for pets, and the outdoor seating at the restaurant is very nice as is the porch. The rooms are a disappointment — poor lighting, bathroom amenities are bare minimum, and our room was not clean on arrival. Also, the guaranteed parking space was a sham. They do nothing to police who parks in their lot and it was for the whole time I was there. The coffee was empty every time I came by it which was four different times in the morning. They just need to tighten things up. It is a lovely space with lots of potential but they are not paying attention to the details. Read less

I finally arrived here after driving many, many hours, and thee were NO parking spots. Not just in the lot, but nearby street parking, either. This hotel was saying basically “make a reservation, pay, but don’t actually come”. I have been a loyal customer who stayed 4-5 times in last 13 months, but this was a disgrace. This hotel was saying basically “make a reservation, pay, but don’t actually come”. I have been a loyal customer who stayed 4-5 times in last 13 months, but this was a disgrace. Not only at my arrival, but the next afternoon as well, there are only a few spots available. I am scared to drive my car out for the fear of not having another spot when I come back to the hotel. I know the restaurant here is popular and it’s clients park. Also, the theater attendants at Bowdoin, park here. I suggest that you Station a parking attendant to make sure only the hotel clients park in the lot. Or, provide us the parking tag, so that only the cars with tags can park. Read less

The Brunswick Hotel and Tavern is a clean, super convenient, friendly, quiet, and comfortable facility that was across from Bowdoin College, the Maine State Music Theater, and an easy walk to the town's shops and restaurants. The staff was efficient and helpful. The parking area is small, but free and there is free street parking also. The northern terminus of the Amtrak Downeaster is a few hundred feet away, making a train-and-stay trip a definite possibility. We walked across the street and found two, free, museums at Bowdoin College: Arctic and Art, both unexpectedly nice. Many walking trails in the area offer nice views and interesting history. Read less
