We ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant, 1606, and the food was delicious with lots of choices. The beach directly in front of the hotel is a nice one with swimming and sea glass picking. The hotel is taking lots of COVID precautions and we felt quite safe. One thing we loved was that there is no "hotel" art. All of the art is photographs of sailboats and fishing and of Gloucester itself. There are lots of things to do in Gloucester-boats, beaches, art, shopping, the fabulous Cape Ann Museum and lots of interesting places to walk and hike. Read less

First, the hotel has free parking and is a one minute walk into downtown. It’s situated on the beach, with amazing views at every turn. The staff is professional yet exuberantly friendly, recognizing our 20th anniversary with handwritten cards, homemade chocolate, and a gift credit to the hotel. You need to make a reservation for two hour pool use, however since it was September we were able to extend it to four hours and enjoyed every moment. The bar at the pool is open for limited menu and full drinks, and the hot tub is amazing and looks out over the ocean. The rooms and common space are decorated in a modern, subtle nautical theme. Had an incredible lunch at the 1606 restaurant with clam chowder (some of the best I’ve had ever), duck risotto (good but chewy mushrooms) and tuna tartare. Very large bedroom suite, cold creamer in the room fridge (nice touch!!!- but should have a note w the coffee because I just happened to look there) and large bathroom with Loccitane amenities. Also, if you don’t want to make a pool reservation for sunset just grab a beach chair and sit on the beach, just as good! Ask for Losha if you need anything- he’s your guy! Fabulous resort!! Check in was easy- our room wasn’t ready when we arrived at 2pm so we checked our luggage and got lunch at 1606. The deck was windy and chilly so we sat at a high top in the bar area. The food was great- I had bisque and a chicken sandwich- my husband had the sliders. All delicious. Our room was a king corner room with a balcony with an amazing view. The rooms are a good size, very small fridge, and a good sized bathroom. Everything was neat and clean. I don’t particularly care for rain head showers (impossible to shower without getting your hair wet) but that was probably the only ‘negative’ if you even want to call it that. We slept with the slider open to listen to the sound of the crashing waves. It was wonderful. Due to covid you have to reserve a 2 hour time slot for the pool area, which was kind of a nuisance, but it is what it is. Pool was warm enough for a chilly day. All of the staff was very friendly and courteous and helpful. We would certainly stay here again if we were to return to Gloucester. Read less

I want to start of with the positives, beautiful hotel, beautiful location, the very best views. Cleanliness is A++++. If you are staying, ask about all amenities and what you need to make a reservation for, restaurant (which we did), bar, rocking chairs, pool, etc.. do not wait until you get there. Customer Service is going to get a poor rating from my husband and myself. I gave a two star rating because the biggest downer was the Customer Service, I understand everyone is wearing masks and it is hot and annoying. I understand there are new rules for everyone to follow, I understand how this has caused all businesses to change their routines. The poor Customer Service was not with one group or team at the Beauport but all of them (except for housekeeping who did a phenomenal job, were friendly and professional). There are specific instances of poor Customer Service but I am not going to call them out as I do not want any of the teams or employees to get in trouble during this trying time. All I can say is there needs to be more pleasantries, more customer service, not short responses with no explanations. Everyone seemed to be in a panic and confused or just plain old fashioned uninterested in our questions. I felt we were putting people out and being a nuisance. We are pretty easy going people and truly are not looking for customized customer service and we are not needy guests. We just wanted to feel welcome and a “Hi” here and there or nicer responses to the questions we did ask. We did not enjoy our stay. Honestly, we left early and could not wait to get home. Only takes a minute or two to be kind and ensure your guests are having Good time. We are all in this together! Read less
