My friend drove quite a distance to meet me so we were hungry when arriving. Then we were told we couldn't have cocktails on the outdoor patio but they offered for us to sit by a fire pit. It was 80+ degrees out, the only other option was the bar. Staff was unfriendly, they act as though you're putting them out with even the most simple questions. I only retuned to this establishment as my friend has babies at home and I wanted her to choose where to go, and she likes the ambience. This time around, again stuffy atmosphere, whatever happened to service with a smile? My appetizer was good but the lobster roll was just ok. You'll find much better food and customer service at many other restaurants in Plymouth. Read less

This is about the Garden Bar. My wife and I joined two friends for dinner there this last Sunday evening. It is a lovely spot to dine, especially on beautiful New England evenings, but the service and food continues to disappoint so we will most likely not return (the same for our guests). We live in Pinehills so not a lot of options for dining. As most of the community says, just another average meal at the 4 dining facilities. Our server seemed to be trying hard, but was clearly overwhelmed. The "manager" hostess seemed more concerned to stay at the hostess stand instead of checking on peoples tables/meals etc. (this has been an issue since the hotel opened, they are afraid to ask if all is ok!) The server had never heard of a drink I wanted, a Negroni, and obviously the bar outside could not make it as it had to be made by the inside bartender. My wife asked about getting the driest Chardonnay and asked for a taste. After 20 minutes a full glass was brought out, no taste and it was sweet and full bodied...not what we wanted. So she switched to a Rose, which was fine, but not cold. When we asked for another glass of wine, the server said they did not have any at the bar and would bring up from downstairs? Since it was not chilled, we declined. Our friends ordered pizza's, they looked okay, we ordered Kabobs. I had chicken with corn on the cob as a side. The plates are lovely, but way too small to deal with all on the plate, as I lost part of my kabob to the ground below, trying to get it off the kabob stick and on to the plate. Worse than that was the corn, picture attached, which was only 1/2 cooked....nice to grill corn, but cook the whole thing. I believe, as one who retired from the hospitality business, to primarily be training, which this hotel in my opinion, just hires and sends them out to the wolves....not smart. We do not eat inside any longer as tired of poor service and mediocre food...and frozen popovers! The Garden Bar was our hope, and it continues to disappoint as did the restaurant. Read less

Booking your vacation you're going to encounter staff who are very business-like with almost no personality or ability to have a conversation with you beyond feeding you a very straightforward answer to anything you ask. It's not helpful when you're trying to look at their packages and find out the best way to book your vacation. Luckily, these folks are not at this resort so that is not who you're going to find upon arrival. The rooms are nice. They used a diffuser, which I wish they didn't, as it bothered me and there's no real way to get the aroma out. It was pleasant, but I got stuffy almost immediately upon entering the room. That aside, they are furnished nicely, the furniture in the room is well kept (often I find this isn't the case and it shows on dark furniture). The products that they supply for your stay are also wonderful and you will want to buy them later. The spa is great. I thought I would be bored just with a foot soak, some lounges and a hot tub but that wasn't the case as it's very relaxing. The steam room was unbearable, neither of us could stay in it while it was "on" and had to step out and go back in. We did encounter a couple of friends who were loud and obviously drunk, which was unfortunate, but most of the guests were pleasant and aware of those around them. It did get busy on the weekend during the day, but that's to be expected I guess. It was disruptive when appointments would be called in as a mass of people would enter the spa about 15 minutes before and then exit all together about 15 minutes later. This really brought the feeling of the spa down. We stayed a couple of nights and went to a power yoga class. This left a lot to be desired as there was nothing power about it. I am new to yoga but was almost bored by this class. It also did not run the full time noted on the schedule and wasn't listed as having an alternate length. The instructor also never said hi and just started the class and never one bothered to give any tips, advice or even watch what we were doing. The food is really good. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner in the spa. I enjoyed that you could be in your robe for breakfast and lunch and it contributed to a very relaxed spa atmosphere. I was amazed the food was as good as it was, I didn't expect it. We had the hash, basic breakfast, calamari (eh), mushroom salad (amazing), quiche, french onion soup, tuna nicoise and scallops. Overall we had a very pleasant weekend. If I could change anything it would be the yoga classes to add more throughout the day, have them accurately represent the catalogue and also find a way to restrict the number of people in the spa. Advice - go during the week. Read less

Continues to disappoint. My husband and I have been coming here since they opened close to 5 years ago. I assumed they would have managed to work through their growing pains and begin offering a high end smooth running inn and spa. This is simply not the case. Check in at 4:15 went smoothly. Brought to our room and given an overview. Asked about food options. Went down to the restaurant at 4:30 to be told in a not so pleasant way, “we don’t serve food between 4 and 5, but your welcome to sit at the bar”. So our options were, order room service or eat in the wet outdoor patio of the spa in the drizzling rain. Hmmm. An inn that has no food service from 4-5 in its only restaurant. This should have been pointed out to us at checkin. The hostess at this point says, “would you like me to see if they will make you something?, again in a not so pleasant way. Decide to go to the spa. Go out to the patio and find wet cushions and tables not wiped down and no bar tender. Find a towel to place on the cushion, get a cloth, clean off the table, find 2 menus and wait patiently for the bar tender to return. Upon doing so, he immediately serves 2 woman who have walked out after us and then asks for one of our menus to give to them because he only had 2 menus for the entire outdoor patio. What? Hmmm. Here you go, have my menu. He’s now busy taking their order and making them drinks. Says nothing to us. Go inside to use the steam room to find used towels and cucumbers laying about on the benches in the steam room. So, nope, they haven’t worked out the kinks and are not offering a high end inn and spa experience. Read less
